Dude, this is a killer diy. Love it, been watching a million videos and this by far the best diy I've seen. I'm making one this weekend thank you for the video. I'm getting into making simple movies and do a lot of gameplay videos. Once again thank you coming up with something so simple but very useful.
We were JUST in the store and wanted a fig rig but balked at the 300 dollar pricetag. Totally making this in a the next few days. Thanks, and keep making more vids like this!
I just made this rig today 2/18/2021 and it was cheap cheap cheap and it works after a few other personal modifications for stabilization its damn there just as good as a expensive stabilizer/cam holder. $800 rig vs $15 rig and the winner is $15 🎉 🏆 . Its not the best of the best but it does a great job.
Just to add to my last comment, this channel has 2 million subs AND STILL people are whining, they're obviously doing something right. Keep it positive folks.
I've built other more steadicam type rigs that are a different design than this, usually you want a lot of weight or a counter-balance over your shoulder. You could possibly add on to this one but simply adding a connection for a weight. Once it's heavy you can run and jump with it and it will be pretty darn smooth!
That's a good idea but you'd probably want to at least have it pivoting with some sort of guide, like maybe a slot that a bolt fits through. That way you don't run the risk of it popping out, it's still fairly flexible. But maybe it would stay in place too, let me know if you try it!
I tried it with no difference. Then I stacked 2 large washers and two hose gaskets to absorb the shock under the camera and it worked fine. Might add a bit of counterweight too like 25/Eight Films said.
I shoot with a Canon 7D so I borrowed another Canon from a friend to use as the demonstration, it's a Canon Rebel T3. (It's used just to show what a similar camera looks like on the rig, I did not shoot any footage with it)
I like this. I was just web window shopping, trying to save a few bucks. You just saved me a lot. I like that you can put the monitor on it and add on. Do you have a video to show it with lights and on a tripod?
Thanks for the Video! I just finish making this as another useful TOOL in my filmmaking arsenal. One question, the 2 inch was not long enough to reach the top to screw my camera into?
The FigRig mounting frame construction with a 1 handed 3-axis gimbal stabilizer like the Zhiyun Crane 2 or DJI Ronin S mounted inside it would do wonders I bet (especially with a GH5 and OIS lens).
I was thinking of building this so that I could mount an external shotgun mic to it instead of the camera. My Nikon autofocus is so loud that audio is killed by it. I think removing the mic from direct contact with the camera should help. Any thoughts? Any experience?
When using the removable handle, what is your technique for gripping the rig? Are you holding it loosely or tightly? When holding the sides I'm getting great results. With the handle, not so much.
If the lower T connector is loose and has machine bolts to secure the camera at any height level you want it to look at would be even better. I see some shots of the skateboarder were looking a little bit to low so it would come in handy if the camera angle was adjustable too!
It's definitely not something ultra-smooth like a glide-cam or steadicam, it's mostly for getting a much better grip on your camera so it doesn't just fly around in (or out of) your hands. It still relies on your ability to move it around smoothly.
CineFix Can you LINK me to directions on how to build something to hold my tablet and smart phone? Im trying to figure something out and cant really think of anything practical..OR maybe a LINK to what you are using??
Also the focus ring on the early EOS Rebel Txi models is really noisy, but from the T4i they got STM lenses and recording movies with AF became a real pleasure.
made it today..not sure how much more stable it makes the camera..but..i'll give it more time..shooting some of my fanmovie this sunday..so we'll see..Would like to know the set up for the monitor..whats used to attach it and such..
+Hallie Parker well..i hate to say it..but no. I can keep my camera more stable either just holding it..OR putting it on the tripod and walking around with it like that..It was a quick lil project, but just didnt work at all for me..
I created my own verision of this but i added hand grips on the sides withe the left over pvc pipe i drilled a hole through bothe sides of the square frame then i took a 6in peice of pvc and drilled a hole through it and added a nut on the end to give the stabilizer an even better stabilization
if the pvc holder were a little bit longer, you could have rested it on your shoulder and maybe that would do a little bit better to avoid the shaky movements.
Hey guys! I'm a new film-maker and was just wondering how this would work with my Canon Rebel T5i. Will it be too heavy for this stabilizer? Just let me know!
Cool. Perhaps you shouldn't glue the T with the handle so that it can twist as needed. Maybe even lube it a little so it wouldn't squeak. It shouldn't come loose as the corners are glued and holding the pipes into it.
bought the OTG cable for my dslr and lg smartphone only to be told my cell dont support it..really? how is that? it runs 4.0..would think it would work..sux..I have the Nikon D3100 and LG showtime Optimus
If it's still shaky, fill the tubes with sand, and place styrofoam tubes on the left and right sides of the rig. And boom. Smooth as silk.
+Anonomyous yeah. Sand gives it little more counter weight. And the styrofoams absorb the shock from your hands
+25/Eight Films could you link a picture how it looks like?
so im gonna fill the tubes up and down a sand and a styrofoam for left and right to have counter balance? could you link me also a picture pls thanks
Pls make a video of it

