I need to be more accepting of my own playing. And, most of all. enjoy what I can already do. BTW-I appreciate the incites even more than the technique lessons.
Hi Stu. Lovely to have you back. A question about strumming: I am not a brilliant musician and I find it difficult to know how best to strum a tune in order to make it a bit more interesting. What do you recommend. Best wishes. Anne
Hi Stu. I'm interested in learning some more cool two-bar strum patterns. Example Me and Julio Down By the School Yard. maybe mixing in some finger picking and a note here and there.
Hi Stew, I really appreciate your videos. My question is, where to strum or fingerpick and what effect it has. More over the soundhole or the fredboard...
Hey stu! I absolutely adore your videos! I have been practising Uke, it is been 6 months now but i don’t know there is something i think not going right. So what according to you should be the Very Basic rule to play Ukulele everyone should know. Also if you can teach Sa Re Ga Ma on the uke. Thanks again! :)
What time on Mondays will you be steaming live? Also, I would love to see an episode on your take on playing advance or experimental chords (extended, altered, suspended, quartal, added, etc) on the humble 4-string ukulele.
Hello.....It sometimes do a similar thing to your 30 second meditation piece, gives me a break whilst still practicing.........I stumbled across a section in your "boogie lick #1 Chicago blues" which to me sounded really like the Stones "lil red rooster" ........my question is.....can you show how you would elaborate to find perhaps an alternative way of playing a familiar song. Thanks Stuart , this is the sort of guidance that I need Dave W
Hi Stu ... how about a lesson on strumming with a pick element ... see Zachary Shimizu's version of "New Slang" on RUclips for an example of what I'm talking about.
Hi Stu. Would you please give us some guidance on harmonics? How to get them to ring and how to drop in judiciously if you know what I mean? Also, I am persisting but I find the triplet strum very difficult. My brain does not want to let my left hand 4 fingers follow different strums and certainly not to play at speed. Happily my left hand is much looser and smarter after following your advice. Thank you.
Hi Bonnie, I made a series of three vids on Harmonics - here is the first of three pasted below. Check out the full playlist "Ukulele Circus Tricks" & "Ask Stu" for more good content. Hope you'll join us o Patreon when I launch the page soon...your support will be much appreciated & also richly rewarded :) ruclips.net/video/MSYossLOv9g/видео.html
@@UkuleleZen Yes I will be following your new venture. I have been holding off subscribing because I have a lot on and have a tendency to be a jill of all trades. I will check out those vids which I must have overlooked. Many thanks again. b
Me gustaría una clase entera cantando mantras y que nos escribas los acordes para poder tocar a la vez que tu. Un Kirtan contigo, puede ser? Sorry, but I cannot tell you This in English. I Love your vídeos, thank you indeed
Hi Stu, good that you're back, your monday videos are the best way to start the week! I do have a question, I work at a bank (sorry) so I have to play my guitar or ukulele (just started) to survive. I was thinking of giving ukulele workshops, do you have any tips on how to start? Kr, Tim
Hi Tim, Thanks for watching! The best advice I could give about workshops is to choose something that you really love and that you really know a lot about… You want to make sure that it something that you can answer questions and be prepared for any surprises 😉 just make it fun for everybody and the rest flows. Good luck! Tell me please, What technical question do you have for a future week’s episode?
Hi Stu, thank for taking the time to answer my question. The idea is to give ukulele workshops. I play the guitar for a long time and I always meet people who say that they wanna play the guitar. But often it never happens, but now that ik play the ukulele I thing I can help them with a workshop. I'm not your competitor, because I life in Amsterdam ;) (no just kidding) So for the technical question I do have one. I would like to learn to play a Spanish strum on the ukulele or guitar. I tried, but I have the idea that I had to be born in Spain and play from childhood to be able to do that. So can you learn us how to play a basic Spanish strum?
Hello, Stu. Let's say I am learning a song and I love how a chord sounds in it but the chord shape hurts to play and doesn't ring clearly, time is passing, progress is at a standstill, and frustration is mounting. What approaches/ work-arounds would you suggest I employ to produce a satisfying sound (and maintain inner calm :-) ) ?
I have an issue with the standard triplets. I like the style of Roy Smeck but regardless of the style I have a hard time regulating the speed of the triplet to match the tempo of the song, it's either too fast or too slow. Do you have any tips or exercises do help with that. I use a metronome but my thumb doesnt give a shit and it does it own thing. I have the mechanics down but it's pretty useless if I cant control it. Thanks.
Hey STU. love the channel and I’ve learned some cool things from you over the years. I have a free uke program here in Virginia Beach for kids and teens. I was considering switching to the Canadian d6 tuning instead of the C6 tuning that I use now. Can you help me come to a decision by comparing and contrasting the two? Thanks and keep up the great work.
Four Finger Frenzy I think there is one thing you might consider when deciding on a tuning when working with kids: the natural pitch they sing at. I'm no expert, but a conductor of several kids choirs told me that at least in Germany there is a tendency to using a slightly too low key when singing with little kids -- he says choirs in England do this better. Things of course change as they grow up ... As singing often plays an important part in children's instrumental education, this might be worth looking into.

Stu, can you offer some examples of musical contexts in which to place the pariah of the triads, the augmented chord?
I need to be more accepting of my own playing. And, most of all. enjoy what I can already do.
BTW-I appreciate the incites even more than the technique lessons.
Thanks for watching & for your input here David. Everyday a little further down the path... :) Play on, Stu
Thanks Stu! I think I got it a few times, but it will take mucho practice to make it work when I need it to work.

I love your lessons so much! Thank you again :)
i'll be back here if i ever can think of a remotely clever question to ask you ;)

Yep, it’s a similar lick for sure! I’ll explore your suggestion and a future videos Sunday… Finding alternate ways of playing a song. Be well, Stu

I'll take a look at that Sam...thanks, Stu

What kind of practice makes my strumming very fast and clear?
This is a great topic…thanks for the suggestion. I’ll explore this in a future lessons on Mondays!

Also, I'm having an issue with the flick or scrape. I know you did a video on that but I cant do it any faster that slow mo practice speed. Thanks

That's a great tip! Never thought of that. Thanks!
