love this, good siren use, good horn use, police assist at a bad intersection. well done. Wonder if they are still that good at pulling over 10 years later?
Well, I'm sure while sitting in traffic, these people were passed close to 10 or 12 times by passing tank trucks...but people are generally good about pulling over in Southern Maine for some reason...can't complain
im loving the people pulling over on not just your side of the road, but the other as well! hell out here in new york where i am were lucky if people in out direction of travel pull over
I can't believe there's not any water source closer than what you guys had to drive. Our department is about 7.5 miles tall and 16 miles wide. We took large water tanks/silos and placed them around the district that are more or less gravity fed. You can get a couple refills out of them before you have to kick some fisherman off the boat ramp.
That sucks that the fill site is so far away. We're lucky enough that we have a water supply on almost every street in town. So shuttles are pretty easy
This video sets a good example on what people should do when a emergency vehicle is coming!! btw what kind of siren are you running? Sounds like it's from the late 80s to early 90s.
That was the closest water supply. The SMART Truck is a mobile feeding unit with a cascade system, light tower and radio room. Southern Maine Advanced Rehabilitation Team.
It's just my opinion, but I've seen other videos on RUclips where the firefighters were laying on the air horn for much less traffic. Also, here, the driver switched from Wail to Yelp when necessary, started to slow down way before he had to turn, didn't turn on two wheels, didn't drive aggressively, etc. Everything went smoothly, that's what I meant!
Surely given the distance from the water point to the fire did anybody consider there may have been alternate water supplies dams swinning pools rivers etc closer to the fire scene also how many tankers were involved with the shuttle and what is a smart truck
Like that bug shield on the front, espicially how it matches the color of the rig, I used to have one of those, but went through a car wash, and once I started to go through it, it went bye bye.....Now thats a air horn, but think it need to be just a little louder..LOL, hopw about replacing it with one of those Ocean Liner Horns, tell ya right now, it will make a TON of difference, when you need to make a clearing to get through...LOL, Great video....
By the way would you happen to have a pic of this vehicle we are riding in taken from the outside, just curious to see what it actually looks like, Thanks again......
@YorkEngine4 i never have understood why maine fire departments while they have their emergency lights on but the do not always run the siren. then though i started my fire and ems career here in maine, but ended up out in kansas and missouri fighting out there and it is the state law that if your lights are on then the siren has to be. the same thing goes for us volly's who are responding in our pov's to a call.

the tv stations are always on scene of something major. how do they know where to go? awesome driving.
It's called a bug deflector. It creates an air current when traveling that forces the air over the top of the truck to keep insects from messing up the windshield.
+Milano Walter Actually in Europe, when you go to Eastern Europe most of trucks have a "nose" while Scandinavian / West European trucks have a flat front to lower the chance of overrunning a passenger car, there's also less chance for someone to sabotage the truck and there's also a cover under the truck that does not allow anything too big to go under. However the fuel tanks are on the sides usually, on fire trucks those are covered however but on most other trucks they aren't.
Nice to see someone with common sense behind the wheel...I see some people at mine and neighboring departmebts going way too fast and putting everyone at risk. Nice calm driving there...NICE JOB! EVFD
I agree it's great seeing motorists doing the correct thing for an emergency vehicle by pulling over and getting out of the way. A lot of departments in the contenental USA do not see that happening as it needs to be. Also what is a smart tanker? I was a fire explorer and have friends in the fire service in the metro area and I am unfarmillar with this term. Good video nice safe profesional emergency driving also. You need louder air horns though I think.
@kurnellampdwarf YAH there is, i'm on a volly dept here in Western Mass and no body pulls over some dont even slow down. Useally when i'm driving it's siren on all the time and laying on the air horns when theres cars comming twords me. Wish people would pul over it would make tit easier on the narrow roads.
Great video , great truck. That being said , why was a kid on scene & I assume he rode on a truck to the fire ? So that meant someone couldn't do their job , cuz they had to play babysitter.
I never understood why guys take the time to turn the siren OFF after they get rolling..m like why would you take the liability? because you "don't wanna listen to it" get over it and leave the thing alone!
I love how people in Maine actually PULL OVER and STOP when they hear sirens and see apparatus approaching. I've been doing CPR in the back of my ambulance here in Maryland with some jackass or another not giving the right-of-way. :/
Nicholas Hilton never understood Mack’s, always seem overloaded and underpowered. Rolling bank vaults that are damn near indestructible, but really heavy. What powertrain does that thing have? Great driving though, I’ve only had the luxury of driving a Mack once.
Patsbro Games Very true! But the airport firetrucks carry a lot (not as much) water and they haul ass. Yes I am comparing apples to oranges but if a truck is used for emergency services, you'd think they would give a little upgrade to the engine.
kevin O They run slow because a tender is probably THE most dangerous apparatus in the fire service. lots of water= lots of weight. Its not that the engine is too small, its that when you need to stop it wont happen fast enough.
That traffic splitting was beautiful. A lot of people don't know how to pull over and let an emergency vehicle pass.
+WoTgamer guy I couldn't believe people actually got over.
Normally they want to risk people's lives to get to starbucks 15 seconds faster.
They dont here in up state ny either
How wonderful to see drivers respecting fire trucks!!!!!
good to see great pull over and stops by the traffic
Perfect use of siren & horn.
That siren is wicked sound right out of the 80's show Emergency great video i am glad i stumbled on it
yes sir early 90s too
love the way people pull over, try that in London!
love this, good siren use, good horn use, police assist at a bad intersection. well done. Wonder if they are still that good at pulling over 10 years later?
I love that old siren
I love the sound of the truck, siren and horns, I love the look of the lights
Well, I'm sure while sitting in traffic, these people were passed close to 10 or 12 times by passing tank trucks...but people are generally good about pulling over in Southern Maine for some reason...can't complain

