I have smallish wrists so I’ve been anxious about getting the ultra 2 - I was expecting this video to make the watch look huge but it just looks like a normal watch to me! Thanks for making this content
Just a random stranger’s two cents but think it looks great on your wrist. These things take time to get used to. I remember when I first got the iPhone XS Max. My coworkers were all ribbing me for getting a “giant” phone. Now they all have one and it’s perfectly normal. I just ordered an Ultra even though I have a smallish wrist too. Up to you but you can definitely pull it off.
That's a really good analogy, and the exact same thing happened on my work. They ridiculed me for my android Asus ROG phone 3. But then they upgraded to iPhone Pro Max 13 and got just a big phone.
I normally wear a 41mm series 7 and I have a small wrist. I now have the ultra and I love it! I can read my Messages better and definitely love the added features of backtrack, waypoint etc. it is also much brighter so on a sunny day I have no problems seeing my messages and emails on my ultra watch. 😊

It would look cleaner if you wore the Alpine Strap correctly. You’re wearing it upside down, which causes the strap to push out on the front side of your wrist and gives the appearance of being a bit lopsided.
I ordered the Ultra 2 and I was afraid that it'll look funny(too big) but now I am so happy. I think that it looks great on you. I have a 16 cm wrist. Thank you a lot for this video.
I had the same concerns and still think it looks massive on my wrist but i've asked friends whom have given it to me straight and no one thinks its out of the ordinary.. it's large, but not obnoxious or "ugly".. for comparison I have a 6.8" wrist. Also, any strap that doesn't have an extension will taper more around your wrist - so if you do order the ultra, that would be the ocean band, or any of the 45mm ones that slide directly in and don't project further out and create more of a larger horizontal profile
Great point about band that don’t project out! It’s a big watch but not too bad. I have been wearing my regular watches since and switching back to the ultra feels more natural.
Great video. Much of good fashion depends on confidence and being comfortable in your own skin. Fashion trends are set by people who really don’t “give a damn”, they like it! If you don’t think it looks good, it never will. No one wants to be that guy who dresses badly, but you need to believe it looks good. No BS, think of every well dressed person you know, from street clothes to formal, they all have that confidence and look comfortable in what they’re wearing.
Series 8 or Ultra? 🤔 I realized after filming I put on the Alpine Loop wrong. After, putting it on correctly, it’s actually nice! Also, my neighbors we’re making a lot of noise so I had to stop in the middle and it just threw me off. I really wanted to post the video today so I powered through. 😂
@@JonImperial I also bought the Ultra, but returned it today. The 8 (85mm) fits my wrist so much better and it looks more elegant to me, not as bulky as the Ultra.

If you were doing some heavy marathon or extreme diving I’d say get the ultra…. But to wear each and everyday no matter what the venue, your 41mm looked classy and proper 👍

I like the bump but would prefer say a 47mm. I do sometimes feel the standard is too small for a sports watch. There are a lot of folks out there who say, everyone to their own, wear what you like. But as someone whoes shot commercial product photo's for the last 30 years, The designers of watches always want a model with a wrist that matches how they optimally designed the watch. Of course they have some leeway but a lot of attention is put into the transaction angle from watch case to strap. The classic is Rolex, a lot of trouble is put into the angle of the lugs matching the first links of the strap. So many with small wrists want to own a Skydweler or alike but the truth is it was not designed with that wrist measurement in mind, the look of the watch is suboptimal. Now in my case I can't always read my 44mm without reading glasses and so I would go for the Ultra, but I would not kid myself that it looks terrific on my 170mm wrist.
I Like the thin band with the ultra. Could work for a female. I tried the ultra on today and am considering it despite the size. I think the key to making this watch work is getting the right strap

It's far, far too big for your wrist for certain circumstances, like formal or business occasions (frankly get an old school mechanical watch for those). But for casual or outdoor activities? It really makes a great statement and is very practical.
I thought the Ultra looks better on your wrist than the small, thin, blobby, series 7/8. If classy elegance is really important, then I would suggest a traditional mechanical watch as your dressy/classy watch, as most look much more classy and elegant than a digitial smartwatch - even one as good as a series 8 IMHO.
I have the same size wrist as you and I’m really on the fence about the Apple Watch Ultra. I have a 45mm Stainless Steel Series 7 and initially when I bought it I thought it seemed quite large on my wrist but after wearing it for a few days I got used to it. I tried on an Apple Watch Ultra in store last weekend and my first reaction was its way too big for my wrist. I’m still debating it may end up returning it once it arrives.
I love mine.. used to have the 41mm.. and wear normal watches on the smaller side such as Rolex 36 and 40mm models.. The Ultra honestly is not as large as people make it out to be. Especially with bands that don't have that metal part that sticks out. The original Fluoroelastomer is one, the leather link, the ocean ultra band, etc... makes it look much smaller because the watch then hugs your wrist more
I returned the ultra for the AW8 in graphite. The ultra really hurts with the crown. It cuts into your skin and it really hurts. The AW8 in graphite looks really good and you can get a green alpine band on the graphite and it looks sick.
Thanks for doing this! My female wrist is the same size as yours, so I can tell by your video that the Ultra is too big for me... That’s unfortunate, as the short battery life of the 8 rules it out.
You missed the point. The Ultra being 49mm makes it a bit too big for me. If I want the new style, I have to get that size. I already know the 41/45mm Regular AW works for me.
I was just being facetious. I personally think part of the new style is its big chunkiness and the bump. Without those two attributes then may as well get the series 8. But I actually think the Ultra suits you, don’t think it looks too big on you. 👍

Also i can connect it to my headset and leave my phone in thr truck without losing reception/connection
T-Mobile is much worse trust me I have spent over 3000 hours on phone with them for over 18 months for a phone they told me would get a 800 discount for trading in my old phone but they said they never got it. I sent it back in the day I goth the phone after 18 months of me paying full price for the watch they said they found it but said the offer was no good anymore. I called them the first billing cycle after getting the phone So how could the deal expire so I said then send me back the old phone I returned if you are not going to give me the discount and they said It does not work that way sorry about your luck. Sorry I know this is about the ultra watch but I have to worn people about t mobile they are the worst. Thank you
How do you find the medium size band? I’m thinking of getting the ultra with same band you got but small size strap… i have similar wrist size as yours so if medium is okay with your use maybe i could just get the medium sized band… as for the watch size itself i dont think its too big to be honest on your video hands on, its big but still not ridiculously big, still looks good that I’m thinking of risking getting it…

Am I the only one that actually had physical pain of the watch ultra2, that few gram extra doesn’t seem a lot but my wrist disagree(pressure point on the back of the watch). Love the design though (but why so heavy!!) And I hated the design of the 9 (my life it is like having the same car for 50 years, the same design e-ve-ry year! Wish they had a ultra that weigh less (even we the trial loop it hurts). So ended up returning both, ultra2 to heavy causing pain, the 9 boring as hell! Already hoping for a new apple watch design for a few years now (so annoyed). So stuck with my also boring watch 5. Would love a new design after so many years.

The Ultra is definitely more rugged. We’ll see. The thing is, I was also wearing the milanese band with the 41mm so it might have exaggerated the difference more.

The Ultra is definitely more rugged. We’ll see. The thing is, I was also wearing the milanese band with the 41mm so it might have exaggerated the difference more.
