    I’ve been getting my hair permed for 4 years and from what I understand you are supposed to not get it wet at all for the first 24-72 hours. You can spritz water on it to try to tame it but you are not supposed to get it wet, you aren’t supposed to mess with it at all really either (no ponytails or buns) because you’re trying to allow your hair time to set and the bonds to reform

    I’m not a professional, but I’ve been researching perms, and I think your results are because it’s a spiral perm instead of regularly wrapped perm. The regular wrap makes more curls and the spiral does more waves like ramen noodles. Either way, you look ADORABLE in those waves!

    Hey girl! The waves are super cute. My hair looks like that naturally and I figured I would let you know what I do to define curls. I use sulfate and pretty much everything “bad” free shampoo and conditioner. When you condition your hair, comb through with fingers or a wide tooth comb. When I’m done showering I flip my head upside down and to each side and scrunch extra water out. Then, I flip my head upside down (lol-hopefully you get what I mean) and apply a small amount of Jessie curls “honey curl” cream. Don’t use a lot of lotion for our hair type it will weigh it down. Then Jessie curl “jelly curls” gel. I section my hair by under layer and top layer before adding that. Once the gel is added let the hair air dry until the gel sets and looks a little crunchy. I go in with a diffuser on cool heat to dry the rest. Make sure you flip your hair side to side and upside down when drying for volume. Try that and see how it works for you! You don’t have to use Jessie curl obviously but a light hair lotion/cream and gel will be great. Use sulfate free products to make sure your hair doesn’t dry out since it’s already chemically treated!!!

      Roller size isn't the problem it was how the perm was processed. My grandmother did big puffy perms all the time the trick is after u rinse leave the rods in until fully dray so the curls set up at the size of the roller instead of stretched out

    I have gotten about 4 perms and each time I try to use different products why? I have no idea. Right now the products I believe work for my hair in order are Biosilk, the Strictly curls curl lotion and the Aussie curl mousse. I put the products in while it’s still a little wet and I allow it to air dry. It does get a little crunchy but I end up scrunching it after it has completely dried to get rid of some of the crunch. Your hair looks so good straight and curled!

    They can make big puffy curls they did it all the time in the 80 but it's not popular now and she just didn't know how to do it.
    After the perm neutralizer is washed out the curl is not fully set leave the rods in until fully dray so the curl is set to that size and doesn't stretch out.

    The perm is good, well executed. But I blame the stylist for not educating you on product, proper haircut for more volume like you wanted, and not pulling your hair back in a scrunchie during the 48 hour period while the curl is still setting. Also idk why they didn’t just use white rods piggy backed since you wanted it curlier. Purple rods are more for body wave. Still, it’s a good starter perm for ya

  • @sk_7460
    @sk_7460 4 года назад

    I put a curl cream in while it’s still soaking wet. (Squish to condish.. whatever) then I’ll go in with some gel and squeeze some of the extra water out with a t-shirt. When it dries it’s kinda crunchy so I’ll put a little oil on my hands and scrunch it out to break that up. Ive also noticed that if I scrunch more with my head down I get more volume. I rarely diffuse my hair, but when I do it gets more defined and voluminous. Don’t mess with your hair while it’s drying. I’ve leaned back on a chair and the back ended up being flat. 🙄

Over the last 5 years I have been missing it and more and more as the years go by. I wouldn't have ever thought to get a perm because I thought the permed look would look like the 80s back combed curly hair. From having watched lots of RUclips vids, I see it doesn't. After you shampoo use a big tooth comb and start at the ends and comb very gently. Use the curl lotion and lean forward and go underneath and scrunch your hair that’ll make it a little more poofy like you wanted. Do not pull your hair up in a bun or ponytail tightly because that will stress your curls. Try sleeping in a hair bonnet.

    Tip: you should apply products on your hair while it's soaking wet, so that the curls/waves will dry without losing their shape and without creating frizz. I use shea moisture products and then for styling I use a mouse and a light gel, because it holds my waves better. Other tip: while your hair is drying, you shouldn't be touching it too much because that will create frizz, so don't shake it too much and don't put it in a scrunchie😊

      Absolute, unmitigated disaster! I was in and out of the salon within an hour (!) and that includes the cut and blow dry, which is a total joke because he told me it was best to leave my hair to air dry, but charged me anyway! The perm lotion was left on for about 17 minutes. My previously straight hair, which was fine but in fabulous condition, was very slightly kinky and a total frizz-ball. It seriously could not have been any worse. I hated it and couldn't even look at myself in the mirror. I have spent the afternoon with my hair in a full conditioning hair mask, I have now rinsed it off and my hair is completely straight, thank God. The condition has unfortunately been compromised though. I won't be going down this route again 😢😢😢

      @@66StevieT oh no! What a shame! I was hoping you’d say your hair turned out fabulous and that you look great in it. ☹️ My story is another disaster. So, the lady I went to completely said she will not work on my hair because I said I had COVID last month even though I am fully recovered since the past 4 weeks. She was so rude. She didn’t understand how immunity and antibodies work apparently. So, I am going for a consultation on Monday and might get it done on Tuesday at another salon. I am so sorry about your hair. I am just glad you could salvage your hair though.

    OK i just wanted to put my experience out there. So i had virgin hair and really really wanted a curly perm. my hair was stick straight. i got it at a beauty school from someone who had little experience. it cost $35 dollars. overall it was a good perm. there were some straighter pieces but overall very curly. i loved it for about 3 months then i got tired of it. its been a year now and... it won't go away. PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO GET RID OF IT WITHOUT STRAIGHT PERMING IT! ive cut it but theres still a good 6 inches of perm left in my hair💀
    also side note it is a lot of work. i shoulda listened to my sis who has really curly hair.
