Mid to late 80s my friends (Hardy brothers) raced factory honda 80s and 125s, they taught me how to complete tear down(and what does what) and rebuild all by myself. Thats a how i leard about bikes. Aint nuthn like those old bikes. Boy ya just ride yur own ride and listen, whatch, and learn . Kudos to ya. Yur doin great
So much for newer technology. Love those Honda 2-strokes. Cool video! Brings back a memory. I had a 79’ CR250R and drag raced an 89’ CR250 4 trax and beat it by quite a bit in roughly a 1/4 mile.
Lets explain. cr80 has more top end cause of sprocket. I guess 46 tooth. and the cr85 has more speed take of cause of an 52 tooth sprocket on the back??? Have a look and let me know. Thanks....
jake ander You're right. I put a 52 tooth sprocket on the back wheel for more take off speed. You'll loose top end but it's better for short courses. O yea it's an 2006 rm 85. Some fun. It's for my two youngest son's. Have a great week and good luck with you're bike. Jon
also, i'm not sure if you've noticed, but in the higher RPM's when you're moving on bikes like the DT360 and the DT250 they still kind of sputter when you either don't give it gas or pull in the clutch, but on sport bikes like the ATC250R of those CR80, 85's it dosn't give itself gas, and kind of spools down. this is kind of hard to understand, so i'll just stop. :P
Charlie seems a nice enough guy; he is just a kid after all. Some people seem to just enjoy ripping into others, spouting their own assumed expert knowledge to show off. Besides, he also wears rubber boots so that makes him pretty cool :)
Wow I had forgotten all about this page. Glad that I came back across it. I wonder why it doesn't show up in my updates when I am subscribed and signed up for alerts. I am going to undo everything and resubscribe.
Its cool to see the difference! The 80 is technically a 82cc and the 85 is a 83.5cc... whats changed is the bore/stroke ratio. I wonder if the 85 has a longer rod as well (stroked, which keeps the revs lower BUT much more torque).
Back en the 90s,When I was young , I had rode all of the 80s dirtbike models. Here's my Expiriences with the kx80. I had the best suspensión for jumps, You can barely feel the landing everytime You peforme a jump. It has a good powerband everytime You Shift the frontwheel comes up in the air. The Rm80 had the same powerband as the Kx80,but the gears where diferent . Rm80 gears where a little longer and had more topend but suspensión wasnt to good. Everytime You peforme a jump You can feel landing like akward too hard. The Yz80 had good suspensión for jumps but the powerband wanst that powerful , You can easy go tru all the gears with one hand on the handlebars, and wont kick You out of control. The Cr80 had the most powerful powerband. You can Shift tru the gears and that front tire was always coming up in the air, and if didnt let off on the gas, your back will hit floor so hard, that You will never get back on that dirtbike again.😉 4 me back in 1995 the best was the Honda Cr80 It had the best suspensión, the topend was increíble. Stock Chain and sprocket it hit84 miles per hours. But later on ,after it was a couple weeks older i change the back sprocket and Chain, I also change the stock expansión and pipe, for an FMF fatty racing expansión and FMF racing pipe, and FMF Jet Pack for cabulator with flappers kit and filters, and that dirtbike transform into real racing sound and performance, it when up form 84 mph to 117mph at topend, the following year was 96 and Kx cameout with the Kx100, my friend got one for his birthday, and we race and Beat him so bad that he sold it and got himself a Kx250 so he can Keep up with me when we rode on the streets. Only the 250 can keep up with me
I remember crashing my Cr 85 into a tree and breaking the clutch, I tried fixing it and thought it was ok until I got up to 4th gear and hell broke loose on that bike and I broke my wrist.
Weird shit.. Came across this video yesterday, thought it was ironic that they mentioned Fon Du Lac, WI which is only about an hour away.. skip forward to today I'm driving my work truck in Beaver Dam and I could have swore I was on this road... Are they from South Central Wisconsin?
I like Charley people are just Jellus because he is riding and they are not keep rideing you get better every time you go out stay safe buddy keep doing what you are doing so all the jellus people can watch you ride wishing they were riding
cr 85 has lower gearing (bigger rear sprocket/ smaller front sprocket or both) meaning better acceleration but less top speed! cr 80 higher gearing less acceleration but better top end. If both bikes were stock with same gearing the 85 would win due to slightly more hp end of!!
