JR, you got it right. Hyundai nailed this car. We bought one. Took it on a 3,000 mile road trip for summer vacation. Loved it so much, when we got home we bought a second one. Love your channel too. BTW, the comments others have made about the tail lights not being visible is ridiculous. In order to not see them, the trailing car needs to be within about 4 feet of the Santa Fe. No one should be driving that close to you and if they are, they are hitting you whether or not they see your brake lights.
I have a 2022 Sante fe and got it brand new . Lots of road-trips from NC to Florida even to Missouri . No problems! Now Two kids later looking to upgrade this is very affordable from other 7 seaters. Nice video lots of details.

Called the Hyundai road service number on the drivers side window & they picked up the car 45 minutes later & took it to the closest Hyundai Dealer, Frysinger Hyundai, in Mechanicsburg, Pa. Hyundai furnished us a rental car from Enterprise to drive back home to Indiana. Frysinger updated us regularly & installed the new engine. Hyundai made arrangements to ship our car to the dealer we got it from. We picked it up & turned the rental car back to Enterprise in our town. I bought this exact car 2 months ago, exact interior and exterior color in Calligraphy model of the Santa Fe. Incredible number of luxury options for incredible price. Drives and rides beautifully. By the way, the “H” stands for the Hyundai salesperson shaking hands with the new purchaser of a Hyundai. The climate screen is barely visible on a very sunny day which makes it difficult to turn ac on/adjust fan speed on a hot day. A problem in the design aspect.
I can't believe all the negative comments... I've been driving Hyundai in various forms since 2006 and have never had an issue with one of them. I've had 2 Sonata's and 3 Elantra's in that time. After waiting 15 months for a Toyota (the dealership looked ahead today and they can see no allotment for the next three months), I went to a local Hyundai dealership and ordered a Calligraphy. Wish we could get Hybrid Calligraphy's in Canada but they are not available. I take very good care of my vehicles, so it will get plenty of attention and hopefully the bad things that Hyundai's have been known for (connecting rods through the block) won't happen.

@@ingresswizard9044 At least their engines and trans won't explode. You'll have plenty of time to play with your innovations and features while waiting for a tow.
that's probably because most people who buy them are po and they aren't smart enough to change the oil more often than hyundai says to , they probably change it in longer intervals

@@nemesis656 anything is possible but with my warranty I can chance it and I’ve seen the changes they made to better their drivetrain over the last years because of my dealings with several automotive companies.
Wait, the hood struts were perfect!😂 This also reminds me of my 13 Ford Flex which was completely trouble free outside regular maintenance. Still sometimes regret trading it.
I wanted a matte brass calligraphy Santa Fe, but I just couldn't get over the rear. I loved the interior design and the way it drove, but the rear just looked unfinished to me. I bought the AWD 24 Kona Limited instead. It was the best bang for the buck once I decided to go with a Hyundai.
I'd be worried about the high failure rate of their engines and transmissions. They don't give much warning when they give out either, so it can be a safety issue.
I can see those active shutters breaking in cold climates... Either snapping the tabs when frozen over or burning out the motors, especially since they open on a start up sequence when the car is usually cold and frozen over
I agree with the H comment...Hyundai should definitely draw up something new & refreshing that reflects the design they're aiming for in a lot of their models. So I am planning on checking this out soon, but I can't help but the notice the many complaints about the drivetrain going bad, etc...
I thought BOSE stood for Buy Other Sound Equipment? Its funny how 9/10 people think they are top end speakers, but in a car audio environment, probably doesnt make much difference.
Watch that air filter door. The dealer will slam that thing shut and break the hinges off of it in two seconds. I had to argue with them to replace mine. I’ve honestly had the worst ownership experience with the Sonata that I have. I legit want my Accord back. I’ve had two Hyundai. My first one was great. This one was CPO and I don’t think I’ll ever buy another one.
At first I couldn't place the look of the rear, but it was somehow familiar. Then it came to me... It looks kind of like the old Volkswagen Vanagon from the 1980's.
The fans turning on when you unlock/approach the car is often done to help clear stagnant new car smell from the car. That's how volvo does it at least, and as the car gets some miles on it it'll do it less and less. No idea if this is what they do on this car though.
Would love to see an updated review from you on the Tesla FSD (supervised) and comparison to Hyundai’s stack. I know that’s not generally your thing but your perspective would be interesting. The DASD features in general keep leapfrogging and we live in different times than just a year ago.

