I have this in Sydney last February and drove 9000 km averaging fuel consumption of 1.9L/100km. Using 80% in EV in mostly urban drive from work to home. Ten times I went to long drive more than 400km each drive. My drive experience is excellent and I love this car.
Hi mate Thinking about getting this car...do you think I will be able to save money...I drive about 45-50 km every day for work...on average I spend about 50$ each week on petrol...thanks
Just tested on my own 2024 PHEV. All I did was filled up the tank when the battery was dead, and I didn't charge it for the whole tank. Just going abouts my daily routine, which is probably about 50/50 city highway, I got about 8.1L/100km. The best? No, but still very happy with car (can't live life based on numbers alone!) As I do believe in going electric, I'd probably get a full EV next time round.
Interesting review. Of course, plugging in the car will obviously improve the "fuel economy". The point of the test was to see what the economy would be for those that chose not to plug in (road tripping would be an example). Our Outlander 2023 PHEV has averaged around 1-1.5 litres/100 k in the city during summer (plugged in) and closer to 7 - 8.5 litres/100 on the highway, depending on how hard you drive (9 l/100 115+ kph). The Toyota PHEV Hybrid's definitely achieve better highway economy (infinite gear ratio transmission) but they can be a bit obnoxious sounding under heavy throttle. The Outlander has a very smooth electric car feeling as you drive. I think both are great choices.
I also saw the rav4 prime test ... This car can get 6.8 l/100. Rav4 prime can get 5.5l. Both are pretty good numbers. But a rav4 will cost $10k more because of dealer markup. So, Outlander costs 1.3L more per 100km in fuel, or 22 cents per km . In Toronto dollars, $2.16 more per 100km. If you paid$10000 for your rav4, it would take you 450,000km to break even
So does this mean that it becomes more fuel efficient when the battery is completely depleted? Because on the other test, the outlander phev gets 26- 28mpg. Also when you did your road trip, what was your average speed?
It is much easy to do the test like this : Drive 100 km with a full tank of gas and then fill the tank again, see how many liters you spent for that 100 km.

My elantra gas gives me the same Kmpl what's the point of an expensive PHEV. In hybrids toyota is miles ahead of the competition with superior efficiency.
A majority of buyers will use this primarily as an EV that can do 60+ kilometers. But it's good to know that on long road trips when the battery runs out, it gets the same fuel economy as your Elantra - despite its size.
It's still impressive, this weighs almost 5,000lbs and has a 3rd row and gets the same fuel economy as a 4 door 5 seater sedan that weighs significantly less.
My current fuel economy is at 1.5L/100km @ 1800 KM overall drive with half tank .. Even on hybird similar test I got 900+KM range around 5.6L/100KM it all depends on how you drive. remember even Toyota Hybrid cant help if you do a heavy foot driving and agreed Mitsubishi may not be as efficient as Toyota but not that great gap as you are thinking in reality ! Interiors and luxury cant be compensated with Toyota interiors just test drive you will know about it.
You did not the hang of this test at all. This vehicle is way bigger than that Sassy Korean but its MPG is almost the same.Use charging and Outlander will do 3L/100.
This vehicle is supposed to get better in hybrid mode, you either run it on ev mode or hybrid, running purely on gas is the worst it can get... it is supposedly better in hybrid but having real world data to compare would have been better

This is the best, most comprehensive Fuel Economy review for a car that I've seen so far on the internet.

This is the Best Test for real fuel range i have seen Well done

This was exactly what I wanted to know - thanks!
Can you do a test for the regular model? The 2×4 model?

Thank you soo much for doing this
Can you do the same test but on charge mode. Does it chew through more fuel and does extend the range
When talking about gallons in Canada do you mean US or Imperial?

PERFECT!!!!
Also how much did you use your heater and aircon during this test? How much does it affect if u use it.
$93 to fill up? How can you all survive in Canada? I seen your food prices too…it’s insane over there
Well, they don't pay for health care

Does the 2024 still use the Chademo charger?
Yes

what mode did you do the test in ? ECO or normal?

Agreed. Great video, why use the computer voice??
This is meaningless this is not the intent of how this is supposed to work what a waste of a video
