Mad props to the kid and his gliders. Those things are wicked!
They remind me of the UMX Whipit, but DIY!
Bu dum chhh
Incredible scratch builds for a kid that age! Absolutely love seeing hobbyists this young
My paper plate plane is transporting a burrito to my mouff.
Great video!
HAHA
Teddy sounds like a natural presenter.. Maybe have him as a guest more often!
Neat I like the recycling. Your triangle is called a set square, at least here in the UK. Nice builds.
+Richard Harris Yeah, I was thinking that but after googling it I found it Americans call it a triangle.
Great to see some young people are still interested in model planes! Thanks for sharing a thought provoking video.
A micro F22 profile plane with a prop in slot layout is a great design for these 1 cell UMX boards. I threw one together in a couple hours and it flies beautifully. I had never flown a jet style plane or done high alpha but I had it hovering the very first flight with it.
I have a broken down Champ and some leftover foam board from a recent scratch build, maybe I should try doing something like this! Very cool!
Teddy Laughlin is one smart young man. Outstanding design and performance.Great job
hmmm since you guys mentioned depron at the start of the video that would be a really cool item to have on your store
It is truly amazing how FT has evolved over the years. Sad we don't get to see peter any more
shiloh bursle you could always just sub to his channel....just a thought.
Peter you know Flite test, your channel and Flite test is like the two of my favourites
This reminded me of David's DLG episode. Good ole days.
Ikr!
This was cool beyond words.
Petter up to his usual crazy contraptions. Good job!
Love your guy's work and your encouragement to the community. Amazing designs by that young man. Thanks for sharing.
God Bless your program so creative what a great thing you are all doing sooooo much better than television thank you.
That is not a triangle! that is a tool called a square, used as a reference to make things square (90* angle).
+Joseph Galvan It is indeed referred to as a triangle; amzn.to/1Tmxu9H
+Michael Anderson "Description: draftingtriangleset.drawingtrianglesetincludesapairofclearacrylictriangles(845/90degreeand1030/60degree)graduatedin16thsofaninchontwoedges.raisedinkingedgepreventssmudging.centercut-outfingerlifts.greattrianglesetforhome,school,studio,oroffice."
I wouldn't go by what whoever wrote this says
+Joseph Galvan I have always known them as set squares never a triangle.
I suppose its a triangle if you don't know what it is. www.amazon.com/Onyx-Blue-Degree-Set-Square/dp/B00YJF0M78/ref=sr_1_64?ie=UTF8&qid=1456947628&sr=8-64&keywords=set+square
Thank you!
fun with old comments
Sure nice, too see Peter back in the mix!!!
i wrecked some umx planes and haven't done any builds yet. this will help alot to keep me going into the hobby
How Awesome is Ted
what an great visionary to take tired planes and make new again....
Best episode from FliteTest
Definitely need to see some more stuff from Teddy. Also, somebody up that way who knows how needs to teach him vacuum bagging and how to use carbon for fuselages. You can throw gliders that size easily three times that height if you use the correct materials.
I was thinking of doing something like this with my ancient Parkzone Slo-V control box (with 5 wire servos and built in brushed ESC), and this video has convinced me to do it. Now I just need to decide whether to make a flying wing or a V tail glider. Can't unmix the servo channels...
thanks for making a video with the paper air plane. you did exactly what i thought you did. i have a micro spitfire that flys like trash but keept it to build my own micro with the bricks inside just reluctint to shred such a beautiful little plane
Great Video and Channel Guy's, In OZ we call the Triangle a Set Square go figure. Happy Days and Clear skies !
Those gliders are beautiful!
Peter .. your ideas are so interesting
More plans to make with those mini bricks, please!
anyway to get around using those salvaged circuit boards? such as those 7mm mini motorsx4 with a drone esc 4-in-1 chip for a mini plane. Or something like a microswitch to power 4 motors.
omg ! cross-over episode! I love both their channels :)
Love me some Peter shenanigans!
Really like this episode.
I love your channel, you guys have inspired me to make an indoor vtol plane.
