Turned Back Within Sight Of Mt. Abraham Summit? -- X/14

- Mount Abraham is always a tough 8 miles with a very steep finale, but when the road isn't plowed and there's feet of snow on the ground it gets harder! Snowshoeing nearly 14 miles, and making it within sight of the summit before being forced to turn around, this was a Valentine's Day to remember! Even though we didn't actually summit the peak, this was one of the hardest days of the project thus far, and we're proud of our risk assessment and willingness to turn back on the ridgeline. Follow along on this adventure, and be sure to subscribe and stay tuned for the rest of this series!

Summit fever kills. Your humility is admirable and returning safely with a story is the real climax of any adventure. 🏔️ ☮️
We're definitely having fun with RUclips as it doesn't feel so much like the highlight reel...!
I hiked that trail the Sunday before this past Thanksgiving and was "interesting" drive to the trailhead.less than a foot of snow on the ground, but slow. I've been in many situations like you encountered. The Maine / New England backcountry deserves a lot of respect and you did just that. Looks like you all had a great day and inspired me to hit these summits myself next winter.
Hey John! Love to hear it. Thanks so much for tuning in and so glad it's inspiring you to get out there next winter!
Smart choices all around. Not an easy day, but still nice to get out there!
Good to get out there and know our limits!! :)
Finally getting the chance to watch your winter mountain hike series of videos. They are a pleasure to watch, especially since we have done all of these hikes in the summer and fall. Winter trekking with snowshoes is a whole different animal. Especially when you have to break trail. Glad to see that you are prepared with the right gear and make the right decisions when the hiking gets sketchy. Also it's obvious that the two of you are skilled in photography because the video clips that you choose are really well done. I'm also impressed by the quality coming out of a GoPro. I've seen too many skiing videos made by friends with the wrong exposure and horrible light. Your videos are clear, grain free and nice colors. Looking forward to watching more.
Hey Michael -- absolutely love hearing this. Thank you so much for your kind message! We so appreciate your intrigue and support. Definitely stay tuned for this summer's adventures as well as Season 2 next winter. :)
