There is about a half sec delay on throttle inputs also, so if you add throttle as soon as the indicator starts to rise you want to decrease throttle a hair to counter it. It's the same with AAR.
@@Raptic556 Yep. I wait for more speed to bleed off before deploying flaps because the aircraft doesn't balloon as much at lower speeds when the flaps come down
Thanks very much for this video. I am fairly sh!te at all aspects of DCS but I do love it and so I'll keep trying until I can get it at least 'competent'. I fear my likelihood of being invited to Top Gun is as high as a snakes belly but nonetheless, I can now, at least, fly the correct AoA for the Hornet. Thanks a lot. All the best, Dave
I just started flying the F18. So far in DCS I am mostly flying the F15C &E, The Viper and just started the F22. I have been prepping to do carrier landing so I am trying to tighten up with better control of Speed and AOA. One vid a guy was flying it at 130 knots. I tried but in no way could do that. I see that I settle in at the very same speeds as you do for the most part. I'm going to watch this one a few more times because I am still having to use quite a bit of pitch control. Thank you.
Pitch, in this situation, will change your airspeed, not your altitude. So if you're coming in too high, pull back to lower your airspeed and increase your rate of descent. If you're too low, push forward on the stick to gain airspeed and reduce your rate of descent. At least, I think that's how it works.
Thansk i can land any plane , anywhere except the f18 on MOM . Boy oh boy I struggle, 8/10 breaking the landing gear and missing the cable. Will try the trim potato approach.
in slow flight stick movements inverted - pull up to descend - push down to climb altitude controlled by throttle controls become sluggish attitude to target speed, trim for speed, control altitude with throttle

I love the Hornets slow speed handling. The easiest plane to land.....
That was impressive. Thanks for creating and sharing
Holy shit, thanks for this video. Now I get it, I couldn't get the feeling for it but now it all makes sense!

that was bloody brilliant, thanks a lot for that description. That's finally a good one.
Glad you liked it!
Great video. I struggle with the AoA all the time... Very bad when trying on a carrier...
That's a great illustration! Good job and thank you!
Very good. I do similar but I don't drop the gear until 250 knts, half flaps at about 220, full at 200
Gear + Full flaps is max speed 250

Thanks for the video, my landings have been very rough in the Hornet. lol
Keep at it. You’ll come to know the hornet as the easiest plane to land once you get it sussed.

@@Feintgames Yep, I overcame this back when I posted. But thanks!
The EASIEST way is just enable ATC when you slow to 140, couple bumps of up trim doesnt hurt either... Gear speed in the hornet is 250 FYI
I always struggle with aoa, why haven't i thougt of that earlier. That's genious
Great video. :) Thank you for the content! :)
thanks for the video! Why is the angle of attack sometimes shown and sometimes hidden in the hud?
you need to engage the landing gear.
Thank you sir! This helped me a lot!
Nicely done !

wow nice landing
Thanks, this helped a lot.
can you do this same video in an f14
Thanks for the tutorial!!
+1
Good tutorial
Nice!
my landings are quite messy. I will try that and comment again ....
oh deer
basically slow flight
in slow flight
stick movements inverted
- pull up to descend
- push down to climb
altitude controlled by throttle
controls become sluggish
attitude to target speed, trim for speed, control altitude with throttle

Man oh man you have that AoA locked in good. Impressive.
PS: it’s gross to hear your heavy breathing and mouth noises. Just a tip
I dont find it gross, thats normal, depending on the mic
