Ooh tough choice. I would say this.. IF you don't care for the camera of your iPhone, I'd go for the Ultra. Everything about the 14 feels the same as the 12 TO ME. It's a great phone, but from the 12 Pro, I did not feel much of a difference other than the camera. Just my 2 cents.
@@JonImperial that’s awesome input! Thank you. It’s my 1st iPhone and 1st Watch. Got both 6 months ago (phone $200/S7 $429). Using the camera is different from what I was used to but once I got it I loved it
(3:00) People seemed to miss the obvious point of the “U L T R A,” and that it is an adventure watch built for purpose. The smaller version, is the Series 8 that even comes in two smaller sizes. The ULTRA is 49mm so that it is more visible in adverse circumstances, hence the safety orange colour too. The ULTRA’s battery lasts for a few days because the size accommodates the battery that facilitates that capacity. A smaller size compromises that ability, you know because of physics and stuff… Upgrading from a Series3 SS, the difference in cost to the ULTRA was relatively negligible. But after having the watch for a few weeks now I realize, if it were not 49mm, I would not be able to see half the information displayed let alone in a blizzard or at depth in water… It’s simple really, think practicality of function for intended purpose. Plus, ninety percent of the people who will buy the Ultra will literally never put it through its paces. They are also probably the same people that drive 4x4 trucks and SUV’s as commuter vehicles, antithetical to design… 🤔
I don't think people miss the point. That's why almost every review you see people say something like "I'm not the target audience"... I think people like the design and would love a smaller option. Not everyone cares about the spec. The fact is, like you said, a good amount of people would not put it through its paces. So why not make a smaller, non "ultra" version. Like I said, I would happily give up some specs for a smaller watch that looks like the Ultra. Another way to say it is, I would love to get a redesigned Apple Watch Series 9.
@@JonImperial Again, missing the mark. “The smaller version of ULTRA is the Series 8,” pick the Stainless Steel for more durability. Literally the same tech, chip and all. Main features lost are screen size, battery capacity, siren, and action button, none which are crucial for urban life. Chargers and outlets are ubiquitous, and the siren would be drowned out in metropolitan areas… Example: You can buy a Jeep 4X4 (Ultra), or you can buy the same Jeep standard (Series8)… 🤔
@@Superz3ro so you just ignored what I said in the end? 😂 The specs are not the issue. I can tolerate the size.. but others can’t and I know they might feel left out. Having options is always great.. they don’t necessarily need to make a “Smaller Ultra”.. they just need to update the look of the regular watches. I’m talking about design. It’s clear that for the intended audience the size is perfect. No one is contesting that. And based on your analogy, aren't you getting the same design? Different specs? 🤔
@@JonImperial I bought the Ultra out of the desire to upgrade coming from a Series3 SS. The price difference being negligible ($80), since I was going to get another SS. I much preferred the Series 8 form-factor, as it was a slimmer profile from the my previous AppleWatch. However, I chose the Ultra mainly because of battery life, realistically, all the other main features were on the Series8 too. So, besides flat screen and viewing real estate (which was not a real concern of mine), Action button and Siren, are the only things that differentiates the ULTRA from Series 8. Titanium and Ceramic casings are nothing new, they did that on previous models. I was going to try the Ultra for as long as I could and then return it if I did not like it. But I ended up liking it, even though I think the Series 8 looks better and sleaker. As for design. The ULTRA was literally made for a specific purpose, which is why it looks the way it does, and made out of the materials it is. To suddenly just say, lets make it smaller, is not that easy. Hypothetically, they probably have to redesign the crown guard, because it may not necessarily be suitable for a smaller size, thus making the functionality problematic. A smaller size would also mean a smaller battery, that would also make 2000 nit brightness drain power faster making it not practical, So they would have to compromise leaving it at 1000 nits. The smaller size would also not accommodate the extra speakers, or the third microphone, due to space constraints. A better Analogy: The Tesla Model Y (ULTRA) has features and amenities that are not possible in the Model 3 (Series8), due to size constraints. Otherwise, they are basically the same car technology-wise… Also, the 13” MacBook Pro is not a smaller version of the 16” MacBook Pro, it is an entirely different design due to space constraints, or else they would both have the same number of ports… Hence, the smaller version of the Ultra is the Series 8. Maybe they should have offered a version with a titanium or ceramic casing too. 🤔