the steady cam comes down to the user, I made one myself and it works awesome, if your complaining you just suck at using it
I made this today and it came out perfect. Everyone thought I actually brought it when they seen it. Thank you very much!
You really shouldn't call it a stabilizer, it's just a camera holder.
couldnt agree more
It also helps to make your video not shaky
The video looks pretty shaky though
@@FilthyReech nah at all it stabilaze the things
@@FilthyReech yeah but less shaky than it would have been without it
welp that did literally nothing, might as well just hold the camera...
Wow, I'm going to build this thing this weekend. Excellent instructions. Thanks.
"It can fit on any camera in the world,in America." LMAO

What were your modifications? I want to try this so it would be really helpful if you can tell me what you did in order to make it more stable.
you should make the part 4 video to tell us how does it stabilize the camera!!!
Just to add to my last comment, this channel has 2 million subs AND STILL people are whining, they're obviously doing something right. Keep it positive folks.
Glad you enjoyed it, Kendra! Tweet us a picture when you're finished...@CineFixNetwork :)
Just be creative and make it up as you go along! That's all we do :)
A Job is actually one thing I didn't attempt to make myself, I bought a good one for a decent price. But I know it can be done!

Thanks! I made it and it works awesome!
That would be awesome ! Waiting for it !
I have finaly found a cheap easy way to make this thank you!!!
Cool build, excellent Channel- Subbed.
This is awesome, i hope you make more videos like these.
I built one! I'll probably do an upcoming episode about it.
Great Ben that trick was cool.
Was it really necessary to make three separate videos for this build? Really?
You know... more views! >.> #Meh
His channel, his way.
can you share a link for that external monitor? where can we get one?
Will do. :)
Wow great camera holder and 5$ amazing dustin nice job :)
ohh man !! this is soo goood ! im totally going to make this !! thank youu !!
@DrDanicio It's all the actual shot, no post stabilizing whatsoever!
Seems to work pretty well ! A homemade dolly would be awesome :)
You're welcome!
I shoot with a Canon 7D so I borrowed another Canon from a friend to use as the demonstration, it's a Canon Rebel T3. (It's used just to show what a similar camera looks like on the rig, I did not shoot any footage with it)
thanks so much! im doing an advert for my advertising project and this was so helpful :)
I´ve build it for €7.50 it works soo well ! Thanks!
This is pretty good
Thanks, this will be a valuble item for our filming :D
I like this. I was just web window shopping, trying to save a few bucks. You just saved me a lot. I like that you can put the monitor on it and add on. Do you have a video to show it with lights and on a tripod?
just came across this ..perfect just what i was looking for thanks
Thanks for the Video! I just finish making this as another useful TOOL in my filmmaking arsenal. One question, the 2 inch was not long enough to reach the top to screw my camera into?
He clearly said use the 3 inch for the camera and 2 inch for the handle bar
a lot of people in the comments say negative things about this stabilizer. Remember guys you paid $5 for this. Pretty good for $5
The FigRig mounting frame construction with a 1 handed 3-axis gimbal stabilizer like the Zhiyun Crane 2 or DJI Ronin S mounted inside it would do wonders I bet (especially with a GH5 and OIS lens).
Soooo amazing
Subscribed!!
Thanks I found this video helpful
smooth shakes. Like it
Thanx a lot bro. Needed it badly... Got it made afterall...
How is it? Is it stable, do you need to add sand?
This is worth it, it cut out a lot of the shaking and now my pans and tilts and dolly ate much smoother
Made it and was really effective bro tx
I was thinking of building this so that I could mount an external shotgun mic to it instead of the camera. My Nikon autofocus is so loud that audio is killed by it. I think removing the mic from direct contact with the camera should help. Any thoughts? Any experience?
Got yourself a new Sub
very awesome idea but how can I manual focus using this stabilizer !???
any ideas !?

