Were you ever onboard when we still had the Tomcats? It was pulled along with a braided steel cable and when it launched the cable was deep 6 in the drink.
Well if the green shirt doesn't do his job correctly, then the take off signal from yellow shirt won't mean a damn thing other then millions of dollars falling into the ocean

Just to clarify. That Topside PO is giving the instruction to bring the aircraft forward. Once the launch bar drop into the saddle of the shuttle, he then give the instruction to put the aircraft under tension. He checks the hold back bar and the launch bar then gets out of the way.

I was air force and was in Iran in 77 for joint exercise with US NAVY , Iranian air Force, navy had 5 ACFT on the base we were at ,, they had less than 10 sailors working on them like 16 hrs a day. K said to one of them, bet you'll be glad to be back on the carrier and take a break. The sailor said shzz they are working harder than we are😮😮😮😢

VMFA-312 is a Marine fighter/attack squadron stationed at Beaufort, South Carolina. They have been sporting F/A-18s since the mid 80's and replaced the F-4s. I was a seat mech. stationed at Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii with VMFA-212. I had a total f-ing blast- awesome experience, worked and partied hard with the most elite fighter mechanics in existence. Semper Fi, my brethren!!

My father was a Marine Corps, air craft carrier qualified, combat pilot in Viet Nam. Flew both choppers and fixed wing OV- 10, F9, Chinook, Huey among others. When I was a young girl he used to tell me stories about his time stationed on the USS Valley Forge stationed just 10 miles off the DMZ. Never get tired of watching a ground crew. Remarkable men. Thank you.

They would test planes there and we could watch them from the fence line. He also loved to go to the airport and watch the planes there. I would go with him every chance I got. Miss you daddy. First, that is NOT an A-10. That was not your question tho. Tank Killer; The A-10 Warthog is not meant to be pretty or stealthy and does not pretend to be anything other than what it is: a plane designed to provide air cover and kill things like enemy armor.

That's a Marine F-18, not a A-10. The A-10 is a Air Force Plane and it doesn't take off from Aircraft carriers.

The A-10 is used by the USAF, while the F-18 is used by the USN.
The small jobs like these that make everyone else's jobs much easier are some of the most important... They can make such a huge difference. ❤
