- SILENT HILL 2 is a beloved and timeless classic. No matter how clichéd it may sound, it's true. This is also the reason why we approach working on the remake with such great care and respect for the original game.
With that in mind, one of our primary goals is to preserve the atmosphere that made SILENT HILL 2 so exceptional, while modernizing many aspects of the title’s overall gameplay.

No, that's okay. I'm happy they do something new. We have the original forever. I'm open for some changes, and I think that they honor the source material. The trailer already looks like they do.

just a few things, Don't touch the story, Don't give james an internal Monologue, keep the symbolism, and If it all possible. While i'm sure Yamaoka will make a great soundtrack for the remake, I hope they at least give us the ability to play with the original music as well.

It looks like you guys have nailed the atmosphere and environments. Just please please please remember it’s all the tiny little details that made the original game the greatest horror game of all time.
I Couldn't disagree with you more. They have in no way shape or form captured the atmosphere of the original, in this trailer. James looks cheap and tacky and looks like he's been developed in a rush. The original silent hill looks like a Picasso compared to this trailer.

You have done quite well, just improve James movement animations, specially when walking.
And, in my humble opinion, he could use a Nathan Drake (Uncharted series) sort of concept when it comes to surviving extreme situations while not being that skilled, at least in the first parts (only when it comes to luck, no comedy involved, of course), because it seems your version of James has had many gun handling lessons.

@@MrSantosMantos That's why I would like to see better combat, it's been psychological action horror from the beginning, if action is an option why not have it feel even just slightly fun? I don't want them to turn it into call of duty or anything, I just want the option to block and they ability to side step instead of standing there getting wailed on if I get caught sneaking so relax and ease down of your high horse pal.
If they want to be successful in bringing in new people I think that having a game mechanic that's bad onpurpose will be a concept lost on many.

@@GamPro420 Additionally, even the puzzles in the original were sometimes not spot on. Some were very far fetched like the one with the wax figure or the one with the piece of hair.
Traditional inventory item combination puzzles yes, nontheless far fetched.
This further proofs that this game element doesn't need to be spot on, as long as it can show it's brilliance sometimes, like in the case of the gallows puzzle.
@@MrSantosMantos Id say that it's foolish that you aren't taking into account the year the game came out, and that other survival horror games at the time also had bad combat. If those games came out fresh for the first time in this day and age you can bet dollars to doughnuts that it would he hell of a lot smoother.
I said this in the previous video and i'll say it again, I'm sure you guys know the immensity of the project in your hands, so do it justice, make a great game, and most importantly, a well optimized game so a bigger range of people can enjoy it. The minimum requirements on steam page are overkill, please, try to include us all with this game.

I assecond this, bloober team it's not a guarentee for me, their games are really atmospheric and the sound design is fantastic, but gameplay looks boring after a while to me plus the medium was not optimized at all I was not able to play it unfortunately
So I have really doubt about it

I really want this game to be successful because I want a remake of SH 3, my favorite. But I can't help but feel skeptical and cynical. I just hope they didn't tamper with the story too drastically. I hope they do justice with Angela's story.
Please bloober team, look up the original very carefully before making decisions.... Because from what we've seen from the trailer, you totally missed the point already. Dont mess up the soul that was given to us from silent hill 2, the soul for an entire new subgenre of (psychological)-survival horror games, that even "KONAMI" themselves messed up in EVERY game after silent hill 4. Be blessed, big up, one love and last but not least: GOOD LUCK.

@@JvanEdits Judging by the images on its store page (steam, PlayStation), it should just be in it's stages of production. The same can also be said for the Resident Evil 4 remake, which if this silent hill continues to follow into competition like it did with the convenient showcase, then we might expect a release date before or around March of 2023, resident evil 4's rumored release date (I can't remember if it was confirmed or not).

I've wait longer for this than I've even been alive. I can wait for this game to come out three-four years later and only be an average experience. People will hate this game for being either being or not being Silent Hill 2, but I'll respect you for taking the weight of being possibly Silent Hills revival, regardless of how it turns out. Konami has a lot riding on them in recent media with taking dormant franchises out of retirement. We have yet to see if anything will succeed yet. There's this, and then there's Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater Delta. Those are the big projects. Silent Hill Ascension is already a dumpster fire but I imagined it would be. At this point I'm just an observer of the final product waiting to see what happens.

As much as I would’ve loved to see the first game get the remake treatment first I understand why they chose the second one. It’s an absolute classic in every way. The fact that Bloober Team is behind it is just the icing on the cake. These guys know their horror and I’m sure nobody, who loves the original, will be disappointed.

