Itaewon (Korean: 이태원, IPA [itʰɛwʌn]) refers to an area surrounding Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It is served by Seoul Subway Line 6 via Itaewon, Noksapyeong and Hanganjin stations. About 22,000 people reside in the district and it is a popular area for residents of Seoul, tourists, expats and U.S. military personnel.
Itaewon is known for serving cuisine that are not widely available in Korea, such as those from India, Pakistan, Turkey, Southeast Asia, Britain, Germany, Italy, France, Portugal, Spain and Mexico. Essentially, it's known as "Western Town," reminiscent of many Chinatowns in Western nations.
Itaewon, along with neighborhoods and attractions like Hongdae, Insadong and Seoul Tower, is one of the most popular places in Seoul for tourists. Major hotels such as the Grand Hyatt Seoul and local landmark Hamilton Hotel are here, as well as several smaller hotels and guesthouses. Dozens of shops are aimed at tourists, and offer Western or traditional Korean souvenirs. High-quality leather products, retail or custom made, and are sold at reasonable prices (though haggling is expected) as well.
Itaewon was long known as a hub for high quality counterfeit goods, but those products have largely disappeared. Some authentic goods that are only produced in Korea for the international market, as well as some authentic imports are also available. Itaewon is known for its clothes makers who produce custom-made shirts and suits.
Aside from the local businesses, there is a rich community of international business owners, including a pie shop owner from the U.S.A. (Tartine), authentic American and Canadian burgers, a wine bar, an Austrian delicatessen (with an array of cheeses and meats), a veterinarian/pet groomer with an excellent reputation, a chiropractor from Oregon, doctors and nurses, pharmacists and grocery shop owners.

Ask yourself if you have seen kids walking around at night in your area. You may wanna check what time it must be. It is extremely safe at night in South Korea, and you see many people and open stores at night. I guess it may be around 9:00-11:00 pm. Do you usually see many kids walking around at this time?
This area is known for clubbing and such so it would be weird if there are kids and also is night time so even more obvious why...

I was stationed in S. Korea back in 2000. It brought a smile to my face to see Polly's Kettle House at 24:42. Many soju nights were spent there. I see the hill is just as seedy as it was back then.

Stayed in Itaewon for three weeks last december. Definitely miss walking home with a view of Namsan tower every night. Itaewon and Hongdae are my fave places to stay in Seoul ❤️

I will always remember little places I have been to, the clubs, shops, people and the things I experienced in those places. At the beginning of the video, there is a LUSH shop. My first thought was, "Ah yes, I got a free facial in the middle of the hottest summer I had experienced". Korea always does this to me.

This really reminds me of myself in 2015 when I worked at a bar in Itaewon. Itaewon is like a gem in Korea, which is quite disciplined or conservative because there are so many free-minded ppl and foreigners closely so that I could feel like a normal person even with my maximum decoration. This is like being in a flood of diversity that made me free as one of them as well as myself. Literally the word "Chill" we can't see easily in Korea comes to you. I really miss there and the time at Itaewon especially in this Covid-19 era. Still longing for being free as staying one of them there .. :(

honestly it's not like i go out often. i'm like pretty introverted and i love being home and just sleeping with my curtains drawn and i hate going outside in general but amidst covid19 and while im watching such videos, it really makes me miss the feeling of going out whenever i wanted with my friends and have fun.

Interesting, when I lived in seoul in the late 90's, itaewon was a sleazy tourist trap filled with fake stuff, foreigners and American soldiers, the clubs and bars were filled with girls looking for an American to take them to America . It has gotten a lot nicer.
