    As an addendum to mu previous comment; I have watched every video on GR’s all over RUclips. Bar None, there is not a single video by anyone that rivals your presentation here. No other presenter has so thoroughly covered a proper way to set up these amazing tools. Been on the bricks as a pro over 5 decades and still strive to improve.

    Watched this great resource many times, scrolling forward, backward to really internalize these great instructions, in setting up identical menu settings to GRIII and GRIIIx. Well done and great cheers to the author.👏🏻

    Thank you for this. I just purchased the GR iii. I am a Fuji shooter and wanted a small carry camera. I purchased a used xf10 and loved it. So, I gave it to my daughter who kept asking to “borrow” it. The perfect justification to buy the Ricoh. Regards….Wayne

    Perhaps try using the wired remote. I wear my GR around my neck, pretty high up on my chest. The remote wire leads to my pocket with my finger on the switch. I can get to conversational distance to subjects with out them knowing I am snapping away. With practice you will learn where to stand and how far down your chest to rest your camera. Also when walking around when I see an interesting subject heading my way I often stop and wait for them to get into my snap focus distance, finger on the trigger in my pocket.

      That is crafty as hell. Any recommendations or which wired remote to go with?

    Hey! It doesnt make sense to set the image control to „positive film“ if the file format is set to RAW! The GR doesnt change the color-settings in RAW, just in JPEG. Or am i wrong?

    Useful info, keeper for future reference.👍 Long press play button powers on cam w/o extending lens, but stays in playback mode - when going into shooting mode lens still extends; so unless I just want to review images I don’t get the advantage of that power-on technique. At start of vid you mentioned highlight exposure option and said you would cover that a bit more later in the vid - didn’t happen.😁. Cheers!

    • @IanSnape
      @IanSnape  3 года назад +1

      Saving power and you can adjust settings without powering up the lens motor which uses more battery, it’s just more useful then having to extend the lens all the time and exposure to dust etc.
      I was talking about how I have the setup of AE and the AF with back button focus setup.
      I rarely use highlight weighted meter an use the centre weighted usually and lock with AE set top shutter button.
      Thanks for watching buddy

      More useful info.
      If you press the play button from off to to turn the camera on in playback mode, keep holding the button down for a few seconds longer and it’ll turn on WiFi mode. Super useful when you want to quickly transfer photos.

    "auto sr off" if its any similar to the pentax K-1, what it does is it will auto turn off sr when you engage the 2sec timer for tripod work so it can be realy handy

    Hi Ian i am a Fuji shooter and have an x-t3 with the 27mm f2.8, the 35mm f2 and the Viltrox 75mm f1.2 i am thinking of selling these lenses to buy a GR3. I will keep the x-t3 and my 18-135 for general use, landscape, etc but i wanted something i can put in my pocket for street photography, would you recommend this?

    • @IanSnape
      @IanSnape  7 месяцев назад

      Yeah GRIII is great, you have to pick it up and try to see if it suits you. Battery life annoyed me in the end with this camera and few other issues i was having so for my the Fuji i have which is the XE4 is way better for my use.
      Thanks for watching

    First thing i'll do tomorrow is changing front wheel to shutter speed and back wheel to aperture ;-)

  • @ZedExGaming

    When I was using back button af I had real trouble using full press snap focus and I found out that if you're not using the shutter to autofocus the snap focus will not work so has to go back to using the shutter button to focus so that full press snap would work again

    • @IanSnape
      @IanSnape  3 года назад +3

      You do not need AF with Snap focus as the camera automatically jumps to a desired focal length that you have set in camera. So i have my touch screen set to Full Press Snap which operates camera super quick.

    Quick Q. Why do you set a snap focus distance and have your full snap press on if your focus mode is AF Select? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of zone focusing? Maybe I’m missing something with the way Snap focusing works in the Gr iii, thanks in advance.

  • @edsweed4604
    @edsweed4604 3 года назад +1

    Can you set the touch screen to snap and continuous to get, say, 3-4 shots in a burst?

    • @IanSnape
      @IanSnape  3 года назад

      Yes i think it does, although i tap the screen mulitple times for more shots.

    Do you think there is a big difference from the ii and iii ? I'm looking at a new GR ii, for street photography, do you think this will be good enough still?

    • @IanSnape
      @IanSnape  3 года назад

      If I'm honest the GRIII is great and has some awesome features but I really think the GRII is just as capable also, the only thing your lacking is the IBIS for those really slow shutter handheld shots.
      Apart from the I think the GRII is a steal.

      I'm kind of late to the party but I own both the GR ii and the GR iii and the color range of the GR ii is way better than GR iii. It also has a second Function button and that makes a world of difference to switch between modes and have back button focus at the same time. Apart from the stabilisation and the slightly more pixels, the GR iii is inferior to the GR ii and I kind of wish I wouldn't have made the "upgrade". I'll be selling the GR iii to get the GR iiiX, just to have a different focal length at least. If you're looking for the most beautiful color range, stick with the GR ii for as long as you can.
