I really hope that Wizkids continues to acknowledge the quality and conciseness of these videos, they're easily the best in the community, and more informative/enjoyable than any of the 'official' ones. Please don't ever stop :)
Thank you for your very positive comments. And I can tell you that @WizKidsGames have been great in helping out the channel, especially with feedback and product.
Forgot the key change to Stealth in the video... The line of fire to an adjacent character is not considered hindered anymore, meaning you could use Outwit on an adjacent stealthy opposing character, for instance.
And, in hindsight, the change to Barrier is certainly worth mentioning; the blocking terrain markers don't need to be placed in clear squares any longer.
Thanks to Mikeneto the Great for pointing these out!
Another thing I missed (human person, here ;o)... Battle Fury doesn't have the Safeguard: Incapacitate, but a character using Battle Fury can't be given action tokens by opposing effects, which is an even more powerful protection. Thanks to Matthew Ventura for picking up on that one.
My favorite HeroClix rule explainer. Keep up the great videos.
You're too kind!
Exactly! I was just about to leave the game, until i found this out... then came straight here for clarification.
I practically cried when I heard they removed indominable. My Yugioh clix finally have a chance to stand up to other clix now. Because more than half of them, even some of the boss clix, didn't have indominable.
Telekinesis also cannot be used to place opposing characters any more, only friendly characters and objects
Good review. Looking forward to the comprehensive rules to answer some of the lingering questions.
Great video!
I've been playing clix since 2003. I'm interested to try out these changes. I think its important to cut down on massive alpha strikes and this should help in that regard.
Also really looking forward to the new ww set.
Battle Fury actually basically does protect from incap because it also says “can’t be given action tokens by opposing effects”
Also barrier no longer needs to be placed in “clear terrain.” Pretty big buff to be able to barrier on hindering, obscuring, and water now.
Ha! I missed that completely. My bad. Thanks!
@@TheTabletopTeacher Great video! However, is there any way you might edit it to include the two major changes mentioned by Matthew above (Barrier, Battle Fury), plus the Precision Strike change that allows for multiple targets? That way it would truly be comprehensive.
I watched another one of your videos and answered my own question. You have the best quality videos. I look forward to seeing many new ones.
With me friend we started play heroclix last year. We thank you becouse you arę best heroclix teacher we saw. You hale best opening brick and i hope you get opening WW set.
In the case of barrier is no more restrictive to a clear terrain your can do it in hindering or water terrain
1:29 leap/climb work well with powers that occupy its same slot and so the power itself is as useful as when it was a MOVE (pointless outside of special powers or traits). Good start.
Interesting on TK. I have a Polaris that does extra damage on object attacks. I think I can still use it.
I've been waiting for you to do this! :D
Great video as always. Clear, easy to follow and on topic. You set the bar.
This is obviously better, but there are some things I miss. Like the different levels of objects, for instance. It’s probably better this way, but it felt right that hitting someone with a fridge would hurt more than hitting them with a bowling ball.
Wow, I haven’t played heroclix in almost 10 years. I was excited to get back into them, but after watching all these rule changes, I’m starting to remember why I stopped...
This was very well done, and upbeat; thank you.
Thanks for the video!
It helps so much ! Instead of bashing my head in the rules for an hour + just to understand subtilities.
Do you think you'll make a coverage of your tournament at the Tabletop Boutique when it's possible to host them again? Could be really cool to have your commentary over gameplay !
It would be nice to comment game at some point... Getting the right equipment for filming it properly is something I would like to do at some point. I can't promise anything, but my patrons on Patreon sure do help ;o).
Can i combine presicion strike with multi targets now?
Since that power has a diferent descripcion now.
Looks like it. Avengers age of ultron Hawkeye 94 points is back!
I don't think anybody on RUclips has emphasized that Leap/Climb and Charge are on the same slot in the window.
The best, keep it going man youre keeping the game alive and helping people play!!
Quake says, “if 1+ characters were targeted each hit character is dealt 2 damage instead of normal damage.“ Pulse wave wave says, “if 1 + characters were targeted, each hit character is dealt one damage instead.” So since the wording is similar, you can no longer single target pulse wave for full damage or single target quake for full damage.
For Pulse Wave, that is correct; whether you are hitting 1 or several characters, damage dealt is always 1 from now on. Since Quake grants the Knock Back keyphrase "outside" of its multi-target effect, you could very well make a regular close attack (with full damage) and cause knock back with that attack.
@@TheTabletopTeacher got it 😉👍 so you wouldn’t be technically quaking, just single targeting and knocking back.
@@Nightwing6422489 yup. It wouldn't work with powers that combine movement and Quake, specifically.
