    Aw man, sorry about your black Sony VCR. Sony is one of the best brands/manufacturers for VCRs, and it's really unfortunate to see this VCR come to an end. RIP.

    Calm down, Brendan. I actually destroyed my favorite VCR after spending months attempting to repair it. I was on a mission to recap a board with a friend on a Magnavox VR-9655 (Panasonic built deck). Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong with my attempt. I found that I had used the wrong capacitors (used high ESR, not low ESR like I should have), my friend forgot to tell me that he unplugged one of the main wires on the main board during a test, I burned through part of the power board itself with the soldering iron after an attempt to rectify a bad joint. So I wound up with burned out components and a board with dissolved traces. On my test...I had a little fireworks show. The motor kicked on, and a capacitor by the clock circuit went POW! It was a puny 10 microfarad capacitor but man did it fill the room with smoke and noxious smells. It certainly was an afternoon to remember. Me and my friend laugh about it now. There is a part in the deck that actually will come in handy for a future project of mine so all is not lost.
    Besides, some of the integrated circuits and transistors were slowly burning ever since I bought the unit. It always smelled like something was incinerating when I had it record the TV. I thought the previous owner was a heavy smoker. Nope...components were smoldering. After two years of heavy use, it would display distorted video and the clock would fizz. I thought a recap would fix it...It probably needed way more than that.

      @ That's terrible dude! I'm so sorry I know what it's like to lose a VCR I had a JVC VCR DVD recorder since towards the end of 2018 until on September 11, 2020 I'll share my story with you about how I lost my VCR it happened out of nowhere what happened was in May I took my VCR out of my closet so that I can watch a tape and when I was done using my VCR I put it away into my mom's bedroom for over the summer On September 11, 2020 I took my VCR out of my mom's bedroom and when I tested the VCR to make sure that it still works I put a tape in the VCR and the VCR would shut off every time a tape goes in it I'm not kidding and when the VCR would power back on it would eject the tape but thankfully it never ate the tape I was absolutely shocked when I found out that my VCR died after I put it into my mom's bedroom it was the most unexpected thing that happened like how your VCR died out of nowhere I'm about to get my broken VCR to go to the dump sometime and I'm gonna replace my broken VCR with a Sony VCR DVD recorder combo for in the future

    Well...I would say possibly try to find a way to disassemble the door mechanism. I had one of my favorite VCRs, a Panasonic PV-1461 short out a transistor back in June while playing a tape. I was able to quickly remove the cassette carriage and since I had another machine from the 1986 era chassis (Magnavox VR-9510), I swapped out the chassis, plugged in the PV-1461's carriage in the connector slot and got the tape out. I had to take the PV-1461 to Lincoln TV for a new transistor and an entire recap. Jon, the owner, is a great guy if you live in Columbus BTW.
    I do not know Sony VCRs very well. If you completely unplug the machine, disassemble the chassis and reassemble then the deck does this again to a cassette, there are two theories that I have.
    1. Dirty or misaligned mode switch. You need to locate this component inside your VCR. It is possibly near a cam gear assembly. This switch would usually be in a rotary compartment that has a plastic cover. Remove the cover and clean the contacts with alcohol, then reassemble with the correct alignment (there would be several arrows pointing to where the plastic cap should be locked).
    2. I have a Sony SLV-679 that my father heavily used. After years of the eject mechanism practically shooting tapes out, it stopped working altogether. The pinch roller would fail to make contact with the tape, thus rendering it unable to stabilize in play mode. I brought the deck to Jon and he said that the cam gear assembly under the pinch roller/capstan unit has plastic that becomes brittle and cracked. Unfortunately, the only solution in that case as there is no replacement part readably available, is to junk the unit for parts.

    I know. This is terrible. I still have my Panasonic Omnivision PV-V5430S VCR from 2000, and still works (I’ve had it since May 2018).

      @ Yep! This VCR is from 1998. There were many of them on eBay which it cost a lot of money. I saw it at when it’s priced at $80 which is very expensive for a working VCR.

    to be honest,
    i feel very sorry for your vcr, the 1991 french vhs of fantasia did it. if you hate that tape so much, then why bother getting it? if you really hate that tape, dont get it again, forget about the tape, and move on with life. i have seen too much screwed up copies of that tape on your channel, i kinda feel like you should move on from that tape if it's giving you problems.
    edit: also if you really dont like/hate that tape, then please stop ordering more copies of that tape. ur just wasting your own money on a tape u dont even like anyway.
    just saying, not trying to hurt you

    • @SimasTube19
      @SimasTube19 4 года назад

      also if you can try opening the vcr and the best way you can, try getting the tape out with ur hands. That can possibly get it out. The cause of the tape going back in is cuz the strip didn’t fully wind back into the cassette itself.
