I'm pretty impressed by the Quality of Massey tractors. The ambulance squad I work for was invited to bring our trucks down to the local elementary school for an event and a guy brought down a (I presume) 1975 Massey 195 and it ran like brand new.
When you restore the deck ,wire brush it down on the underneath to the bare steel, brush fiberglass rosin in it and then paint it ,do both sides of the top and bottom of the deck as well,, It will never rust out ,ever ,,from the high acidity of wet grass,or sand blasting from the mowing blades that sand blast underneath at times ,,I have a old J D 140. When hydros were hydros in 1973. It's looks like showroom ,and I mow with it still in Ga. 3 arcers hobby farm ,,,old ya ,,no snow
My dad bought a 7 new when I was about 10. My uncle rolled it over backwards on top of himself trying to go up too steep a hill when it was brand new. He then had to out do my dad and bought a 10.
A friend bought a used Massey 7 gear drive with a mower deck and single stage snow blower. I rebuilt the blower for him. His neighbor was coming home from out of town and asked him to blow out his driveway. He found a 5 gallon bucket full of ice in a drift. So much for the snow blower.
We owned all Massey-Ferguson tractors on our dairy farm in Ontario Canada, when I was a kid we had this same lawn mower, Dad had me cutting the grass as soon as we got it, I was 7-8 years old then, we're talking 1968-1969. It has a dry sump oil system though, it's not pressurized, and we had some side hills around the house, eventually the engine seized (and I checked the oil level everytime I used it). So, Dad traded it on the 8HP version which did have a pressurized oil system. The 7HP was a Tecumseh motor, the 8HP was a Kohler motor. I remember having alot of trouble pushing on the clutch and brake as my legs were not quite long enough! Did he ever check the oil level??? :)
Cool little toy .... grew up on a ? 1978 MF1200 , thing was a tank 😁 lookin at the smokey my grade 9 auto shop self did a valve job on that tractor lol my only one
As a kid we had about that year was the Massey 10 We worked it hard as a lawn garden tractor Dad sold it after 10 years and it still ran strong Over built but a wok horse
Mike the crankshaft journal it’s probably egg shaped. Hand file and sand it round. Then take the rod cap and file the parting line down so the rod gets smaller. Stop when the rod has no slop. Then maybe it won’t throw a rod.
@@jtsbarnngrill6873: The only safety switch they had in 1970 was you as the operator losing an arm or leg stepping off a running mower and your ole man telling you to stop your catterwallin’ and to walk it off!😂🇨🇦✌🏻

Neat addition to the collection. Those old lawn tractors where great the way they copied the loom of the big ones. I have 1967 round fender 110 JD that reminds me of the 3010. Happy mowing.
I didn't see you check the engine oil but I guess you did and I was wondering why all the smoke and you answered it by saying new piston rings. great buy.

Nice buy! Scored a win with that one JT. Just what I needed to see before I re-instal the starter on the Onan B43 in my MF 1655 garden tractor. At least you didn't have to pull the engine to fix yor machine.....

My uncle used to have a Massey Garden Tractor, his was variable speed, gear drive. I think it was bigger than the 7, but I can’t remember the exact size. This was back in the early 80’s. The hydro is a nice option on that little tractor. Did Massey make those tractors like Deere or did they hire a lawnmower company. What a nice little tractor. Thanks for the Videos. As far as I can research, a company named Dura made these, but it was owned by Massey so I guess it’s still a Massey made tractor in a way? The shop project is ready for cement, but the weather hasn’t been very compatible for that lol