Does York ME still have engine 6?
Every driver did an outstanding job off pulling over and stopping and staying stopped till he went bye good job everyone
i would like to thank you guys for the assist that day we all meaning jay and the whole department thank you alot

I've never seen such cooperative traffic in my life!
That sucks that the fill site is so far away. We're lucky enough that we have a water supply on almost every street in town. So shuttles are pretty easy
that's why fire police work good at intersections
Wow, traffic responded to the tanker phenomenally. I'm not used to seeing people yield that much.
i am happy to see cars and truck pullingover don't see that much
@JRFF18E Southern Maine Advanced Rehabilitation Team. Its a big box truck with a full kitchen, command center, light tower and cascade system.
Need to play east bound and down .never seen many cooperative drivers we got to lay on the horn and pa
What siren was used? I like the lower tone it matches the size of the truck lol, Those strobes on the grill were really interesting too.
@InvasorEspacial007 No, we were doing a tanker shuddle. The crew was going back to the hydrant for another load.
At one of my fire houses, we have a freightliner with a big cam Cummins with a 13 speed Eaton fuller with 2850 onboard. A blast to drive.
One road in/out of town?? That's a lot of traffic
Rush hour. Main throughway.
Nathan Fuller It's by the beach. It's always crowded in the summer, mostly by Mass-holes.
This video sets a good example on what people should do when a emergency vehicle is coming!! btw what kind of siren are you running? Sounds like it's from the late 80s to early 90s.

Why'd y'all drop code while still en route after turning off of that busy highway? Great driving!
Man i wish people would clear the street here for our engines let along a tender.. Nice video.
Stay safe
I'm from woodland township in Michigan we just got a new freightliner with a Polly 5000 gallon tank! That thing even loaded hauls ass!
It's just my opinion, but I've seen other videos on RUclips where the firefighters were laying on the air horn for much less traffic. Awesome display of some kickass MACK Trucks!
Oh and at 1:54, kudos to the drivers that cleared. It's usually a rare thing to see that much respect for the red.
It seemed like a long trip to pick up water. Were you using a Municipal Hydrant or a Dry Hydrant along a road & connected to a creek, river or lake ??
I counted at least 6 tanks in that video - is that how many were on the call??
@YorkEngine4 We got one. Newfield E1 has a 7 speed Eaton-Fuller.
WOW people moved over for once!
By the way would you happen to have a pic of this vehicle we are riding in taken from the outside, just curious to see what it actually looks like, Thanks again......
Great response! Love this rig! What's the engine and transmission, Mack E7 and Allison HT740? What model of Mack is this?
@bigrig587 No, it is very uncommon now to have manual transmissions in fire trucks.
Top speed 40mph?
Awesome video! Also what was the siren that was used? It sounds amazing!
Sounds like a Whelen WS-295
how come when the house next to me was on fire they couldnt use the river water?
@YorkEngine4 i never have understood why maine fire departments while they have their emergency lights on but the do not always run the siren. then though i started my fire and ems career here in maine, but ended up out in kansas and missouri fighting out there and it is the state law that if your lights are on then the siren has to be. the same thing goes for us volly's who are responding in our pov's to a call.