Indomitable is just straight dead now? No compensation? There goes my over tuned CAAV Captain America.
I hope wizkids really gives u stuff because my Friends and I have spent like hundreds of euros only because of you
There are very generous, indeed. I'm glad you're enjoying the game (it's my favorite... could you tell ;o).
Great video! Thanks for explaining things so well!
Chould you do a full combo video
Sweet!!) Ill be back to watch vid .😇
Merci pour cette super vidéo mon ami! On ce vois bientôt j'espère!!!
Could you enlighten me on the concise difference between Move and MOVE. My brain is fighting me on these definitions.
MOVE, in all caps, is one of the four non-FREE actions in the game (POWER, CLOSE, RANGE, MOVE), but "move" is something a character might do as part of an action. Let's say a character can use Phasing/Teleport. If the player gives that character a MOVE action to use Phasing/Teleport, that character will get the improved movement that comes with Phasing/Teleport. Let's say this same character can also use Running Shot; the "move' part of Running shot doesn't grant the improved movement they would get from using Phasing/Teleport.
@@TheTabletopTeacher Thank you for your feedback. Keep up the good work.
thank you i was looking for this
The person who disliked this got a booster without cards XD
I find the new rule book doesn't have enough information for some things . The pac is fine somewhat I just wish there was more of a core rule book with all the rules to deal with everything that might come up
There is! Don't know if you found it in the year since, but there is a comprehensive rulebook for the Empyre set and a new PAC. Very useful stuff
I'm new to Heroclix. How do I use the Wonder Woman and her Invisible Jet from the Wonder Woman home kit? And what's the benefit of having the invisible Jet? Does it take damage?
Im wondering about House of X Forge's Perplex damage "+2" if you share 2 or more keywords .... because it seems like it could still apply to changing damage
Except Common HOX Forge specifically says '...the chosen value, except damage...'
@@mikenetothegreat6233 Dang i see it now. Good call... Just starting to play so trying to build teams and learn and teach my son...Its hard to find the right people to answer that right questions!! Thanks so much for your comment!
@@johnnyboatfield9489 It's all good and happy to help.
When it comes to learning to play, as long as both players agree on how something works, it really doesn't matter. It's only when you get into 'official' play that little details like that start to matter.
Haven't played game. But I've been collecting hero clicks figures for ages. But I keep up But the new rules look more easy. Tell the truth. Can you still use last year figures. As They keep changing the game. Haven't been on your show for ages. Keep safe👍😷
Which is the difference between light objects and light objects with new rules?
It would seem that only difference now is that heavy objects can only be picked up by characters with Super Strength, but there might be other details in the Comprehensive Rule Book.
So what does hindering terrain do now? Nothing?
I am curious about force blast. I believe it does damage but I'm starting to doubt myself for some reason.
Wait so what's the interaction with super strength and hyper-sonic speed now?
They can still pay attention to a game without changing a major of it.
The no indomitable and ‘leadership like’ change to Willpower is interesting… Was looking at an old assembled team and debating about it as no one with willpower and only one Indomitable BUT since they did away with protection from pushing damage- problem averted lol.
But still…. Annoying that some old figures have that shield with the line image for defense, yet it now means nothing…. Idk why they couldn’t change it, since ‘indomitable’ was basically Willpower, why in all instances like two team abilities granted that ‘indomitable’ and that special shield thing on some figures granted it; why those can’t just grant this NEW version of Willpower…. Just saying.
So super strength is not that special anymore since light and heavy objects deal the same damage?
I got a question: If I play with old stuff with out the slash in the shield do they get to do two actions?
The symbols are the same now so you can because pushing. Damage is gone
love it thanks for the video
Thank you again so much
Ugh..I really dont wanna buy the Starter set just for New PAC...man i really hate having to do that.It would be EASIER if WK Prints these New PACs or Rule books And Sents them to the Stores to SELL to the players. And they would not be too expensive: 5 euro/bucks a piece or New PAC would maybe be 5 bucks/euro and New Rule book 10 Bucks/euro
I'm curious how Leap/Climb is presented on the dial now that it's not a Speed Power... Is like a trait, or maybe like the improved movement symbol? I'm gonna miss indomitable, and Colossal Stamina. ^^;
Not sure I agree with your quake hypothesis. It clearly says when making a close attack on the card.
As a player from the start, I will never use these rules. Staying with 2017.
In Leadership: For all friendly characters that can use Leadership, Action total +1. Please explain.
Besides from removing tokens from units leadership also adds 1 action to your total. As I understand it Leadership stacks basically. If you're playing a 300 point team and have two leaders you have 5 actions now.