Ah, finally I'm happy to find someone else on the internet who thinks this will pan out. When I initially heard they were helming the project I was like "what better team to do it then the one where all their games are influenced by silent hill as the main source?" Hell even The Medium had the original Silent Hill music composer for the trailer. They're huge fans and passion is what you want for a creative team tasked with remaking a project. Kinda like the Dead Space Remake. Motive put a lot of passion into that product and you can tell. So I'm sure Blooper will do the same here.

As you already know, Silent Hill 2 is the best title in the series and one of the most impactful horror games of all time, So expectations are sky high.
The feature that made silent hill different and special from other horror games is its psychological horror. In other words, not only relying on jump scares but actually by having a combination of nightmerish and scary atmosphere, spooky and tense soundtracks & sound effects, eerie creatures plus that feeling of confronting the uknown. So i hope you pay attention to all of these elements.
Another thing that i should mention is that please pay attention to feedbacks and criticism of players and also learn from other remakes success ( Remakes like Resident Evil 2, Shadow of the Colossus and Demon's Souls ) and failures ( Remakes like Resident Evil 3 ).
Bloober team this is your golden opportunity. If you nail it, not only you'll get a massive reputation by remaking this valuable horror gem, but you also revive the silent hill franchise and introduce it to the new generation of gamers.
But if you fail backlashes will be brutal and it will be unforgivable.
So take as much time as needed to make a masterpiece and do not present a rushed and low quality product.
Leon Kennedy is so young and handsome in Resident Evil 2 Remake, all young gamers fall in love with that guy, but why is James so old and ugly in Silent Hill 2 Remake?

for the love of god, keep the original sounds intact. like so much of the impact of the historical society, prison, and labyrinth is in the sounds you hear while exploring. any deviations here will make the game worse. go ahead and fix the eddie fight tho lol
I've asked this before but I'm going to ask again. When is the game being released? I was told by one source that it would be released September 29 (today) Predictably no sign of it. So now for all I know the game is cancelled.

Even if you sneeze incorrectly in this game, you will be destroyed. Literally, your studio will cease to exist. I would like your confidence...

Keep the environments and the story the exact same, try your best to keep the subtlety and the nuances of the story as well. Let the player figure it out maybe even over several playthroughts, like how Angela’s newspaper article about how she killed her father can be missed. Don’t shove the emotional dark shit in our faces and recreate the environments lovingly and I think this game could be sweet. I kinda doubt it though
@Bg_NG RE2 remake had basically the same environments and story, just better. Same goes for RE4make. You don’t really need to change much, just take the original game and make it better

I have recently played the original SH2 and I must say that I will definitely appreciate the over-the-shoulder camera. The camera in the original game was very confusing and annoying. I admit, however, that some of the peculiar cinematic angles helped to build up the atmosphere.
Bloober team will fuck this up. Guaranteed. Just the fact that they put Marys face up there at the end is a red flag.
I want this game to be a complete masterpiece just like the original, it my favorite video game of all time without a doubt, the story, the physchology, philosophy, everything all the youtube lore videos etc i have a massive passion for this game. But in a way i am not bothered if this game is a failure, that would worst of course but if it happens it means that bloober will go into bankruptcy, their public trust will be gone and their idiocy gone forever because they failed to make a legendary game legendary in 2023. Konami is the deciever in the gaming world, but unfortunately they own Silent Hill. We can only hope that this game will be as iconic and masterful as the original was, long live Silent Hill 2 my fellow fans!

To be honest I think they will hit a home run with this. This is too big of a project and opportunity for them to mess up and now with the facial expressions the scenes will hit twice as hard I mean James scream gave me chills. Bloober team were rooting for you to make the best remake of a beautifully horrifying game that brought us deeper into silent hill. Thank you for taking the challenge and working with the legendary Masahiro Ito and Akira Yaomaoka. This is your chance to shine. Thank you and good luck!
The dialogue, its delivery and overall strange dreamlike awkwardness is a big contributing factor to the atmosphere of Silent Hill (Think David Lynch dialogue). The realistic emotion and tone we expect from professional video games is appropriate when depicting a "realistic" world that is expected by mainstream audiences, mot a world constructed by a weak, psychologically debilitated man like James. The awkward vulnerability is part a reflection of the state of his soul.
I hope Bloober team is keeping this in mind when executing the delivery of the dialogue.
