I love them 360 Mopars.
I have 3 of them in my living Room, one is under the Hood of my 46 Chevy pickup.
Yes, the 46 Chevy is in my living room along with my Harley Davidson and all my other toys.
My Girlfriend doesn't care, She lives in Her own house.
Haha good job! Chevy with mopar power 👍🏻
Nice! I gotta pool table and a donkey kong machine in my living room. My 318 is gonna be in my kitchen when I build that up. Lol
Every body should have a mopar in ther living room I’ve had the harleys in the living room wen I had them back in the day the 90s but I don’t know how I would get a car in my living room would be a challenge little house but that’s awesome I bring stuff in the house and work on it in the winter no garage but cool
Bought a 75 Duster with a 360, had a 780 thermoquad. Ran great for a 75 and when a friend of mine who worked at a Chrysler dealership got done with it,it was producing about 345 horses. Loved that car. It came with just an air pump and 5000 mile warranty, as soon as the warranty expired we went to work on it.
I have a 72 Dart with a 360. 345 hp is all I want. Working on brake conversion first
So glad I found this video. I'm rebuilding the 360 in my ram w250, and I needed a good build to replicate. Ill probably skip out on the head job, but besides that I plan to do exactly this. Wasn't aiming for anywhere near 400 hp, but thats great news if the combo gets there!
If you want to know about cylinder head porting, watch some david vizard, or even some of my videos. The results for me have been quite impressive with my 318.
Nick's garage would be proud !!
Haha I hope so! Stay tuned because she will be getting new parts and dyno session soon

funny, i thought the same as you
Beautiful, both in looks and sound. I'm a believer in the old 360 myself, having built my own a long time ago. Mine was just a 0.040 overbore with ported stock heads and a 340 6-pack cam, but it pulled my Ramcharger like a champ.
Right on man! Thanks for watching
Sounds easy enough.
Very straight forward with the combo and to the point! And you're running a carb size and exhaust diameter that most us other guys are running also (not some ridiculous carb cfms or 4 inch exhaust like they tell ya in the forums lol)! Good to know 750, 1-5/8, and 2.5 exhaust works for over 400hp! I built a 360 Magnum for my Charger, makes around 300. This year I plan to build it all over again with a stroker kit and 11:1 comp! We'll see how much she makes then! Sweet car and engine man! You did a great job!
Thanks lot! I’m just getting into the RUclips thing now. But I have big plans coming down soon. You should subscribe and check out my other vids I have, new heads and cam going in soon and will be back on the dyno for a video in the next bit. Thanks again!
@@SimpsonsSpeedShop You're very welcome! I know what you mean by the RUclips thing! I have some videos up myself explaining my projects but I'm really awkward at talking lol! And for sure! Can't wait to see how much power she'll make after you're done! =]

The 360 is my favorite Mopar engine---they're cheap as dirt to buy used, and even with cast iron heads, you can still build 300-350 HP, no problem. Your Dart sounds amazing
Thanks! Check other vids on channel for a better look at her, and subscribe because motor was pulled today and I have new heads and cam going in and will be back on dyno soon!
Do u know if i can make 420 hp whit my 2000 dodge ram 360 do u guys think the heads will take it
Jose Garza if they are stock magnum heads you need to upgrade them, unless you spray it or boost it.
Stock 5.2 and 5.9 Magnum heads are some of the best flowing small block Mopar heads ever made. I have a 5.9 Magnum with bone stock heads and a Hughes cam that is making almost exactly this much HP and I only have about $2000 total in the whole engine swap.

I'm glad I found this video. I really don't know alot about Mopar. I'm a GM guy. I'm looking to buy a Dodge Dart Swinger. This would be a nice start

