Neversoft was one of the best dev companies to come out. If you saw the Neversoft logo you'd know you were in for a fun game

One of my favorite studios ever. Not only for the THPS series, but also for Guitar Hero; both of which left a lasting impact on me and I still play those types of games to this day. It's a shame that new THPS games and Guitar Hero-type games aren't coming much at all anymore.
This studio was responsible for the 2 games that shaped my whole childhood and personality. My first game on PS2 was American Wasteland and then I got Guitar Hero 2 and that created my love for classic rock and obsession with skateboarding
Guitar Hero II was developed by Harmonix, being Activision it's publisher... Neversoft had nothing to do there, they made GHIII:LoR when Activision purchased Redoctane and they parted ways whit Harmonix.
Neversoft was excellent back in the day. I've been following THPS since the first game, for me the series peaked when THUG1 came out. THUG2 was very fun too. It all went downhill when THP8 and Skate came out, they just couldn't reach the level of quality like with THPS2-THUG2. It's a shame, as they were a super talented studio full of passionate, creative and fun developers.
American wasteland had an almost redeemable factor to it. I enjoyed it. The story was a bit kooky but still felt like Tony hawk.
@@MisfitOutfit Idk how I missed American Wasteland. I enjoyed it way more than THUG2. THUG1 is still my favorite, I guess I was so disappointed by P8 that I forgot about THAW lol. It's a great game with connected level design and with some sick BMX gameplay.
THUG is one of my favorite games of all time. THAW is great for the vast variety of mechanics squeezed in. The lines that were possible with bank drops and such was incredible. I played THUG through THAW online religiously, it was an awesome time and good community; lots of creativity and fun.
Management changed and made them make terrible decisions like adding vehicles to Tony Hawk Underground 2 and making them copy Skate.
Project 8 was the last one I played. I was a big fan too, but that game felt so strange to me. I still remember buying it, not being able to play it until after school the next day, being excited all day, then being let down by the weird controls and the slow motion trick thing. I never got the hang of it. But fuck those first games were so much fun as a kid.
Man do I miss game companies from the 90s. Neversoft, Squaresoft, Raven, etc.

These guys and Black Box played a big part in my life. It's amazing how they were responsible for the golden ages of THPS, Guitar Hero, NFS, and Skate. I would not love cars and skateboarding without them.

Two of those unfinished Neversoft game project, I’ve been picking up and reshifting into the fully story tales with Ghost Rider unofficial-indie stories and Exodus Big Guns novel series.

Activision don't have the Tony hawk Rights anymore and I don't think they'll buy back.
btw at 10:03 (ik it seems unexpected but yet it made me confuse why but yet it is part of your college course so i wont criticize too much espeically how its really simple and got me interested understanding their history) Activision didnt actually bought harmonix, They've bought Red octane who did develop Guitar hero as harmonix was the helping hand when it comes to charts and song choosings. Especially the fact that Harmonix was bought by MTV in the same year

I'm sick of studios getting killed, and the excuse is that _"The studio will not be actually closed, it will be merged with another, no one will lose their jobs",_ the studio was used as food for another.
Worlds first 900? On a board maybe but Mat Hoffman was doing them couple years before Hawk on his BMX bike on the half pipe.

@OP -> @AndyTHPS - this guy is worth looking at! He did the demo gameplay for american wasteland and helped work on the games if i remember correctly? he's worked on a few neversoft titles and was part of the THPS 1+2 remaster that released a short time ago.
