    THANKS !!! Like so many other guys commenting here I was so pissed off and confused with my stringing methods of this.... I was taking the top off and wrapping it and trying to then get the top back on with the string going boing all over....and forcing it together..... Lmao...... God this is so simple to do when you do it the correct way lol. Thanks !!!

      From what I've heard Dewalt is an overpriced black and decker....I used to be a Dewalt fan until I did a little research and realized milwaukee is 100x better and usually cheaper....Dewalt also uses false advertisements like stating that they have a 20v drill when it states on the box, next to the Asterix, that working load is 18v....very deceptive marketing!

    I've had a gas Ryobi for many years and finally upgraded to the Milwaukee M18 Quik-Lok. Anyway with the Ryobi, I must've had that thing for 5 years not realizing I was winding the string incorrectly. I'd take the head off, then wrap string to one half of head and lock it in, then wrap string to the other half and lock it in. Then carefully stick the head back on the trimmer without it blowing up in my face, which it often did. Fast-foward 5 years, come to find out the trimmer could be loaded without removing the head. Guilty as charged for not RTFM.

    I just bought the quick-lok system this past week. I cannot get the factory string to eject while it’s running. I bang it lightly on the ground, nothing, I bang it harder on the ground, nothing, while running of course. I’m ready to pull all the factory string out and replace it with thicker string, with hopes of rewinding the string and getting the string to eject or re-feed itself when I need more string..

    Purchased M-18 weed eater about a year ago, was one of those ‘deals’, where son got very good deal on a weed eater, and blower and only needed blower, we needed weed eater , win win, right?!
    So when he brought the box , I Read the directions for stringing( if you haven’t guessed, I’m the wife😊). Now comes this year, not thinking anything of it, it runs out, husband says he must restring, both weed eaters. Refuel gas, charge M-18 again. Ok… then I hear what sounds like a BEAR coming into my kitchen( I hunt, I know an angry bear ) and my dog even barked, grand daughter , 2 yes old, said “what’s that!” As she stood and ran to me, only to see my husband walk into the room and say, “ I can’t get that string on the stupid weed wackier! I had many different kinds before and NEVER had THIS kind of trouble!!!!!”
    Grandson 6 went with him “ to help”😂 came running back into the house after 5 minutes, ( Never did that before) saying” Poppy is mad at the weed wacker and is yelling REAL loud!””😂 after explaining that he wasn’t angry at HIM, grandson said, “ I know, but I NEVER heard Poppy yell before, and I just got out of there” ( smart kid) husband came in said, can you look up and find how to string this, I’m DONE!…
    I find your video, I’m watching, and I see how easy, and I’m thinking,” hmm, this looks familiar…. Omg, I read the directions, and This is HOW it said to do it🤦🏻! !” I didn’t have the nerve to tell my husband ( right away, ) this, I had to wait till HE strung the dang thug his self first, lol. Your video is Very good, and instructive, one exception, please add string length or any necessary measurements, to any future episodes. Thank you! ( he Did string it very quickly after watching you!😃

    Boss now that youve used the Gen 1 and Gen 2 quikloc for awhile, do you see much of a difference is performance between the two string trimmers.

  • @danielkilbourn4961

    String didn’t last 2 times around my house and broke off several times in the head unit. I also did pro landscape maintenance and this spins the wrong direction. When held by a right handed person the motor will be on your right, head on the left. The head spins in a counter clockwise direction (from the top) which throws ALL the debris directly into your shins if you are walking a fence line on the left side where the head is. If the motor spun in a clockwise direction it will throw all debris in front of you instead of at you. This is the only weed eater I’ve ever had to spin counter clockwise. Why did they do that?

  • @1926howiemack
    @1926howiemack 3 года назад +1

    Bought this m18 string trimmer and blower combo. I went to weed eat and it lasted about 5 minutes and string got jammed up inside. Had to take the head off and had a very difficult time getting the tangled string out. Put string back in just like the video and ran 30 seconds jammed again. Took off the bump head and had to work for a hour untangling it. I am very disappointed in the string head. I was hoping that since I paid more for a quality product it would work right. Then to make matters even worse the blower I got won't switch between turtle and rabbit speed.
    I guess I will box it up and chalk it up to experience and store it somewhere in the garage and go back to my gas week eater which has always worked without issues. So if you are contemplating buying one it may not be as easy and reliable as they advertise. You shouldn't have to work two hours to feed a string and then it won't feed correctly. I have the 10" chain saw head hope it will work or else I am out of $6oo +

      You can only use rabbit speed with the supplied 8 Amp battery, I was thinking the same thing myself right away after putting a 5 Amp battery on it and not being able to get it beyond turtle mode... With a fully charged 8 Amp battery, the blower hit warp speed within a quarter of a millisecond 😂

I kept finding myself using my other trimmer waaay more (Ego battery) and just passing this one up because of what I thought was a hassle, but apparently, my method had the wire all tangled up inside the head to wear I had to use needle nose pliers to cut some of the line off.