Good job for getting this on discovery
it would be awesome to see u put a micro fpv set up on there some how
Guys. Peter is so rad.
Any chance we will see a asymmetrical design like the BV 141 in the future? Would LOVE to see a foam board BV 141.
Came the right time as I'm about to make one!
RC paper airplane here I come!!
Did you see that little RC machine they made for that, controlled with iPhones
That's awesome. The younger generation can benefit from RC much more than most realize. I was in to RC as young teen but soon as i lost the support to continue in the hobby I lost my way and ruined my life. Please please keep the kids in mind when ur at the field or track
Fitting this video should come out today. I got my mini Fox aerobatic chuck glider (model of the real Fox, not Multiplex) in today from china for an R/C conversion. Will be my first time using the micro 1.7g servos for a build.
i agree with flight test! I had a Sport Cub S that eventually got wrecked so i saved the pieces. A couple months later my friend wrecked his umx spacewalker so we just switched out the motors and it flew to see another day!
loving anything todo with coreless motors atm
yeah me too! I have a bunch of 4mm motors but they have 0.6 shaft. I cant find a prop or gears that would press fit. it's sad. I need resources. seems all are for 0.7 shaft
check ebay, there are motor prop combos for around $2 for two of each, even found a gearbox, motor, with a 14cm prop combo for $3, it was under the name "Reduction Kits Coreless Motor 716 Gear Box 3.7V 45000RPM For Remote Control" hopefully they have free postage to where you are as well xD
thought you might get a kick out of this ruclips.net/video/JSgRTPGYEQA/видео.html
The gliders are excelente, it suck so much rc gear is so expensive here, even worse a simple low end Rx & Tx is impossible to find, realy awesome vid !
balsa builds
Ikr
ParikhFC !!! i get the whole foam hype, i love it myself... but balsa
+YouTwinz yes? lol
👌
We've all seen David on steels periscopes. When can we expect him so be on camera again.
FYI - Home Depot has a pretty decent selection of small heat shrink, they come in small packs with about 8 lengths of about 2" each. Decent price too.
One word = Guillows
Make a great platform for these UMX power plants along with other salvaged plane electrics.
carboncubss
Exactly
superb balsa planes and a very cool kid!
I love the house it's pretty cool
So cool, my first scratchbuild was a poorly copied umx champ made from the guts of my crashed and broken champ. It could fly rather well for what it was, but the ground wire broke off right at the motor.
Cool ideas. I like the mini nutball. The micro planes are great but they do not crash well and often leave broken parts. The more your repair them you add weight and eventually they do not fly. The biggest problem I have is the parts break and malfunction at a much higher rate than other plane parts.
You should try to fly a bowling ball
yes. It would be more impressive still to fly a pair of bowling balls.
+Scissors95 or make a quad copper out of it
Jarvis Fillip or flying shoes
You guys do amazing things
I've been picking at the last flying wing using inkscape at 50% it's good to here that if I take it down to 45% the cuts = 3mm, also been using a hot wire rig to slice 3mm sheets from blocks of polystyrene flat screen TV packaging.
These videos are so cool.
Dose Teddy have dimensions or plans for those gliders?
I would be interested in building one.
@davidtucker there are many plans on line as pictures on google images, the wing span is about 20" and the length is 18"
thanks!
How durable are they in a crash? Just wondering because a friend of mine built one out of foam that size and it was way to fragile. It flew awesome though!
+David Tucker The thing is so light it doesn't crash that hard.
UH OH, FT mini F-22 in the works. Sneak peak @3:18 in between Peter and Josh! OOPS i shouldn't have spoiled it! LOL
I didn't know they sold a cable to turn off the gyros!!! I have a Horizon micro P51 mustang, and I think the gyros ruin the plane. I can barley fly it once any wind picks up, it feels disconnected and less predictable than the old one without the gyros. With the old one I could fly in as much wind as the motor could power through, and point the nose into the wind and just sit in one spot (I had a friend grab it out of the air, instead of landing at the beach in the sand). This may finally get that plane flying right! Thanks.
