"Rather a poor choice for a man's last words." Brilliant! )) Great film. Too bad a good quality version doesn't seem to exist. Watched this film once as a kid, and now discovered it here. The story is interesting, the pace is fast, the acting is good, the music excellent, and the leading lady is an outstanding beauty. What's also remarkable is that this low-budget TV production has such an ensemble cast!

Not particularly interested in "romance novel" stories, but something about this movie caught my attention when it aired on television in 1989. So I taped it, and I'm glad I did, as it's very good. Still have the videocassette. When it comes to this genre, Dame Barbara Cartland certainly knew what she was doing

davidpar2 I had it on video too and it's probably still in the attic somewhere. I loved this movie and watched it over and over.

This is the fourth Barbara Cartland movie I've seen and they ALL have at least one sword fight. I think that's kind of funny.

Almost as good as my top 10 Favorite Television Mini Series ,topped "I Claudius" , although, did NOT quite make it But Thank You 4 the upload, dear @tteao! It's a ! great Mini Series In my Opinion! But still "I Claudius" is the Greatest TV Miniseries ever made and shown on Television!!! Stephen Spielberg's In my opinion the top F (10) or (X.) Television Miniseries are as it follows: #10.:"The Corner", #9.:"Jules Verne's:Journey to the Moon (Utazas a Holdra)", #8.:"Shogan", #7.:"V-The original Miniseries" and "V-The Final Battle", #6.:"The Stand", #5.:"Stephen Spielberg's:Taken", #4.:"Angels in America", #3.:"Hornblower", #2.:"Rich Man, Poor Man", And finally Numero Uno :#1.:"I Claudius" And I want to mention another Kind of Miniseries, It' Basically One Long freaking Mini Series but it's 5 - three to four Parts Mini Series, so I couldn't place them, with the rest of those Mini Series So Here "Lonesome Dove", "Return to Lonesome Dove" ,"Dead Man's Walk", "Streets of Laredo" and Finally "Comanche Moon" It's the same story based on the Novels of the Great American Novelist:"Larry McMurtry" So! Back to "The Lady and the Highwayman" CHEEES GUYS! ENJOY THESE GREAT MINI SERIES!!!

I can't even recognize Hugh, his voice is different in this movie. I mean compare this voice to his voice in Sense and Sensibility. they don't even sound like the same person. how ironic.

I'm sorry. tooo dumb. Cromwell was dead 2 years before Charles II came to the throne; This is set in the 3rd part of Dumas' Three Musketeers books and with both cannon and muskets common, soldiers didn't wear full medieval helmets any more. And so on....