AWESOME BUILD...NOW CONVERT OVER TO EFI like FAST EFI...I did my 360 is the bomb now. Gets good milage too.... MOPAR 4 EVER.
Very similar setup to my old Australian built Chrysler regal se with a hot 360. The old 360 is a fantastic engine, shits on my ls1 easy. Was going to get more power but I'm happy with this, very nice to drive and beats most modern imported shit boxes. Good set up mate and nice car .
Right on thanks bro! And thanks for watching, lots more on the channel!
I doubt you will see this comment. My brother and I are building a 360 for a 2wd long bed single cab d150. To do it cheap, our first build is going to be a stock bottom end. Hughes 360 whiplash cam. Ebay headers, well ported 1.88 valve 596 heads, and a well port matched ported 4 barrel iron quadrajet truck intake.
Our next build will be a .060 over, 10.5 to 1 360. 2.02 valves heavily ported 308 casting heads, same 4 barrel intake port matched, and heavily worked, but the cam eill be a hydraulic roller with a 108 lsa around 550 lift. And about 240 duration int 250 exh.
I see you bro! Sounds like fun!
i was 18 and had a 360 back in the day in a 69 barracuda notchback. it had 75 974 heads that were cut for 2.02/1.60s along with some bowl n seat work. vavletrain was stock type stuff but better springs. used the tried and true 284/484 purple shaft cam. we decked the heads to get true 10:1 with KB 9.8 pistons. i dont remember what intake i had but i used a 3310 holley for street duty and had 1 5/8" primary 4-1 headers. never dynoed it but the car ran a best of 12.12@112 on a 1.59 60ft with 25" tall M&H racemaster DRs, using stock springs and a pinions snubber with 3.55s. trans was a 904 with 999 gearset and a PTC 3k converter.
the car was very light. it was manual everything and the only real option it still had in the car was the heater, lol. i weighed it at memphis motorsports park, 3050lbs. it would go between 3040lbs and 3060lbs, half tank of gas.
i would imagine the car was around 375-400hp. i just wanted a simple, reliable street car that didnt require a lot of top end maintenance. it fun times back then.
Yea that sounds bang on! Your 300 lbs lighter than I am and I bet you ho guess is right on the money. You 60 foot time is great! Better than mine right now! Thanks for watching
Awesome street motor!
Getting ready to build a 408 for my RamCharger. Damn bro a cam, heads and some induction and you pulled 420. WICKED!!!!!!
Just getting ready to do new heads, a solid roller cam, and a tunnel ram. Check some of my other vids for more info. Thanks for watching
Also..after thought... electric fan and serpentine belt system may rock 10-12% more hp and torque..? THAT PAINT IS AWESOME LOOKING! Fantastic ride!
Ha thanks! Yes electric fans would help out about 15-20hp. Maybe in the future. Thanks for watching.
I love you are like “it’s pretty much all stock and cheap” then names about 10 mods. Headers, pistons, windage, cam, fuel pump.
I’m looking for novice level easy.
That’s a real nice little dart ther I wish I still had my 72 set up for a bigblock had everything already to put back together and I was forced to sell due to circumstances beyond my control shit happens but I sure wish I had it right know I’d be out ther screaming up and down the streets track witch ever but that’s a beautiful paint job you got ther real nice 360 also nice job on the car did you put car together or just motor

I can't beleive that engine stays at a reasonable temperature with that flex fan and no shroud. You'd probably get more hp with an rpm fan clutch w/6 blade factory style fan and shroud or dual deralle electric fans. Still a nice car and good sounding engine.
It has an electric push fan on other side of radiator. Those clutch fans are notoriously bad for robbing hp. I don’t Ben have the flex fan anymore just the push fan. All good. More vids on channel new motor way better
My combo is nearly identical;
Mine is 276/286/110, 230/237@050, and lifts of .549/.571 at a true 10.95 Scr.
My car goes 93 in the Eighth at 3457pounds/me in it. By it's trapspeed and race weight, that calculates to about the same power. I shift my 4-speed at 7000, just to hear it . Don't care how quick it is or could be.
I said nearly identical,
except it don't idle like that. By comparison, My idle is nearly dead smooth down to 550 @5* advance. Mine was a DD for many years, now semi retired with over 100,000 miles on the clock. Daymn fine street combo.
I really want to call bs on the Cam, but just don't have the courage.
Bs on the cam? What you mean by that?
@@SimpsonsSpeedShop
Like I said, My combo is nearly identical, but does not idle, sounding like that. Even my 292/292/108@ 11.3 Scr did not sound like that.
Something seems off to me, I don't know what it is, so I'm not gonna call bs, like I said; I want to but not gonna.
My combo has the same top end, the same heads the same block, almost the same cam, the same TTI headers, the same power-timing, and
Nearly the same are;
My pistons are up out of the deck at .007, with 039 gaskets and closed chamber heads. The bore and stroke are 4.04 x 3.58. My idle timing is electronically adjustable from the front seat, to run from 5* to 20*, but is normally 14. and yes I run a PCV, and the VA is on the sparkport..
There is no way I can make mine sound like that.
If the cam really is 231/237/110 as is listed, then my guess is
A) that the cylinder pressure is quite a bit higher than mine, which has run between 195 down to 185 psi. or
B) the overlap is quite a bit more than what you would get on a 110cam of that size.
To me, it's a mystery.
@@ajforms4818 the cam is what I said. I bought and installed myself. Maybe the Flowmasters help the sound but I don’t know what you’re hearing lol.
@@SimpsonsSpeedShop
What I'm hearing, is, I think,
a lot of energy still in the exhaust, and
what seems like, a lot of EGR in the intake; and a power-peak of 420hp@5800, according to the dyno.
So then, to do all of that, normally takes a cam like the 292/292/108 Mopar. This cam has 76* of overlap, a power-stroke of just 102 (in 4* advanced), and a power-peak at around 5600. That's the kind of thing I am used to hearing. This has nothing to do with the exhaust system.
Whereas,
the specs of the cam in the video, might be; 61* of overlap, a power-stroke of 103*, and a power-peak closer to 5200.
So you know, my elderly brain gets confused by the incongruity, of specs versus sound.
But I gotta say, before I got to tuning it, my 292/292/108 cam idled sorta like that, but only sorta.
But what do I know; I'm just an old retired motorcycle mechanic; and my wife keeps telling me I need hearing aids.
Don't tell her but I often ignore her on purpose, cuz after almost 50 years of marriage, what could she possibly tell me that I haven't heard before.
Nice I have a LA 360 I want to rebuild and put into a dart or duster. Nice build love them s/s wheels.