I'd love to see a roundup of UMX Receiver Bricks.
Can you please do another video with the specs of those gliders?
Do a build video on the paper airplane
Search peter sripol channel he did
I love these episodes, unique and detailed. At first I thought it was Joshua Finn back with some epic balsa gliders, maybe one day teddy will meet Joshua thanks to flight test. A controllable, folding wing, rocket powered glider sounds nice.. Does Ted have a RUclips channel?
Best ft vlog eveeeeer
good to know that i will be able to make a custom plane if i smash a micro to bits in the future because a 25kt gust sent me into an accelerated stall on final and i smashed the fuselage
Flite test is the best! :D
way to go , that was awesome young man .
Awesome jobs
I thought I was all suave and cool doing this with a Guillows Javelin and my old Hypertaxi electronics...darn kids always teaching me humility.
Pretty cool stuff!!
Great stuff now all the broken mini and micro helicopter have purpose
I had a dream! I dream my breakfast over the paper plate in the mornings 😂
using the old electronics why not make GROUND EFFECT VEHICLES
out of depron and race them
Yessss
+Lord B.L Thackrey Yes. Ive been trying to figure those out for a very long time.I think races with those would be a blast
Awesome guys!
I love these videos
Josh, new hoodie? i don't see it in the store yet, looks nice!
I wish I could meet you your awesome and inspiring
Hey Guy's at Flite Test. Please tell me a great place to get those bricks. especially at a decent price. $60 at Horizon Hobbies if a little to expensive?
JUst my opinion. Thanks for all you do and not to forget Peter. He is also very inspiring.
I have the receiver servo bord from the umx whitpit can you just solder a motor on somwhere
Great Video
Wicked cool, indeed.
When are the shinden and the mig 3 comming?
I tried to build very small Polykarpov Po-2 with 3-ch rc. But my project was closed bacause my plane would have too big wing loading.
P.S.: I'm from Russia, and Endlish is my second language
Hey, can you make a video with people just hugging Peter for like 20 minutes. Just to like bathe him in appreciation and RC-love for being nothing more than a gift to the hobby :). When that is done, just move on to his parents, grand parents and so on.
epic models
Awesome video love u guys
ít will be great if you make more video build micro plane :D
Do a build video on the mini old fogy
awesome video
i use the wltoys v911 heli brick for $10,flysky compatible and i think 6-8 grams 2 servos and can run a 8mm motor.
i like the idea of cheap micros.
Guys I would love to see another chapter of this but now how to make them with new electronics. I would never buy a micro plane of US$120 plus for that amount I prefer to buy a big airplane. But I have seen on banggood some micro or pico receivers.
hey can u ask that kid to post up planes of the planes
mad props
you can also buy the bricks from spectrums website
Great episode guys, keep up the good work! :)
@Flite Test
Hay guys, long time watcher, About the heat shrink tubes. Home depot has a mix set that has 1/16 diameter size heat shrink up to 1/2 inch diameter i believe only 4inch each tube and only a small handful of each size.. Issue is the mix set is pricey. What I do is ebay search and you can get a full foot to 3meter of ok quality heat shrink from 1/16 to 1inch in diameter for under $4 which is great but it takes awhile for it to come to you determining where you live from hongkong. But their are PC mod site like frozenpc that sells them $1 a foot or $10 a pack of 50 (1inch precut in length) in color from 1/16 diameter to 2inch diameter. ships faster and are good quality. I am a PC modder.
This is a great bit of inspiration. I have the internals from a SkyFly, but am not sure how large of a build I would need for that kind of weight. Is there a formula for that?
The "triangle" is speed square I believe... or a morphed protractor.
+Ranger McCue It is a triangle. What makes a speed square different is that one edge has a piece along it that is perpendicular to the rest of the triangle (forming a T) allowing it to act as a square. *The More You Know*
+John Cavanagh gotcha, thx for clarifying
I would love to see if you could use this but have a rubber band powered plane.
That mini DLG is sick!
i have a challenge for you guys make a 9v powered rc plane
