Doll Therapy for Dementia and Alzheimer’s: “Reborn Baby" Bella has arrived !!

- My wife, Theresa, was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease back in 2018. Theresa was 49 years old at the time of her diagnosis. Theresa talks of babies frequently and has a delusion of pregnancy. Theresa's best friend, Cher, makes a visit to our home today and presented Theresa with "Baby Bella" a lifelike "Reborn Baby Doll" Theresa is overjoyed with Baby Bella and I hope that it would provide her with comfort and a sense of purpose.
Update - Theresa passed away from this disease on March 3rd, 2024 at the age of 55. This channel will remain up in remembrance of her and to educate others about Alzheimer's Disease.

I love seeing this again. The morning was more than I could’ve expected. Theresa’s excitement and instant love for Bella was so wonderful to witness. I’m so very blessed to have been a part of this special moment. ❤️🙏🏻🤗

My father had dementia brought on by a stroke so it wasn’t Alzheimers. Many of his friends stopped calling…it was devastating.
I think your Dad's experience is typical. Sad but true.

this actually made me cry...in a good way. unexpected tears. the level in which you love Theresa and care for her and go to lengths to see her happy is incredibly heart warming. A love like that is hard to find. this is so sweet. it is great to see her smile like this! Wow!
My grandma used to talk about how good her baby was. She said he never cried. We actually buried her with her baby. It seemed fitting.😊

I used to care for a woman and she had a "baby" also which became a special part of her life. I enjoyed seeing that big smile on Theresa's face and your love for her is so obvious. She's lucky to have you. I continue to have Hospice in the home for my husband and he continues to decline but we did have a "bright spot" the other day when he responded back "I love you too". Cherishing each and every day and know you do also. Blessings and Prayers.

I could not watch all of this but it was so nice to see Theresa so excited. I bought my Mother a reborn doll and she cared for that doll like it was a real baby. It made a huge difference. It gave her both a sense of purpose and a sense of security. With her, she always thought there were small babies around who needed to be cared for and she was always looking for them. The doll definitely helped.
This made me cry. This is great therapy for Theresa and she loves her at first sight!!!❤
For the 21 years that I did memory care baby therapy was by far the most calming and loving therapy there was. We had several babies and the calming effect when a bad day of anxiety was happening was so touching. This is a wonderful thing.

I collect reborn dolls. Yesterday I was admitted to hospice and this video just affirmed the idea I had to donate my "babies" to a memory care dementia center near me while I am still able. This touched my heart and I am so saddened by Theresa's passing.
God bless you on your journey. I told my mom when she was in hospice if she ever got scared to call out to Jesus. I pray you have family who can be by your side.🙏

Her diagnoses 5 years ago was unbelievable at minimum. She just seemed so much “herself”. It wasn’t until I’d spend more and more time with her that I was able to recognize her changes. Now the changes are much more obvious and the progression is more rapid.
Theresa has a part of my soul that will never belong to anyone else. She and I have always had an incredible bond and the time spent with her now only strengthens my endless love for her.
The truth is, no matter how much this disease has taken from her, her heart has remained unchanged. Her laugh is still one of the most joyful sounds to my ears, and the love that she exudes is infinitely warm. 🙏🏻🤗❤️

I've always thought the reborn baby dolls would be great therapy for women in Nursing homes. They look and feel so real. To me, as a woman, there is nothing sweeter than holding a baby and feeling responsible for that baby.
I think more people need to bring their young children into nursing homes. Some of these old folks never get to see youngsters. I worked as a nurse in one for 3 years. Oh how they lit up big smiles seeing little ones and puppies and kitties. Any babies. 😊
My late mother finally got her “baby” in a memory care unit. It was shocking to me how much that baby soothed her. There were more stuffed animals, which many of the residents loved, but it was the baby doll that did it for my mom.
Oh the smile on Theresa's face and the twinkle in her eye are a joy to see. The joy on your face when Theresa is happy is priceless. Blessings to you both.
Cher is another person who has been dealing with Theresa’s diagnosis. She has been, sadly, losing her best friend. My heart goes out to her. It’s so sweet to see that Trey and Cher have each other to lean on and to support each other especially with Theresa’s recent aggression toward both her husband and best friend. As always, praying for everyone who has been dealing with someone they love who was diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer’s. 🙏🏻
As a mom of a heavily disabled boy i am terrified of the thought of getting alzheimers and forgetting him or our memories as he needs me here as long as possible. Memories are so precious. This moment meeting bella its so innocent and beautiful i love it❤

My mom went into the dementia unit back in about 2009 or 10. I asked them what could I get her for Christmas because I was at a loss. The nursing staff told me a baby doll. So I bought the baby doll and I crocheted a blanket for the doll. That doll and blanket became everybody’s baby at the dementia unit. Some other lady claimed it was her baby, my mother claimed she had crocheted the blanket (my mother has never crocheted in her life). The gift went over well with everybody.
When I worked as volunteer at hospice, I.bought about 40 dolls for the women patients!! They were all in Love❤
I have never been treated this kind by my own family...Trey is really an angel I'm thinking.... 😇 You are amazing .... both of you.

I’m a collector of these babies . There called reborn babies . They have cloth bodies and vinyl limbs and head . These babies are wonderful therapy for people with dementia .

Today i called my older brother from Canada to congratulate him on his birthday.He lives in Europe and i have not been able to visit him for a few years. He is afflicted with Alzheimer's disease also. I spoke to him about 6 months ago and sadly i could hear this time that there seem to be a decline in his speech pattern. We still had a wonderful conversation but i am now determined to call him once a month,as one day he will/may (?) lose the ability to speak altogether...