I can see those active shutters breaking in cold climates... Either snapping the tabs when frozen over or burning out the motors, especially since they open on a start up sequence when the car is usually cold and frozen over
You just need to de badge the car for your sister. Add some Ranger Rover badging
And then just get her something better.
After you push the button and access the back seat, can you push the button and it returns to the original position?
Is this the wife of that guy Eric who has a different work truck for each day of the week?
I believe so and there is no denying who her father is either.
I agree with the H comment...Hyundai should definitely draw up something new & refreshing that reflects the design they're aiming for in a lot of their models. So I am planning on checking this out soon, but I can't help but the notice the many complaints about the drivetrain going bad, etc...
Looking after family, well done.
Not really
IMHO it is not a good idea to use cruise control or self driving in the rain. Does the car analyze the weather conditions ?
I think in most cars with sunroofs...if you open it using the switch, it opens the cover automatically.
Yes but in the nicer ones the cover is fully power 💯
The old "No Highs, No Lows, it must be Bose". LOL!
Better sound through marketing!
@@LuvADuc Yep. Both these "slogans" are perfect when it comes to Bose.
Same issue with the filter housing hinge
The Hyundai badge represents two people shaking hands
I bought one same color awd. Last Monday
At first I couldn't place the look of the rear, but it was somehow familiar. Then it came to me... It looks kind of like the old Volkswagen Vanagon from the 1980's.
Wish we could spec in Europe that colors. Love that green with white interior 😍
The fans turning on when you unlock/approach the car is often done to help clear stagnant new car smell from the car. That's how volvo does it at least, and as the car gets some miles on it it'll do it less and less. No idea if this is what they do on this car though.
The Outback has had a hands-free liftgate since 2020... and has had the 'hidden' cargo cover since at least 2010
and while priced very low for the 2024 and manufactured in Japan, has awful reliability feedback
@@Ascension_3030 the outback? It's built in Indiana. Before dissing something you might want to check your facts.
Would love to see an updated review from you on the Tesla FSD (supervised) and comparison to Hyundai’s stack. I know that’s not generally your thing but your perspective would be interesting. The DASD features in general keep leapfrogging and we live in different times than just a year ago.
Absolutely 💯
No kids, but we have a tiny chihuahua that goes everywhere with us. We traded in a 2020 Honda CRV Touring Hybrid for our new 2024 Silver SF Hybrid Calligraphy. Your sister not liking it for the "H" symbols seems shallow.
Seems like a great deal for the money. Unfortunately, with 5 kids, this is just too small for me. My only options are the Suburban or the Expedition Max, which we have two of.
This has 3 rows and seats 7. They also make a long wheel base version which has more room
You ever see how much stuff a wife and 5 kids pack for a road trip? I really need a bus.
Holy cow, what a great review. Never thought I wanted a Hyundai. You are making the markups go even crazier JR. I think Hyundai understands the the MSRP game and probably encourages the dealership to markup their enticing affordable prices (you can never get them at their msrp).
Have they addressed the ‘easy to steal’ FEATURE or does it not apply to this one?
I believe that only affects the Hyundais with ignitions that use actual keys.
@brian5o ? The easy to steal models are the keyless models!!!!
If we put XRT wheels on this Calligraphy, will it give that extra 1" ground clearance as in XRT model?
I got the 2023 Santa Fe calligraphy and I love it
same , i bought it for my wife last spring and it's been great so far .... one oil change is all it's had done (for free of course) i also paid a little extra for the 10yr /100k bumper to bumper warranty
@@Mouthy_Trucker how much did you pay for the bumper to bumper warranty?
@@Mouthy_TruckerHow much was the warranty? 🙌
@@Mouthy_Truckerhello?
@@youwebz i don't really remember but i had to play hard to get , i told them no the first two times they offered it to me for a price, so then they came back the third time and i wanna say it added $17 a month to the payment so it would be less than $1500
On read yes. Off road, not really. Unless you're outside US, and get AWD version that have modes for off road.