I have a 2003 cr 85r and I love it and it rides very good ! I race with my cousins and friends a lot but most of them have 4 strokes. Dirt bikes can be great hobbies !
the 80 is faster bc if it's true about the last owner changing the sprocket then yea that's the reasons the 80 is faster depends on how your sprocket is geared up
Quick question, why did you get rid of the cr80 but not the 85? I know that that 85 is Charlie's personal bike, but does he like that one better than the 80?
I got rid of it like 2 months ago. Charlie really liked the cr80 because it was faster than the cr85. He likes the cr85 better because it has more torque and is newer/cleaner.
+2vintage yup I know you got rid of it 2 months ago and I'm sad that you can do more videos with it! If you come across a cheap cr80 in the future, you know what to do 😉👍
Hey man I never owned a dirt bike before but I plain on getting one what should I get? I want something that's not slow but not the fastest either something like you guys are riding in the video.
I wish i had these calm country roads to bike on! My neighbours complain about our bikes being too loud but they let our other neighbours with 4 strokes rip by all the time lol
+Demonic Darkness Yeah they are a lot cheaper to repair. That's another reason I like them better than 4 strokes. And thanks! Glad you're enjoying the videos!
+2vintage By the way, does Charlie like the cr85 or is he looking to move up (power and/or size)?I was just wondering becuz I'm 5'4 and he looks close to my height and I've been told I should get a 125 before.
85 had more torque which better for a track but the cr80 had more top end which is why it caught up at the end. The 85 had more acceleration which would make it quicker on a track to go around tight corners, and hit jumps quick.
80 won because it had longer gearing. And as you can see, 85 with shorter gearing had much better acceleration.
I like Charlie, I wish i had a little brother who also liked dirtbikes... mine plays 'minecraft' all the time :(
lol I guess he is a pretty cool brother
+2vintage I'm going to buy a rm80 1982 (watercooled) and restore it
+Revvd that's awesome man! those bikes are very fun!
+2vintage Charlie is a pretty good rider too
+Revvd Yeah he is pretty good
I think that Charlie is the best brother to have in terms of getting along and hanging out together
i like charlie y'all need to lay off him
Dude charlie is awsome he would be such a good dirt bike buddy
Faster acceleration on the 85, but the 80 was faster
Yep
Because the 80’s got a lighter piston
Sprocket size
A good 85% of the problem to is the rider, I'f the someone knows how to get the holeshot better and time there shifts then said person will win to..
@@Cedwrecks they switched riders though
Former CR80 owner my god that sound brought me back to when I was 12!
Yes I want to cry every time i hear motox and that deep low end bog sound compared to that high zing!
I just bought a Cr 85 and stored it at my fokes house
quick question, is the CR80 a full size dirt bike or is it a pit bike?
@@notmcsalad303 dirtbike the seat height is 32 inches
Dude Same!! Honda made the best dirtbikes back then.. I miss my Honda CR-80R Two Stroke, SO BAD.. 1 down 5 up!! lol
Charlie is still learning and no one will ever be perfect. I bet most of the hate comments are 10 year olds that think there are so good on a 110.
Exactly
Charlie you did awesome beating big bro!!!! Very proud of you man
Face it modern 85 cc bikes will never beat the old school 80 cc’s
Charlie you got him man so all of you lay off him
Monte Samuels the 1983 was the first year of the liquid cooled bikes and they were FUCKING INSANE
i have a feeling the yz85 could beat any 80 other than maybe ktm because theyre crazy
adric cochran lol yz got smoked when they raced them
+adric cochran ktms blow up to easy
I hope your channel grows I was introduced into bikes from your channel
Thanks! That's awesome!
Mid to late 80s my friends (Hardy brothers) raced factory honda 80s and 125s, they taught me how to complete tear down(and what does what) and rebuild all by myself. Thats a how i leard about bikes. I think Charlie is cool because I was just him when I was young
Nice to see this video from back then - I’m picking up a 2002 cr80 full restored for $2000 Sydney Australia
So much for newer technology. Love those Honda 2-strokes. Cool video! Brings back a memory. I had a 79’ CR250R and drag raced an 89’ CR250 4 trax and beat it by quite a bit in roughly a 1/4 mile.
Keep up the great content dude the subs will start rolling in soon
thanks man! I appreciate it!
More Suzuki RMs pls!!! Tons of Zook fans out here bro. They are bad ass!!
jeez you have gained alot of subs recently, you deserve it though. My favorite youtuber right now!
Lets explain. cr80 has more top end cause of sprocket. I guess 46 tooth. and the cr85 has more speed take of cause of an 52 tooth sprocket on the back??? Have a look and let me know. Thanks....

