    Saving seeds just gives you more time in the garden. I planted Marigolds this year and out of 30 plants I have pounds of seeds that I am saving. I have chive seeds from one plant that I have been growing for two years. As you follow you journey as a gardener, you find yourself more interested in how these plants grow. You start propagating more plants, starting more seeds, starting new plants, giving more food to neighbors. This is the start to a long love affair with your garden. The dirt, the way food is grown, and a life style many dream about. So keep saving seeds, planting new plants, and making your little piece of heaven beautiful. - Jeff

    So happy to gave found your channel. Someone who loves to plant like me. I don't know where the feeling comes from except from deel within me that I have to plant every spring. I guess I was born that way. My family has finally understood me when they had potatoes, peppers and onions cooked from the garden. It made me so happy. Do you ever share your seeds with viewers? Thank you for all the knowledge you have shared. It has been very appreciated.....Michelle

    Hey Jess, you should think about cutting beans off at the ground and leave the roots in the soil for the winter, if possible. They will continue to pump nitrogen into the soil! 🥰

  • @FubarKen
    @FubarKen 5 лет назад

    I let all of my beans dry on the plant at the end of the season and pick them for winter beans. Already dried so no processing, just shell them and put in a mason jar on the counter. Pink eyed purple hulls and speckled butter beans are my favorite to do this way.

Loved your comment on the man’s reason to have a drone; I’ve got 2 such men in my life and they love ‘playing’.....I mean ‘flying’ their drones. Also I feel the same way about seeds. I have saved hundreds of cow pea seeds yet I only need around 10 to act as a good ground over around my fruit trees here in the desert of AZ😊.

    Goldfinches love sunflower seeds. The birds are pretty and I leave them a few flowers. Why don't you cut the beans at ground level so those nitrogen nodules on the roots feed your plants next year? When Mother Nature throws a late spring frost or snow at you, you need more seeds and if you've been hoarding seeds you then have enough and enough to share :)

    I literally just had the "seeds spilling out of the pocket" thing happen to me yesterday in the store. Yesterday morning I was collecting seeds in the garden and ran out of bottles, so I started putting them in my apron pockets. Then I ran out of apron pockets and ended up shoving a last bit in my jeans pocket (a few handfuls of dill seeds). I totally forgot about them and went to pick up one of my daughter's boyfriends for Sunday family day. We stopped at the store to pick up a few last minute things for dinner and when I went to get exact change out of my pocket seeds flew everywhere! Everyone in line laghed, and one lady reached into HER pocket and pulled out a handful of seeds to show around. Farming communities... it's a thing. LOL

    This season definitely went by too quickly. We had snow in the middle of June here in SE Wyoming. I had to replant stuff several times. I dang near lost all of tomatoes. But I nursed them back to life. I finally have tomatoes coming on. But wouldn't you know? The nights are starting to cool off. So I'm going to cut a branch off of each one, and bring them inside. I grew tomatoes indoors a couple of winters ago, so I'm going to try it again.

    Always love watching you Jessica I feel as though we are on a first name basis and I always look forward to seeing what is happening on the homestead. I'm just starting my youtube journey myself and I'm gonna make a video soon about my apartment garden.

    Sad for your garden but you have hope for the Fall garden, then you mentioned winter. Bad word but planing and starting seeds is great hope for the next year. the excitement of watching them sprout. God Bless. nice Drone footage. Tell Jeremiah it is better to land them on the ground instead of trees, LOL.