What's the function of the red transparent screen fixed on the truck's chest?
It's called a bug deflector. It creates an air current when traveling that forces the air over the top of the truck to keep insects from messing up the windshield.
+WoTgamer guy cleanest windshield in New England
+WoTgamer guy Thanks. We in Italy (and Europe) haven't see much of these because here 99,99% of tractors and trucks have flat cab.
bug deflector
+Milano Walter Actually in Europe, when you go to Eastern Europe most of trucks have a "nose" while Scandinavian / West European trucks have a flat front to lower the chance of overrunning a passenger car, there's also less chance for someone to sabotage the truck and there's also a cover under the truck that does not allow anything too big to go under.

Why are their not any hydrants closer?
Nice mack tanker! Good driving by the driver as well
Love the air horn On this truck 🚒🚒🚒
i love the sound of the siren on this truck
Nice to see someone with common sense behind the wheel...I see some people at mine and neighboring departmebts going way too fast and putting everyone at risk. Nice calm driving there...NICE JOB!
EVFD
How old is the truck?
Lots of water or not this one is really slow....
Have you guys ever thought about half filling tankers during an operation?
Iceman2692. what kind of crack head idea is that?
Very professionnal driving!
Geeee, how far away was the water source ?
These drivers r doing an excellent job of moving over
Nice mack trk
Okay, got a hell of a lot more respect for Maine now. Where I am people don't care because their coffee is getting cold.
I have a doubt. What is the Translucent orange bar in front of the bonnet ?
A visor.
Bug Deflector
wow traffic never does that for us down here in sc. of course were a city department so not much room to move.
only one question....why was the fill site so far away
Billy Wood the closes hydrant probably or closes pond
That seemed extremely far to shuttle water.
Love the air horn On the truck

is that an sp mark 7?
S H I N Y yes
That was the best video I have ever seen 5 Stars
I've been thinking... bambi-bucket supplementary shuttle with the tankers, for a big enough fire?
What year is Tank 4? 2000? 1999?
very interesting Bug guard you have there on the front of the truck.......
Great video , great truck. That being said , why was a kid on scene & I assume he rode on a truck to the fire ? So that meant someone couldn't do their job , cuz they had to play babysitter.

Bandsmurf, says the couch potato who's never driven one.
Do that fire truck got a cb radio in it so y'all talk to regular truck drivers on the interstate?
Cody Moore it has a vhf (very high frequency) to talk to dispach, other fire trucks, comand, etc.
@Firefighter5130 they do it in the North East i live in Granville New York and when we always go to a call they dont pull over what so ever
CFA our country fire service have been drafting from pools and dams for many years and never had a problem or a complaint to my knowledge
Love the horn
I love how people in Maine actually PULL OVER and STOP when they hear sirens and see apparatus approaching. I've been doing CPR in the back of my ambulance here in Maryland with some jackass or another not giving the right-of-way. :/
is the truck a mack??
yes
Oh cool
Its a RD688 or 690
Damn nice truck. Shere power!
LE must not play about pulling over around there
Actually 6 tankers total.
@Iceman2692 half fill tankers are easier to tip we about lost one due to that best to keep her full
I can tell that it's a Mack truck fire tanker 🔥🔥🚨🚨🚒🚒🇺🇲🇺🇲💪💪💪
Dude at 5:20 i thought the car crashed into the woods!
Wow, People actually pull over there...
what kind of serian
Doesn't anyone have manual transmissions anymore.
well be specific with new england theres the country and city so its kind of miss leading
Because after doing 6 or 7 trips already, I learned the traffic pattern and realized I wasnt going to be going very fast up the hill.
Nicholas Hilton never understood Mack’s, always seem overloaded and underpowered. Rolling bank vaults that are damn near indestructible, but really heavy. What powertrain does that thing have? Great driving though, I’ve only had the luxury of driving a Mack once.
what is the smart truck
Southern Maine Advanced Rehabilitation Team.
Nicholas Hilton Yessa !!
i hear you on that im from longisland people crash into our rigs more then aything else
with all due respect people in the states really dont pay much attention to other countires fire department in much detail
wow, never seen that before, people actually getting out of the fire truck's way, pulling to the right, who'da thunk it.
stay safe guys. good driving too. -RTFD-
Dexter's Old Tanker was better looking then that old Mack but the old mack still works good
wow those trucks are slow !
Lots of water broski.
Patsbro Games Very true! But the airport firetrucks carry a lot (not as much) water and they haul ass. Yes I am comparing apples to oranges but if a truck is used for emergency services, you'd think they would give a little upgrade to the engine.

You forget, the truck in this video is old.
A lot of emergency vehicles have governors on them to keep them safer from lead footed drivers. Could be the case in this one.