Smaller sprocket will give u a faster top speed
The 85 will destroy it the guy flips through his gears way to fast if Charlie races the 85 85 would win
CHARLIE IS SAVAGE LEVEL 250 KEEP MAKEING THE GOOD VIDS 🏍
also, i'm not sure if you've noticed, but in the higher RPM's when you're moving on bikes like the DT360 and the DT250 they still kind of sputter when you either don't give it gas or pull in the clutch, but on sport bikes like the ATC250R of those CR80, 85's it dosn't give itself gas, and kind of spools down. this is kind of hard to understand, so i'll just stop. :P
wish I had an 85 right now I have a Honda 50 with an 88 kit in it
I have a suzuki lt230 quadsport
Great vid guys, and leave Charlie alone. For all you haters id like to see how many videos you took and posted for our entertainment!
I want a cr85 so badd! They sound sooo good!
The final drive ratio is modded on the 80...Stock sprockets won't do that.
What sprockets would you recommend for a set up like that? I just bought a 95 cr80r and I want to upgrade the sprockets
Charlie seems a nice enough guy; he is just a kid after all. Some people seem to just enjoy ripping into others, spouting their own assumed expert knowledge to show off. Besides, he also wears rubber boots so that makes him pretty cool :)
Good Video your channels gonna grow big soon
Thanks man!
shifted through the gears way too quick on the 85😂😂
Yes way to fast
lower gearing that's why
Nick Rizzuto yea, and i think charlie got tiny back sprocket, wich means hes cr goes faster but it is lazy at the begin
Nick Rizzuto that bothered me so much 😂😂😂 I cringed but still there good riders
it depends on how much u rev it if u are reving it high u need to shift faster
Wow I had forgotten all about this page. Glad that I came back across it. I wonder why it doesn't show up in my updates when I am subscribed and signed up for alerts. I am going to undo everything and resubscribe.
Charley seems to do the most riding in vids,I give him a thumbs up an 100% for effort.😃
Its cool to see the difference! The 80 is technically a 82cc and the 85 is a 83.5cc... whats changed is the bore/stroke ratio. I wonder if the 85 has a longer rod as well (stroked, which keeps the revs lower BUT much more torque).
Charlie is definitely a better rider👍🏻 a lot better in shifting. Way to go cuz!!

I think Charlie is a better ridder he flips through his gears quicker than you

Jacob Elliott how did u break ur wrist
Well I know how but did u break the clutch leaver for the clutch

do a honda cr 82 vs honda cr 85 ??????
What State do you ride in? The scenery with the bikes is amazing!
Back than, Wisconsin
cr 85 has lower gearing (bigger rear sprocket/ smaller front sprocket or both) meaning better acceleration but less top speed! cr 80 higher gearing less acceleration but better top end. If both bikes were stock with same gearing the 85 would win due to slightly more hp end of!!
William Bond their both stock CR80 wins either way...
what state is this in? looks great
Charlie is a better rider too!!!
Don't be hatin on Charley. He is a dirtbike rider supreme, every young girls dream!!!
I dont like charlie cause... he bit me!
Pixelz lol
Pixelz how do u know him
joe wheelie it's a say
I have a 2003 cr 85r and I love it and it rides very good ! I race with my cousins and friends a lot but most of them have 4 strokes. Dirt bikes can be great hobbies !
I used to own a CR85R 2003 too but I sold it for a yz125 1999. And I'm about to sell my YZ for a 250 2 stroke
Charlie is a fine addition to the vids....hang in there Charlie!!!
you have a beautiful home and live in a lovely place your very fortunate hope you appreciate it.
The 80 must have a smaller rear sprocket.
Like what?
Ill never forget ridin my buddies cr80 back in 01 scared me death lol
If I had a son who likes dirt bikes like Charlie I’d ride 80s and 85s everyday
sprockets are gonna make the top speed faster.
sprockets matched up?
Hey Bud where you get that fuel tank on the cr80 I’m looking to replace my fuel tank
Do u think a 5 foot kid will fit on the 80cc
Brian Jaen yes easy
Were did you find the cr80 why I am asking is I want to buy one
Cool little brother, Charlie seems like a role model kid brother.
I like Charlie cuz he's a bad ass muda, who don't take no shit from NObody
- cool runnings
the 80 is faster bc if it's true about the last owner changing the sprocket then yea that's the reasons the 80 is faster depends on how your sprocket is geared up
I love charlie because he is the best same thing my brother played minecraft all day and he doesn't live dirt bike
Quick question, why did you get rid of the cr80 but not the 85? I know that that 85 is Charlie's personal bike, but does he like that one better than the 80?

