  • It's rare that you find a Euro2 Trident knocking about these days - but hidden in deepest Lincolnshire, at the Black Cat open day, was this survivor. Normally found on private hire work, the open day provided an opportunity to ride on and record this thing, and it's in excellent shape for its age, too. Enjoy!
    Open road after 5:15.
    This bus was serving the shuttle from Lincoln Station to Harmston depot.

    Great catch, loving the thrash! It’s doing well for a 20 year old bus that seems to gradually be getting more tired by the day, it’s probably been through a lot especially in London. Still, we should appreciate any that’s not completely fucked given how rare they are approaching 2022
    Thank you for documenting a bus we otherwise wouldn’t see on RUclips. If you want some more Euro 2 Voith Trident fix, I recommend going to Gloucester and doing the Swanbrook Coaches service 354 to Hartpury College between 10am and 2pm. Theirs are ex Yellow Buses T reg Lolynes alongside LW51 reg ex Dublin AVs, they’re used daily during the week at term time and it’s open door! It also runs half term, evenings and weekends but uses Solos instead

      I've heard good things about those Yellow Buses Lolynes actually, noted. Only issue is if the X-NNO turns up, cause some things are best left in the past and that batch is one of those lol

      @@gloriouswater538 354 seems to be mainly a Lolyne and an AV when it is deckers but I can’t guarantee that’s always the case. If that plan somehow fails, then you could see if the local Stagecoach Tridents from Gloucester or Stroud give you any luck 🤷🏻‍♂️

    The Y-NHK was a strange batch of Tridents as some were ZF and some were Voith. I wonder if the ZF ones were non Stagecoach spec.

    • @gloriouswater538
      @gloriouswater538  2 года назад +2

      They all looked normal Stagecoach spec to me. Very weird batch, there were 5 different variants within the Y/51reg batch, Euro2/3 Voiths, Euro2 4/5spd ZF, and Euro3 5spd ZFs as well. I think Manchester got ZF Tridents too.

    A local bus operator near me has Y448/9NHK. They're not too bad but going up and down the A1 everyday on schools is slowly killing them as they're flat out at 50mph.

    This one appears to be ex-Romford, at least at one point, so there's a not too bad chance I have actually been on this bus on the 247 many years ago. Shame that none of these are in London anymore and an even bigger shame that they're going extinct. All the ex-London ones are dying in second-hand services and Stagecoach seem to be getting rid of the last of theirs elsewhere too. Luckily though Nu-venture apparently have a few 55 reg ex-London units (as well as an old Metroline one) and they send them down my way from time to time, so I might get to experience these generation-defining buses a few more times before they're all gone.
    On another note, this one's in excellent nick for its age. I've heard Enviro 200s in worse wear, and the remaining darts of this age are all rotting corpses by now. Do you know if any of the pre-rebranding tridents are still around, the ones that have red handlebars and the grey seat covers?

    • @gloriouswater538
      @gloriouswater538  2 года назад

      Yeah, this one would have been new to Romford back then. To answer your question - I know that Fords of Althorne have a couple of old interior Tridents from the T-KPU batch, that run on Chelmsford shopper buses mainly. I've had their T90BUS which is ex 17094 - that one's also in excellent nick for its age!
      Also, NV don't have the Metroline ones anymore, they've had an ex Abellio E400 replace their last one. The ex Stagecoach ones are still knocking about though.

      @@gloriouswater538 That's good news then. I know those ones have been out of London for a long while now, coming up to 10 years I think since they (and this one as well if memory serves, all up to 51 were withdrawn at that point) were withdrawn, presumably because being Euro II they no longer met London's emissions quotas. I unfortunately never got to experience the oldest tridents; Romford and Barking only had the X reg ones, maybe V reg as well? The ones with the new-style seats but still the grey interior and red handlebars. I don't know if V reg had the redesigned separate seats or the old bench-style seats. If a few T reg tridents have survived, surely some V and X reg have as well.
      Oh, that's a shame about the ex-Met ones. You're making me feel old reminding me that London is withdrawing the oldest E400s now. At least the ex-Stagecoaches should stay around for a while. They're only 55 reg, they can't be that knackered yet. Saying that they are 16-17 years old now.
      On another note, one of my other local routes back in London was the 150. When it gets let out for tender again in '24 and its E400s get withdrawn, we could really use some of them down here. We've still got the GN04 ALX400s and ex-North London Geminis running our routes that are really starting to fall apart now. I'd say the GN04 bunch are in worse condition than the ex-London Geminis. Some of them are sounding really knackered now and a few have fucked transmission and exhausts. We did get some ex-London E400s a couple years ago, all 07-58 reg new to Arriva Southend at the time, those ones used to work the 370 and 66, not really local routes to me but I saw them enough and I have been on them. Unfortunately those are ageing really badly and falling apart too. So yeah, when the time comes for their withdrawal we could really do with some 09-60 reg Arriva E400s. They're very reliable buses those facelifted E400s, they don't seem to have aged a day since their first run.

    • @gloriouswater538
      @gloriouswater538  2 года назад

      There are definitely some V-MEVs still knocking about that I've seen, but I'm not sure how you can actually get on one. I know Black Cat Travel have one, but they do schools and private hire so there doesn't seem an easy way to get on it... You are correct, those ones came with the newer Lazzerini seats and the old interior. Romford and Barking both had a lot of them, among other garages, being that this was one of those batches that ends up absolutely everywhere!
      I hear that NV plan to get rid of 18476 (no loss there) and have two more Abellio E400s on the way. To be honest, though... some of the NV Tridents are well past it, you'll have better luck elsewhere!
