I upgraded from the 5L to the 6L V2 for the tripod locks and found that the "G hooks" that PD provided didn't lock well enough and I ultimately ended up losing my mini tripod. PD states that they were aware of the problem but I am not sure if it's actually resolved. Careful if you use smaller tripods.

it has pros and cons, the 6 one is more like shoulder bag, but the 5 one is like the 3 but just bigger, a real sling bag

I think the extra space at the top is useful to fill the inside pocket. I'm thinking on upgrading my 5L to a 6L because I can't put almost anything on that pocket without putting too much pressure on my X-T3's LCD screen. If I put the camera sideways, it's even worse.

If you don't want to use the extra space in the 6L by putting items on top of you camera then put them underneath it. I suppose we all carry different items, but I have no problem putting hats, sunglasses, scarves, etc on top of my camera in my 5L, but it can still a bit tight sometimes, so I'm going to buy the 6L to make use of that extra headspace.

The front pocket of the 6L seems less tight than the 5L. I don’t know why they don’t pad the bottom of the bag. Alternatively, a camera cube with a handle and a strap can fit into a larger backpack, most of them are about 4~6L.

Great spot-on review! I am looking for the reviews since V1 sling bags are heavily discounted these days. I checked out both bags but ended up buying the V1 5L one. I love the bag. Only one feature I would like to have is the dual zippers on V2.

Thanks. I'm currently looking at a used 5 litre. [EDIT// never mind, i see from another comment that you did get two dividers] I seen a Peak Design video here for the five litre -- shows it with two dividers (the used one I'm looking at also has two ...)

Thank you for your video! The slimmer profile in V2s is the biggest flaw. Even now in 2022, I went with the v1s for 5L and 10L. I hope they address it in V3.

Weird :) mine 5 liter came with 2 dividers? 1 normal and 1 with a level-up. It can easily hold a A7III with the Tamron 28-75 and Tamron 17-28.
    We also have a 3L v2 with the A6400 - 18-135 and the 70-350.
Both combo’s fit in the back with either lens attached to it :)
Great comparison, wont go with the 6L, no need to upgrade.

I was wrong about the dividers. I did have two and edited that in the description. Thanks for pointing it out! I just never used the other. I think the bags are great for just a camera and a lens but nothing else. I just needed a bit more for video.

great I also have the A6400 - 18-135 and the 70-350. But I am actually looking at the 3L V2 for the A6400 and the Sigma F 1.4 trio: 16-30-56 mm. Do you think tat combo would fit in the 3L V2 too?

I have the 6liter and I like it a lot. Still I found that it is small for my main camera..

The 6L seem to be taller yet skinnier than the 5L. Would you say you can fit a dslr with a mic attached better in the 5L for a quick in and out access compared to the 6L? great review!

    • @aWanderlustForLife
      @aWanderlustForLife  3 года назад +1

I tested this with my husband's Nikon Z6 and Rode Video Micro and my camera, Sony a6600. Both bags are too narrow to leave a mic on top. There is room for a mic but it will have to be detached.

I think you would like the 6ltr bag because it feels more secure and the straps are better. Thanks for the vid : )

    • @aWanderlustForLife

It definitely feels more secure thanks to the new design!

  • @numchuck180

Btw. That 'locking mechanism' doesn't lock at all. If you look at the 'handle' closely, it just pivots with no contact to the strap whatsoever. It literally serves no purpose. I was quite disappointed when I got my camera strap with the same 'mechanism'. Not a single RUclipsr/review pointed this out.

I'm sorry but I really don't know what you mean. And if people didn't mention it, maybe it wasn't an issue for them, or didn't notice? I wasn't paid and I have bought many PD products. I didn't purposefully hide anything.

    • @armins9219

@@aWanderlustForLife he’s trying to say it’s not a locking mechanism. It actually isn’t. It’s just a tool to make it easier for you to use your finger to make adjustment. I believe PD mentions this in one of their videos.

that height of 6L is only good for camera that attached with a long lens.

Prediction: The 5L wins over the 6L because the 5L is easier to hold open.
[Sadly, only the 10L-V1 has an easily accessible front pocket. Why, Peak Design?!?]