Quake should be the same as pulse wave no more single target full damage quake or pulse wave love your vedios alway
I believe pulse wave is semi the same. If you target 1 character, normal damage. If you target 1+ characters, damage becomes 1 instead
But isn't (1+) the same as (one or more) characters? They should have said (more than one), or (two or more).
Nope, pulse wave got nerfed. It’s melee attackers time to shine
I’m having such a hard getting back into the game last I really played was back in 2019. I just don’t think I like these changes
Knock back damage is gone? They could've kept that!
Now Presicion Strike can be used to attack more than 1 character in te same attack.
6:52 Incapacitate now can be combined with other attack powers!... so just like leap/climb, useless because its occupying the same slot as the powers its suppose to work with. Even the example in the video suggest you use an external source to make it useful, and you will notice this pattern on other bad powers: on their own they are even more worthless now.
Indomitable and pushing damage remove is the worst change of all 😫
For my part, I look at all the new possibilities this opens up. Sure, some characters lose their edge, but so many characters that rarely made the cut in my teams will now find a nice spot. It makes many more pieces much more interesting, IMHO.
Agree. I also hate the changes to RCE, CCE, pulse wave, and perplex off the top of my head. The change to hindering terrain is also dumb. Knockback damage should have also stayed in the game
I don't like many of these new changes. I don't like the new sculpt sizes. I think I'm done with organized play.
I miss when Wizkids used to try.
I'm still hoping for an errata on Pulse Wave. If they meant only 1 damage, they could have just said, "Damage is locked at 1. Deal unavoidable damage to all hit characters within LOF."
Your interpretation of Pulsewave is not correct. 1+ means more than 1. Why would they include an "If" unless there is an alternative damage. If only 1 character is targeted means that there are not any possible targets for PW. Single target PW still does full damage.
Wow ,they remove the versality in powers ,if you have all new combinable powers now you can mix them ,damn thats so terrible , no situational ,now you do all ,wizkids simplify the game like hell and thats horrible 👎
I see it differently... I find that newer players will be at less of a disadvantage when playing against more experienced players. Then again, experienced players will always find fantastic and devastating combos with careful Force Building. Most of these changes make the game more dynamic, I find. I can't wait to see how all of this plays out.
@@TheTabletopTeacher hi tabletop teacher ,first of all im your fan.
One of the best things in hc was emulate a superhero fights, just for example, i have a deadshot ,have RCE and EE , its like deadshot have a sniper rifle in case for a long shot ,that is the RCE, but in other case have grande for a many foes, in other clix have RS and Penetrating blast ,in case they need quit the sniper nest and run fight with special gun with kryptonite bullets or something.
Now you can combine the special gun ,granade and the rifle in the same attack...idk maybe is my D&D way to see it but that kills much the diversity of the game
@@GoramYako Thanks! I think we have to see future designs of dials to understand how all of this is going to play out. I understand what you're saying about a character having to make choices in his powers or arsenal, but perhaps this will be more present on different clicks, shifting focus figures, secret identities and similar mechanics, in the future.
Actually the game is worse for new players then before.. Veteran players will be able to one piece new players now.. Think about it.. Making more key abilities passive have made certain figures busted where with the old rules those possibilities where kept in check.. A very small amount of the rule changes where good but for the most part... I dont agree at all. Pushing damage kept strong figures in check making everyone being able to have willpower will speed the game up but is a bad idea.. There still should be a distinction between giant size and colossal figures.. Cosmic figures have just become busted.. God Emperor Doom is now a broken figure as well as Darkseid which was low key busted anyway especially if you mixed him with spider friends.. Smh wizkids you guys opened up Pandoras box.. 📦...
Actually another thing that grinds my gears(lol) about the rule changes.. They claim to have made things easier actually they made things a little more complex.. You see now youre going to have to find figures with enhancement/empower abilities where in as you cant just perplex a figures combat values any longer... Damage is a combat value still.. Smh.. People forget you could perplex down an opponents damage to practically 0.. Cant do that no more.. Damage for heavy objects should always be more then from light objects just makes sense as well as making super strength more useful.. Being able to tk an opponents figure just got replaced with force blasting an opponents figure.. Honestly if you ask me wizkids should have asked people new to the game what makes the game hard to learn rather then asking people who play it competitively who will only complain about how they are lossing to people with equal gameplay experience.. I love all types of games have picked up on Heroclix pretty fast yet as with any game rather its minitures or card games the issue really isnt the game mechanics but either a game breaking card or figure that will abuse the game mechanics.. All eight Doom chases as well as the chases from the spider man set are prime examples.. Yet with the new changes to game mechanics they are just made worse.. Oh well..
