i know its an expansive setup but i think that the mini with a steam deck is the perfect setup you'll be able to play a ton of aaa games with the steam deck and its just massive size but also emulate the harder systems on it while the mini you can take anywhere and still emulate a whole load of systems i think they make the perfect duo just a very expansive one.
@@jonnmgo7524I was thinking about that but with all the customer support issues that Asus is having right now at at that point I’d go for the steam deck OLED that has a way better battery life so that’s why I’d rather go with the steam deck even though I love the rog ally the battery is a massive downside for me personally it also has a much better screen
I really hope that we will eventually get a "SteamDeck-level of powerful" portable/handheld device with the "Odin2 Mini's size & body form/shape" plus with an OLED Screen all at once BEFORE GTA7, because that would be the goated way to play Modern Hardware games anytime, anywhere! I wouldn't even care if it's just 720p or 1080p rather than 1440p or 2160p as long as not only is their screen pixel-dense enough, but it also saves some processing power too! The Steam Deck's "10/9 extra screen height" means nothing to me, however... And neither does the 2020s' Smartphone's modern extra landscape-width or extra portrait-height! (And yes, I said GTA7 rather than GTA6 completely on-purpose because of how unlikely my other hope sounds since we are nearing this close to GTA6's release-date by this point in time now)
2:48 this shot right here is why i hate it when people say “just get a steam deck” whenever talking about like this. they serve two different purposes. And sure while it is a tad expensive things cost money to make and keep in mind the phone this chip normally comes in is a 900+ msrp
along with the fact this guy has a bit more premium feel to it that the deck doesn’t quite have due to valve cutting some corners to cut costs. also case wise i would look into the stretchy sleeve- style cases or maybe even see how a 3ds case might fit.
I'm still waiting for my Odin 2 mini... I used the DHL order... It's two days past the expected arrival... I've been trying to track it... It hasn't updated... Is this normal?
This looks like the perfect handheld I was looking for a couple months ago. But since it didn't exist yet, I got a Steam Deck instead. And the Deck is great, but if the Odin2 Mini had existed 3 months ago, I would've owned it right now.
I just purchased a Steam Deck over Odin2 Mini. My PC game library is massive and Steam is so convenient. Think I made the right choice. Still kinda want to try the Odin2 Mini or its successor.
I never got a regular odin 2 because i already had a steam deck and didnt need another large handheld but im definitely getting one of these the size puts it in a completely different league from the deck
Ordered a week ago i missed my OG Odin 2 try a RP4 Pro trash this was a godsend!! I will also try and use emudeck this time around for setup as i didn't know of this method!
I already ordered mine. I think the only real curiosities of mine are how bad the vignetting is, and more importantly battery life. i have a general idea, but it varies quite a bit based on what you're playing plus the screen settings. Would love to see a reviewer do some kind of spreadsheet with a few common applications.
I have this "might as well" buyers dillemma. Im thinking, for that amount of money an Odin costs I might as well buy a Steamdeck. And when Im thinking about steamdeck I think I might as well buy a laptop which probably has better performance if GPU is not integrated and better battery time. Pls help. Why buy these handheld pcs over a laptop :/
This is a tricky one. Basically the question is what you plan to do with something like a Steam Deck. Do you ever wish to use it easily for anything seriously besides gaming? You can hook up a Steam Deck and transform it into a PC but it‘s a barrier to doing it quickly. If you just care about gaming: Steam Deck. If you want to do something else: laptop. Again, you can do it all on Steam Deck but it‘s inconvenient.
You're not wrong. However, in reality, the experience is very different when using a Steam Deck vs this device vs a laptop. For example, I have a SD and hate it. It's big, heavy and battery is not that good.
Just dropped a 1tb micro SD-CARD Lexar on my A-O2 Pro...Black Edition... It's pretty much loaded... Music...Movies... Which the unit has front / Back cameras...since the cpu supports it...🙃🤣🧐🤓😊
Be aware the 1.5tb cards copy at 20MB/sec where the 1TB or 512 Ultra Extreme you will get 90MB/sec. Just something to be aware of. I have Odin 2 Pro with 1.5TB Sandisk Extreme.
A little bit too pricey especially for the low battery life. We'll wait for the drop 100 bucks down the road when they release something else. Or just get the newer thing deck doesn't have to be OLED pretty decent battery runs switch perfectly and everything else. Plus you're going to be able to play PC gaming.
What got you to say that? The Odin 2 base is still higher than this price point? You have a 1 year old chipset, normally in phones that still retail for 600-800$ at this point. I understand the costs are distributed to cameras, their display but still… seems like a good bit of wishful thinking at best and frankly borderline delusion at worst?

I sold Odin Lite while ago, did not buy anything to replace it. I think O2M is the one!
Awesome review! Was waiting for it!

Steam deck for at home use and odin 2 mini for travel :)

Great video! How did you get the android app tab in emulation station?
There’s an app that does it for you called ES Applauncher. You can find it on Github, it’s by schattenphoenix.
Also, thanks.

when you handling it... does its build quality feels premium or cheap?
Premium. It has a heft to it.
Try out the Waterfield case for the Switch Lite! Expensive but top tier quality
Will check it out, thanks!
Do you think the Odin 2 Mini would be powerful enough to play a modern PC game that is new but with lower settings like Baldur's Gate 3?
It runs Android, so it can’t run PC games, except maybe with Winlator but not sure that’s a great experience.
@@overkillwtf Great point - thank you. An obvious oversight on my part!
The PS VITA's face buttons were too small and the sticks didn't control FPS games well. Hopefully this mini improved on this

Will It Play PS2 And Nintendo GameCube
This should essentially be identical to the Odin 2 performance, so ‘yes’ is the short answer.

No reviewer said it gets hot. It gets a little warm if you are running it full out emulating something like ps2 with excessive settings.