Great video (titanium!). I didn't buy this one (got the SE 2022), but I definitely appreciate the watch face you are sporting, the red font for night, the advanced fitness features, the titanium casing, the brighter screen, and the heftier glass, which is flat! Yay. If Apple makes it in a smaller size next year, I will definitely get one. It would just dwarf my tiny wrist and I can't imagine being comfortable when sleeping (and sleep tracking is important). Anyway, you hit all the important points and I appreciate that! Glad you like the watch.
I could tell that the first set of RUclips reviews criticizing the Apple Watch Ultra just wanted to be edgy and complain about something. Now that more people have it, we can all see how over-the-top the criticism really was.
@@JonImperial just a clear case and a tempered glass. Just a little extra protection. I am coming from a series 3 cellular model. I usually don’t upgrade anything for 5 to 7 years. But when I do I get the best of whatever is out or wait a year to wait for it.

I enjoy the somewhat different comparison raised but the budget is over for me @$1100 CAD. The flashlight, theater mode exists in all models for years. The red-face nightvision can just dim watch to low light mode. It seemed like placebo affect lifting and rationalization of normal features to prevent buyer's remorse...
Yikes!! $1,100 is a tough sell. I didn’t talk about the theater mode as a new feature. The night mode replaces that for me. Also, the flashlight is brighter. The main selling point for me was the look. Aesthetically speaking, I ended up liking it more than I thought I would.
I’d agree with the tenor of others. If you want jewelry, wear only a Rolex or other expensive watch. They’ll tell great time because of their quality. But they wont answer a phone, or text, or record your exercise or sleep. But they are noticed (by those that wear one themselves, usually) by several people. I wore Rolexes for over 50 years and don’t recall the first person mentioning my high stying. But they were both excellent watches. Then, I ended up with a $16 Casio that gave even better time, showed day of week and date and month. Great watch, but not ‘cool.’
@@feversol So true. Sometimes the simplest watch functions is all one needs. The technology of the phone provides all modern requirements you mention and more, and its always in my possesion, and my automatic, waterproof watch can stay as basic as it comes. Its sufficient to display the approximate time of day, nothing more nothing less.

Chargers and outlets are ubiquitous, and the siren would be drowned out in metropolitan areas…
Example: You can buy a Jeep 4X4 (Ultra), or you can buy the same Jeep standard (Series8)…
🤔
@@Superz3ro so you just ignored what I said in the end? 😂
The specs are not the issue.
Otherwise, they are basically the same car technology-wise… Also, the 13” MacBook Pro is not a smaller version of the 16” MacBook Pro, it is an entirely different design due to space constraints, or else they would both have the same number of ports…
Hence, the smaller version of the Ultra is the Series 8. Maybe they should have offered a version with a titanium or ceramic casing too.
🤔
titanium, great vid man.
Thank you!
i just wished the series 9 will come at a similar battery life tho
That would be sweet! I don't see Apple doing that though.
The watch 9 would be bulkier for the battery size. At that point, it would cost $600. Right about ultra.
@@TerranceNock i think a smaller AWU with similar battery will be worth it even with less features.
Where’d you get that band?
BestBuy! Unfortunately, it's back to $39.99

titanium! Great video! Congrats on 30K!
Thank you!!! 🙏🏾
i always leave my series 6 on Theatre mode, lasts up to 3 - 4 days
That's awesome! I love the always on display too much to do that.
I don’t get it, if you like the smaller size get series 8. for me I love the size, in fact I love it if it’s even bigger. thanks for the video cheers
We all have a preference. I like the look of the Ultra but wish they had a smaller version. I made all the points in the video.
You wish they have a bigger size, I wish they had a smaller size.
It looks absurdly big on your wrist!
( like a matchbox on your wrist) & Doesn't look good. That said if you convinced yourself it looks OK it's fine I suppose
I respect that. But yeah, I'm happy with it! 😁
Can you give me some details on the band please :) love it!

