I have bought the KATM calendars for the last 2 years and liked most of the labels and really enjoyed the opening experience. This year she has brought out bon bon boxes. I would not bother with Prym and Hemline as I already have the tools I need/want. I have pre-purchased the Australian company Dahliasewciety 12 days of Christmas box. I thought I'd have fewer items but better quality. I thiink it's 'cheeky' not to be clear that a box was released last year.

Like @dawn2982 I’ve just received my Beyond The Pink Door (Ireland) calendar for 2023, I also had the 2022 calendar which was amazing. This year BTPD have a 12 days of Christmas one focussing on small independent makers as the gifts, but I believe it is to still cover the full month. They’ve changed things up to keep it fresh.
In Australia (where I am) I also have The Dahlia Sewciety 12 days advent calendar too. Again I believe they have changed things up from last year also (last years was also brilliant)
Australia also have other companies that have Christmas boxes advents and just gift boxes available. Sew to Grow, Wattle Hill, Cloth Edit and more.
In the UK Pattern Pouch Nest also offer a sewing advent. Merry Christmas!

Great video was really good review. I got the fabric godmother box last year I liked it but i was not totally blown away considering the price point. It also had a voucher that had 3 months that I didn’t use in time. I totally agree that there should be clarity around what you purchase and the last year calendars should state this.

@@SewinginSwitzerland I will. I've not had one before but I've seen unboxings for the last 2 years and Andrea puts a lot of effort into curating them. I'd love to see the fabric godmother unboxing x

Hi Sam, Yes, I would love to see an unboxing of your Fabric Godmother advent calender. Yes, seeing some etsy sewing advent calenders would be lovely BUT... see the but..... as you do not have enough subscribers and watch hours yet to be monetized I am very hesitant to vote for this due to the cost to you with no return for RUclips. As for the Pymm and the Hemline advent calenders, firstly I did not know they existed, but more to the point, if someone is purchasing it for a sewing friend, they may not even recognise the design from one year to another and may therefore inadvertantly give them the same gift 2 years in a row. I do think it is a bit rich on their behalf to sneak old stock through as current.

Thanks for your review. I really agree that calendars from the previous year should be discounted. Seriously, it's just what we expect as consumers, and it's a risk the larger companies take when selling these. In addition, I also expect that the combined value of the items in the advent calendar should be less if you buy the calendar as opposed to buying them individually. That's a big draw for me when buying something like that, because as you point out, a lot of these things I either already own or would buy in a color I need if I were to buy it. I did get a lingerie findings advent calendar one year from a UK company and it was exciting to open each little baggie to see what was in them, and the findings were coordinated with elastics and lace so you know they didn't just chuck a bunch of unsold stuff in the calendar to get rid of it. Having said that, generally I don't need all the stuff in the calendars, so unless it's bigger ticket items or maybe things related to one project, I end up feeling that it's a bit of a waste in the end, and there is too much waste already to deal with around Christmas time.

I remember being so jealous of the katm and fabric godmother calendars last year! It seems like Europe has so many more cool sewing gifts and stores than we have here in the US. But I shouldn't complain, because I'm in minnesota and we have SR Harris which is a huge half price fabric store. They have barrels of loose buttons, and I ran into a woman who was sure that the buttons in the bottom of the barrels had been there since she had pawed through them as a child. I would be curious to see what etsy has. And I agree, they should tell you if they are selling last year's. What if you get the same calendar for them year after year? If it is a really creative calendar like katms, they would know they had gotten the exact same calendar last year. Happy Halloween!
