    Very helpful advise. Also by offering us different types of carriers,. like Epsom Salts, it allows for more ways to dispense oils. Bath bombs are a good example of use when we want to dilute with Epsom Salts. Thanks again. Very informative.

    Can you use these oils on dogs like the peppermint and lavender oil or can you us the essential oils in a heating lamp for smell or aroma

    • @TaraWagner
      @TaraWagner  2 года назад

      You can utilize oils in diffusing jewelry or a diffuser. And, while those oils are safe for animals, each animal will react differently so be mindful of what does and doesn't work for yours.

    Can you use perfumer alcohol to dilute essential oil when making spray perfume

    • @TaraWagner
      @TaraWagner  2 года назад +1

      Good question! I haven't tried it myself but I know you can use all means of alcohol, so I'd assume perfumer's alcohol would be the same. Let me know how it goes!

    I have a question about roll-on bottles and dilution... I see everywhere different takes on what % of dilution they should be. For example, I see on one video they put 40 drops of essential oil in one 10ml bottle (20% dilution) but most sites say 5-10% is the max you should use. I'm trying to make perfume oil with various essential oils. I don't see how I can make a complex, let alone a well mixed 3 ingredient blend with just 6-10 drops. Is it reasonable to use at least 20 drops and filling the rest with carrier oil? or perhaps I need to blend the oil first, let them mix, then take a dropper and use 6-10 drops of that? I'm not sure how it works

    • @TaraWagner
      @TaraWagner  2 года назад

      That's a great question, in which typically it depends on the oil and the carrier oil that you are using. In general, a 2-3% dilution is safe and appropriate for everyday use on the skin (adults). It is suggested by doTERRA that you can go as high as 1 drop of essential oil to 3 drops of carrier oil. I suggest sticking to a small surface area of skin when using oils at this ratio, such as your pulse points which works well for testing out roller bottles.

      I’m trying to figure out the science behind it as well. I just started blending my own essential oils for perfumery and in one of my blends I have like 14 drops for 10 mL of carrier oil.
      It’s not going to smell that good if it’s only just 10 drops.

    • @RoyalGuardEziode
      @RoyalGuardEziode 2 года назад +2

      @@fkgoogle666 I'm still trying to figure it out :( im thinking for perfumes that maybe it's better to use fragrance oils rather than essential oils. Essential oils seem to be for things with more purpose/intent rather than smelling nice. I've made a few with 14-16 drops of essential oil and they haven't been harmful. Currently I'm trying to make a good blend in a separate container which i will then take a pipette and try a safe dilution of 7 drops like i see everywhere else. i have a feeling that the oil won't last very long though

    • @fkgoogle666
      @fkgoogle666 2 года назад +1

      @@RoyalGuardEziode Everyone has a different opinion on dilution rates. I’ve seen that 5% is okay.

    If I want to make a perfume spray or a room spray can I use everclear and essential oils? And what ratio would I use those together? If I am making a perfume spray do I have to also add a carrier oil?

    • @TaraWagner
      @TaraWagner  2 года назад +1

      Great questions! If you are creating a room spray, I would use distilled water and essential oils. To make a perfume spritzer, you could use something like witch hazel or vodka that you put the oils in and are diluted very well, and then you can spray it on like a perfume. The overall ratio will depend on the oil that you are using and the strength of the aroma that you are going for.

    • @CassieCent
      @CassieCent 2 года назад

      Thank you so much for your response. My issue with the distilled water is that it will go bad quickly because water can grow mold or bacteria and then i’m spraying that in the air. Is it safe to just use like ever clear with the essential oils only as the room spray? And if using something like everclear and essential oils as a perfume spritz example like a 2oz bottle, how much alcohol to essential oil would be used? Is there anywhere that I could find a guide on how much oil to use per oz of alcohol? Right now i’m using vanilla orange and/or cinnamon essential oils

      Anything you can diffuse or use topically you can use as a spray! Just mix wit something like vodka or maybe witch hazel instead of water.

    • @TaraWagner
      @TaraWagner  4 года назад

      Some people don’t. Others don’t for years. Some do on first application. Because you never really know if it’ll build up over time, and because there are other benefits to dilution, it’s still helpful.

    Excellent education. Well explained and backed up. I am afraid you lost me when the dotera plug happened. Turned me off completely and I was tempted to stop watching. The quality of the first part of the video convinced me to stay and give it a chance. But I am glad to see they have a rep with good solid knowledge to be shared. I give credit where credit is due. Well done.

      Thanks Sandra! After 20+ years with oils, I’ve had a looooooot of bad or just subpar experiences with oils. While no company is perfect, my experiences with them and their oils has made me a bit of a doTERRAist. 😂 I appreciate their die hard commitment to quality in an industry that is inconsistent at best.