Made it, super cheap and functional
thanks a lot for your video, it's helpful
i justed made it! and it look cool!
TO ANYONE WHO IS GETTING SHAKY SHOTS...ADD ANKLE WEIGHTS THE HEAVIER THE BETTER THE SMOOTHER THE SHOT... check my page for results
exactly what I was thinking!
+PLEASANT VALLEY or you could tie 2 bottles filled with water, more diy! :D
+PlusAmmo good idea!
PLEASANT VALLEY I
no
You save my life!

Well if you have a camera with ibis it would be smoother then this video showed.
CineFix Can you LINK me to directions on how to build something to hold my tablet and smart phone? Im trying to figure something out and cant really think of anything practical..OR maybe a LINK to what you are using??
pretty awesome !!!!
What mic r u using on the camera.. Is that good enough to do one on one interview with people..?
Brilliant, defs making one now thank you sir!
I'm thinking about buying a T31 as my first DSLR, how do you keep focus while moving around?
On the T3i you have to do it manually, but the more recent models have better movie AF mechanisms
Thanks for the response, Rafael!
Also the focus ring on the early EOS Rebel Txi models is really noisy, but from the T4i they got STM lenses and recording movies with AF became a real pleasure.
would this be suitable for the hcx 1000 pro video camera cinefix thank you
Works great
Where specifically did you get your screws from as I'm having trouble finding one's 3" long?
made it today..not sure how much more stable it makes the camera..but..i'll give it more time..shooting some of my fanmovie this sunday..so we'll see..Would like to know the set up for the monitor..whats used to attach it and such..
+mikieson was it useful and did it work?
+Hallie Parker well..i hate to say it..but no. I can keep my camera more stable either just holding it..OR putting it on the tripod and walking around with it like that..It was a quick lil project, but just didnt work at all for me..
Oh okay...
So holding the tripod and moving it gives a stable video?
+Hallie Parker The weight of the tripod acts like a stabilizer.
Did you then add sand to increase its weight?
I created my own verision of this but i added hand grips on the sides withe the left over pvc pipe i drilled a hole through bothe sides of the square frame then i took a 6in peice of pvc and drilled a hole through it and added a nut on the end to give the stabilizer an even better stabilization
Hi can you show us a picture
Fill bottom tube with sand for smoother stabilization
seriously?
like this rig
if the pvc holder were a little bit longer, you could have rested it on your shoulder and maybe that would do a little bit better to avoid the shaky movements.
Curiosity, the footage made with this rig was stabilized with software or is it the real shot?
Hey guys! I'm a new film-maker and was just wondering how this would work with my Canon Rebel T5i. Will it be too heavy for this stabilizer? Just let me know!
Casey Kassien No, you'll be fine.
Thank you! :)
Everybody want to brag about their camera, sheez!! I'll make this as soon as I finish my novel 😉
Cool. Perhaps you shouldn't glue the T with the handle so that it can twist as needed. Maybe even lube it a little so it wouldn't squeak. It shouldn't come loose as the corners are glued and holding the pipes into it.
ok... may have to give this a go... cheers =)
Ohhh I get it, threw that Stabilizer in there for some click bait..... So you're one of thooooose channels....
Does anyone know a good monitor for a DSLR like the one he is using?
thank you so much I just made mine
I spent about $25 on the thing, but I did build it. And I am happy with it. In my opinion, I still ended up with more for way less.
Could you make a shoulder rig?
From my side use a roller holder on it to that it will never be that much shaky
Hey nice vedio
Which is the size of the nut and bolt used
bought the OTG cable for my dslr and lg smartphone only to be told my cell dont support it..really? how is that? it runs 4.0..would think it would work..sux..I have the Nikon D3100 and LG showtime Optimus
I like part 3
Not very much stabilization.
maybe you never shoot before
Dustin I want to make a homemade movie like you. Can you help me and tell us how to in a video? Please I love your work.
Are there modifications you can make to make it more of a steady-cam?
you should make a homemade shoulder mount or a monopod
I wanna make this for a gimbal
Superb
Not really a stabilizer
I built one similar to that, but I bought a cheap eBay motorized gimbal and attached it and make a DIY Ronin. ;-)
nice work bro 😉
Shaky but atleast your honest cuz you showed us the real results, now just a stabalizer effect in premiere or AE and its Hollywood ;)
let me know that monitor name and its price ?
Sirji Please Create Gimbal also for DSLR Camera
build a steady cam please, it would be so sick
would this work with a Galaxy S7? if so how would i attach it to the rig.
You can get a phone mount for a tripod and screw that into the rig.
Might want to consider a metal rig, those s7's do explode.
what else can i use instead of a wingnut?