Do you have part #'s. I want to copy cat your engine. Getting my 2000 Ram 1500 quad 4x4 re-painted and going to detail under carriage and several goodies on the exterior. Would love part #s. I think I have located most but I want to be sure. This will be my first mopar build and I want it to be like yours. Hope the truck will sound as nice. Great Job. I am guessing I will have to do a new transmission as well! LOL
No part numbers but just go on summit and you will find one. Just a tapperd 4 hole but honestly an open one on that intake is better. Just 1” tall. Thanks for watching!

Sounds like the setup I’m looking for with my 67 F/S barracuda. I’ve got a fairly stock 71 360 now. I was thinking 408, but this will do nicely.

Sorry for late response check out my new dyno vid! Big power from a 360!
@@SimpsonsSpeedShop thanks, I will. Honestly, 400-500 hp, with a near equal torque out of a small block is perfect for me. I don’t do organized anything, so if I’m racing someone with it, it’ll be for shits and grins, not the track. I’m 55, but never lost that teen rebellious spirit if you know what I mean ? There are so many ways to get there, and quite a few old Mopar gear heads around for precise, tried and true Options. My focus is on longevity and the right amount of hp/torque, making it nimble in the twisties, which was the whole focus on the improved handling package of the formula S. European handling with American power and size. The beginning for other than little roadsters.
Hey buddy! I had a 66 Barracuda formula S that I used to run years ago. I had one hell of a nicely done 340/727 in it and there wasn’t a big block around that could stay in the same county as me with that hi-reving small block. I miss that car so much!!
I then had a 67 convertible. I love those old barracudas!! I’d sure love to find another one day!!

Hey there! I love your build, what compressed thickness head gasket did you have to use to get that 10.5:1? Also did you have any piston clearance issues? Thanks!
Hey on this build I just used the good felpro gaskets on it. Comp was really an estimate. No valve to piston issues. The piston do have a valve relief in them as well.
What pistons did you use?
Great vid Joe , keep up the good work , we can do some Chevelle vids in the future

Did you use full floating wrist pins? And if so, I'm assuming you had bushings installed in the stock rods?
Sounds vicious
That's a beautiful music making machine!
Hell ya
I have a few questions about this build, what is the deck height, are the pistons in the hole or at zero, are the pistons dish style or flat w/reliefs(cc)s, what is gasket thickness, what is the cc on cylinder heads? Sorry for the questions but I want to try to match this combo as inexpensive as I can.
Thanks for your time 👍
Not zero decked. Don’t know how far. Pistons are flat with valve reliefs heads are stock Eddy’s cc 64. Final comp is around 10:5. Check new dyno vid for a better combo. Thanks for watching

More about the spacer.
Air Gap great manifold.
How thick spacer?
How far down did you cut the center divider?
What would you recommend with low hood clearance?
Less spacer and more center divider cut?
Didn’t cut Center divider but did knife edge it. 1” spacer. I don’t recommend on a low hood will prob hit. Looking back over data tho open space is a touch better for a few 100 rpms. This one did even fuel ratio side to side. Thanks for watching.