The SE is definitely a great value! 😁
Thanks for watching. 🙏🏾
Titanium, thanks for the video. Still unsure if I will keep the Ultra over my Garmin
Titanium/ love the video
Titanium! I love it so far. Almost 3 days on a charge
That’s awesome!! 👏🏾
Did you have an AW previously?
@@JonImperial I had the very first one years ago.
Fun fact : The Ultra has a 1.92” display and the Series 9 has a 1.9” display. Massive difference 😏
I could tell that the first set of RUclips reviews criticizing the Apple Watch Ultra just wanted to be edgy and complain about something. Now that more people have it, we can all see how over-the-top the criticism really was.
Eh... not really. but if you think that, that's fine. My complaints are still true, it's big and bulky.. but I tolerate it.
I’m really looking forward to getting Apple Watch ultra with yellow ocean band in a few months
That’s exciting man!! 😁
@@JonImperial yeah man definitely 💯
I have ultra for 2 days. I don’t think i
Need to carry the phone any more :) like my ultra
That's awesome! Glad you are enjoying it!
Just got a screen protector and case on it. This watch the last 5-7 years
What case did you get?
@@JonImperial just a clear case and a tempered glass. Just a little extra protection. I am coming from a series 3 cellular model. I usually don’t upgrade anything for 5 to 7 years. But when I do I get the best of whatever is out or wait a year to wait for it.
I love my ultra watch my 3 bands are the $350 apple bracelet Link band and my blue trail loop band $100 and my alpine orange which was free came with it 💪🏻💪🏻
That bracelet link actually is super nice! Maybe one day!
Who cares stupid 😂😂😂😂
@@jesmond5562 I do because here today I'm on my way to buy a hellcat I'm just enjoying myself I suppose

Titanium baby. I’m part of the Ultra crew. Love it.
Let’s go!! Ultra gang! 👌🏾
Thaitanium 🎉
I may look into getting an Apple Watch Ultra in the future if they can bring out a darker titanium version of it.
Also...Titanium!
Thank you! 🙏🏾
Great video, Jon!
Glad you think so! 😁
for me it is little small
Titanium! Great video!
Thank you!! 🙏🏾
This is random but I Love your skin color.
LOL thanks!
Titanium. Good review, and you’ve got a subscriber! 🙏🏾
Much appreciated! 😁
Titanium. And I love the Ultra!
Titanium… I’ve got one Watch Ultra and I’ve never regret buying it. The Watch I was waiting for…
That's great! 👊🏾
I slept with the watch Ultra and knocked my gf out with it at night. Now I’m single.
LOL
It its as elegant as a brick on your wrist. I'll stick to quality traditional watches, they get noticed more.
To each their own! 👌🏾
So...did you actually purchase the watch? As a man...I like the look of this watch. Much less feminine looking than the other Apple watch series.
@@JonImperial I agree its not everyones "cup of tea".
I am the target audience.., and I am just rocking the SE 2.., because I never early adopt. ..no reason to.
I respect that!
If they create a smaller version
Then the 2 day battery becomes a 1 day battery
You ok with that ??
I’m thinking if they make a smaller one it will be a 1.5-2 day battery life. I can get 1 day with my series 7 and 3 days or so with the Ultra.
I love mine
I love my Apple Watch Ultra 😎
😎 ultra gang! 🙌🏾
Hope Apple will release apple watch ultra in 40mm because we, Asians are mostly having small wrists fđ
TITANIUM
I love the ultra but hate the prize
Yes!! Some people think it’s pretty fair though. But of course we all want it cheaper whether it’s fair or not 🤪
I just want all black titanium ultra 😫damn it Apple
1 thing just one ☝️ that’s the only reason I refuse to buy until it happens 😅
I don't know bro. You might be waiting for a while. Hopefully not.
