I loved working here. I'm sorry to hear that it is closed down. This was a such beautiful resort.

Same thing happened to the Chateau Louise in West Dundee, also in the Fox Valley. And the Chateau Louise also had this kind of pool. It was also a resort buoy from a barn. It was wonderful.

I remember that awesome pool. I loved all the vintage stonework on the inside portion.

Went here when i was a wee young lad. That half-inside-half-outside pool fascinated me as a kid. That place was huge and was rhe biggest hotel I'd stayed at back then. Made some good memories there. I'll miss it for sure.

Sounds like a good time. I wish I would have known about it. I'm from South West side of Chicago.

Three years ago, I've been there while I was at South Elgin Transition program, now it's abandoned and charred-up.

I used to sneak in there for a swim when I was a teenager. Beautiful inside. Sad it's gone.

I went to a theatrical show there back in 2015. And up till 2020 I use to pick people up and drop them off there when i did uber.
I remember them holding a huge fighting game convention with many tornaments that people from around the world showed up for and I beleive the events were televised. I think this was summer of of 2018 or 19. But to hear thay it's been closed and abandoned. Thats pretty sad as I remember it always being busy.

I remember watching the cloud of smoke while it burned from my house. It’s almost all gone now with several warehouses on the property being built.

Great video ! The Illinois Association of Mortgage Brokers held an annual event there every fall and it was a lot of fun. Shocked that another big hotel chain didn't step in to buy it.

Thank you! It’s surprising, especially since a few chains were showing interest in buying it