No I don’t old combo. Just jump on summit and fill a cart! Thanks for watching
Great job!! Good video. Thank you.
Do they make roller camshafts for the 360 , or is it an expensive and painful retro-fit and not worth it.
They do make roller cams. They are expensive to buy as with all older engines. Som mods sometimes have to made. Depends of lifters mostly. I’m rebuilding this engine right now with a solid roller. Stay tuned for more.
From 89 to 92 dodge 360LA came from the factory with roller cams, in 1988 the 318LA got the roller cam upgrade.
If you are planning on using an electric fuel pump a magnum style roller cam will work in a LA engine. (Magnum cams do not have the lobe to operate a mechanical fuel pump)
What tread do you have on there in the back ? and what size are they ? They look really good. I have just about the same motor, mines a 340 though. Love the beefy old school look of those tires. Thanks.
The street tire are n50s. I run a 28x11.5 slick at the track. Check my other vids for a better look at them. Thanks for watching!

Is the 420 rear wheel hp?
How much does the car weigh?
I'm running a 73 duster , 3480 with 1/2 tank gas. 3800 stall, 370 gears, true 380 hp mopar crate motor, eddy heads ported polished (same with M 1 intake), 750 dpl. Online calculators estimate a grim 13 sec 1/4 mile. You mentioned you are 12 flat which is where I'm trying to be. A mopar engine builder stated I need at least 500 crank hp to be in that range.
Where did I go wrong?
In your opinion, how much hp does porting polishing the heads and intake approx. add?
What if I remove the eddys and replace with the Trick flows? Worth it? Thanks for your time
Note: I also have a never used 100 shot NOS installed
+howard 1784 hey there it’s 420 at the crank. Car weights like 3350 with me, I think. You don’t need 500 hp to get to 12 flat. I do have 4:10 gears but with a tall tire makes it 3:90 ish. Did your crate motor come dyno tuned? If not you are probably leaving bourse power on the floor. Proper timing and carburetor adjustment are critical to make max hp. Edelbrock heads will make up to 450 hp rage. Trick flows are better tho. I wouldn’t bother porting the Eddy’s. Hell if you want that 12.00 hit it with the spray! Just turn timing down first.
Very nice !!!!!!
Question for you since you're running a adjustable adjustable rockers and you have to adjust your valve train what valve cover gaskets are you using
Fel pro double cork steel inside.
Nice bullet

Not on this build
Nice build, what did you use for valve train parts? rockers, pushrods? What head gaskets? Length of the pushrod?.thank you
Stock length pushrods. Rockers were just stamped replacements the. I did upgrade to comp roller. Felpro head gaskets. Thanks for watching
@@SimpsonsSpeedShop Joe did you use softer valve springs for the cam break in? I am in the process of doing this build now and I don't want to wipe the cam out.
Cool engine setup. I’ve been trying to Oder parts on my dodge 360. But When I type in my info, it doesn’t allow me to get mopar performance valve covers like the ones you have. How can I get them?
Oh I think they have now been discontinued. eBay May be your best option. Thanks for watching! Subscribe to not miss my next video.
What rockers do you use? I’m trying to build mine to be similar but the only good rockers on summit racing according to reviews are $500
On this motor I use the comp “magnum” rockers and Mopar blocks. I did have non adjust stock style rockers on it before tho.
I dig it! I'm guessing it required a rebalance since you have swapped pistons? I'm guessing you went with externally balanced then?
It’s still externally balanced. The piston swap was actually done before I got it. The engine is currently in another rebuild with new heads cam and intake, dyno vid coming soon. Thanks for watching.
What a beautiful car!!! With the Eddy heads I imagine you are running cometic head gaskets? Do you know off hand what bore and compressed thickness you used? Thanks and keep posting the videos!!!
With the Eddy’s I was not comedic gaskets. Just the good steel ringed Felpros
Edelbrock aluminum heads kind of blows the 'cheap' aspect out of the water @ $1540 a pair.
You can used ones a lot cheaper. There are lots out there. You can’t make horsepower with spending ANY money! Thanks for watching
IMM cast steel heads flow better than eddy heads and cheaper
I'm getting ready to build my magnum . It's at machine shop now. I'm undecided if I want to use stock heads if they aren't cracked. Them with a nice hughes roller cam should make 375 hp and over 400 torque. What gear you running I'm going with a 3.55
Like I said sweet Dart 🤪👍
Thanks! Stay tuned for more!
How's the vacuum on this engine?
What's the cost to build this? Have a Dakota r/t 5.9 that I want to built up but on a budget. I work at a shop so most of the labor will be done by myself or co worker. Thank u