+2vintage yup I know you got rid of it 2 months ago and I'm sad that you can do more videos with it! If you come across a cheap cr80 in the future, you know what to do 😉👍
They are both 2 strokes? My 2006 crf80f is a 4 stroke
Top end speed isnt necessarily faster. The 85 is faster out of the hole which counts on a real track and not a country road.
Hey man I never owned a dirt bike before but I plain on getting one what should I get? I want something that's not slow but not the fastest either something like you guys are riding in the video.
How old are you and how much do you weigh and how tall are you ?
Probably a cr80 depending on how tall you are.
Its funny how people were like "f*ck charlie" and now wen he called us out were like "no we love charlie" I stand by my comment on the cr80 speed tes
Compare sprocket sizes. Speed on MX bikes not always important. Technique etc is the thing.
I wish i had these calm country roads to bike on! My neighbours complain about our bikes being too loud but they let our other neighbours with 4 strokes rip by all the time lol
+2vintage its just that we dont have much extra money lying around and my dad says that 2 strokes are cheaper to repair.
+2vintage im really enjoying your videos as well
+Demonic Darkness Yeah they are a lot cheaper to repair. That's another reason I like them better than 4 strokes. And thanks! Glad you're enjoying the videos!
+Demonic Darkness I have the same problem, i ride a 4 stroke but it still is very loud
bro just rev it louder until you cant ear them :)
All kids should experience this
I seen video were they cut expansion pipe open and remove sound deading would that make it faster
Upgraded Reed's and carburetor on the 80?
that CR80 crushed it! Way to go Charlie!
Clearly the 80 is geared higher, it's slower off the line but blows the 85 away on the top end.
What's your difference in weight?
I had a cr-110 but now I have a ktm 250 sxf. Such a good upgrade
Oh yeah I bet it is!
Technically the 85 is a faster bike
Been watching you'll on and off for a minute
Do you have anything for sale. 80>250
In fla
are your guys' sprockets the same size?
i love the intro
Charlie you are a good kid don't listen to them
Charlie's good people in my book wish I had a little brother like that
Charlie is such a coool name🤙
Hi, I want to buy a dirt bike ! Im 1,80 m and around 75 kg but im 15 should i go fo 85cc or 125cc ?
Yassin Dimassi Id say 125 man honestly if your new at dirt bikes 4 strokes are much easier to ride than 2 strokes
If I could get a 2000 cr80 or 2006 cr85 expert which should I get, by the way they're both in good condition.
That's a tough decision but I would probably go with the newer 85. Plus the experts have bigger wheels which is nice.
+2vintage Thanks for the quick response😄
+MOTO yeah no problem. Good luck choosing!
+2vintage By the way, does Charlie like the cr85 or is he looking to move up (power and/or size)?I was just wondering becuz I'm 5'4 and he looks close to my height and I've been told I should get a 125 before.
+MOTO he feels more comfortable on the 85. He probably won't move up for a while.
how much do u want for the cr80 or cr85?
Cr85 track bike. Cr80 beginning dissert runs. Cr80 also has a bigger tank.
85 had more torque which better for a track but the cr80 had more top end which is why it caught up at the end. The 85 had more acceleration which would make it quicker on a track to go around tight corners, and hit jumps quick.
Yep for sure. The 85 is much quicker off the gun.
why would they Blow uP just from 1 race 🙄 I ride mine all day everyday and it stays wide-open
I like Charlie
Nice video 👍
I like Charlie because we have the same name and dirt bike!
Taller top end sprockets. Me and a mate both had 1985 cr80's I had the factory 49 tooth on the back he had a 47tooth, like he had an extra gear.
i got a 07 Cr85 with a trials tire on and it will pop wheelies in 6th gear with out trying to
Brian Hmm sorry but the last year they made them was 07
Chuck is a man now and would whoop some ass haha..
do a race between cr80 vs kx100
Let them hater hate it is because you are better then them
its the gearing/sprockets. My old 1981 cr 80 would destroy your 04 85 too. It might even stomp that 01 80 as well. It is ALL top end.
Bill Bates no it wouldn’t the 01 is the fastest 80cc ever
Yea but my old 1980 cr 80 would smoke yours out the box wasn’t even a race from jump to finish! 🤣
Have Charlie give you lessons. Charlie has the real deal skills
i like charlie the most
CAN U DO HONDA CR 82 VS HONDA CR 85 PLS????
Older kid was riding on the limiter...he will gain experience replacing cylinders and pistons.