MP crate 360 short block, XE275HL, Edelbrock heads, Air Gap, 750 QF, TTi headers and 2.5 in exhaust, 727TF, 9.5in Dynamic converter, 8.75 Auburn posi 3.91. 3325 w/me in it. Never on engine dyno, so good to know your numbers, but mine put down 326hp, 330tq to rear tires in '11. Streetcar avg 12.26 on HR Drag Weekend '16. Best 1.64 60ft, 12.006 at 113 at 1500 DA, so your 1/8 mi. estimate is solid. Going XE285HL now with Holley Sniper EFI with timing control just to change it up! Careful now with that solid roller...
Hahaha that’s awesome. Sounds exact same! Time’s and all. Right on man. Your new set up sounds good. I’ll have my new set up on dyno pretty quick here. Stay tuned! Thanks for checking it out.

Same right down to the Bouchillon Performance kickdown (instructions dated '04). Best 1/8 is 7.51. Biggest difference is likely 26x10.50-15 ET Sreet R bias. You probably get a better DA in CAN. Let's see a video of that roller cam and solid roller lifters that work in an LA block without unshrouding gallery, oil pressure loss, or needle bearing failure. BAM 8.15 roller?
Using morel lifters, they don’t require and work to the stock block. My engine builder/dyno guy uses them all the time. He has had really good results.
@@SimpsonsSpeedShop I believe Morel and BAM are synonymous. Excited to see those TF heads run. Hopefully you disclose those solid roller specs. Recently "pumped up" a 12yr old Comp hyd flat tappet on mine and broke the retaining spring. Bought a Comp solid roller XE280R, but think I like the flat tappet simplicity and finding a durable roller lifter is tough unless you go Isky bushed for $1600. Looking forward to seeing your progress. -Another relatively young Mopar guy.
Do you remember the timeslip on the strip with this setup?
High 12s converted time from my track
I’m looking at restoring or perhaps upgrading the 360 for max pulling power in a 78 power wagon. Any tips?
Go for torque!
What’s your ET with this combo? What is your weight? My 360 Belvedere has run a best of 7.39 . It weighs 3620 with me in it. Thanks.
Weight is around 3300 with me in it. It has run a 12.000 equivalent (my track is short so there is a converter) check my other vids for more info, and motor is out not for upgrades. Subscribe to follow the build. Thanks for watching.
Was the Wilson spacer the tappered combo?
Yes
Whats the cost?
no pvc?
That things a beast
Just wait till the new heads and cam! Thanks for watching. Stay tuned for more!

Which edelbrock heads are these , the 190cc or the 171cc? I’m looking to build a 360 and am curious on which style you went with
I don’t know of any eddy heads that are stock with 190cc intakes.
What's the exact cam name and where can I order it from? A link will be really useful. Thanks.
Order from summit write down stats and look it up! Thanks for watching
@@SimpsonsSpeedShop Got a link of the cam your using? I want to buy it directly through the link please.
@@Tahaaslamm__ no link this motor was like 5 years ago.

Doing a similar build... Stock crank, forged rods/.060 pistons, solid cam. What head gaskets did you use after doing your spring refresh? Thanks in advance.
I just used the good fel pros with the steel piston rings. Got from summit. Using cometic ones on the rebuild I’m doing right now. New heads solid cam and intake with a full rebuild. Will have a dyno vid soon. Thanks for watching.
@@SimpsonsSpeedShop What is the weight, your stall speed and best ET with this combo?
I’m building this same combo in a 340. So I’ll have around 425/425 in a higher rpm band as a guess.
Would depend on cam. If same cam I bet it would be almost the exact same.
SimpsonsSpeedShop same cam and heads. L2316 .040 piston the previous owner built it with. About 10.25-1, running a 1” open spacer.
Prob about 200rpm higher due to the stroke. Just a guess, but it will be close
You mentioned it was mini tubbed, did you also have to narrow the rear?
Yes narrowed the rear about 3” each side to use a 4 1/2 back spaced 10” rim. Subscribe because I will do a video on that in spring when it’s back on road.
@@SimpsonsSpeedShop Damn, that's how you got them wheels in there. I just asked you about them. How much roughly does a mini tub cost?

stock stroke 360?....sweet!
Check out new dyno vid on new 360. 530hp
Awesome👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks! Keep tuned for the upgrade coming soon with heads, cam and dyno session!
I have a 1965 Coronet with a 451 big block but it has low end stock heads. I want to cam it and heads but not sure the lingo or knowledge ugh. I’m trying to learn by watching videos like yours. I will keep watching and thanks for replying 👍
