- Improve your Iaido & Learn the art of quick draw (Nukitsuke) with these Iaido techniques
We love a good quickdraw, especially the ones we see in Samurai Films & Animes. However is it really representational in real life? Is speed really the end goal in Sword Drawing?
In this video I am sharing a rare pov breakdown of how a Japanese sword is intended to be drawn. And pose a philosophical question on what justifies as an appropriate way to draw a Japanese sword.
think of an example like below:
During wartime: kill or be killed - is everything negligible as long you can fight another day by being the fastest to draw your sword?
In modern Iaido: the pursuit of perfection - is neglecting towards the care of your sword and techniques is the right way to reflect your shortcomings and to improve upon yourself?
Let's discuss!
This is a repost from the older channel updated with Voice Хобби
Because of dedicated people like you, I finally did It… I’m officially a Iaido student in a Muso Shinden Ryu Koryu (really fresh, just five weeks in and having a amazing experience)
Keep up the good work, thank you 🙏
I am humbled thank you! im glad what i do to create the sword art alive!
Rico are u japanese?
For the guy who thinks this is kind of slow: "slow is smooth, smooth is fast" Skill builds quicker than you think. You demonstrated many points that would take years to pick up on. Thank you.
thank you! thats a good line! "slow is smooth, smooth is fast"
@@NamazuRyuSaikenIt's one we often heard in the Army when training for urban close quarter combat.
@@hammerfist8763 oh? How does it go and how it works? Genuinely curious
@@NamazuRyuSaiken When learning new combat techniques, it is important to master every aspect slowly, until they become a habit/instinct, before speeding up and doing them quickly. Like "stay off the walls, peel corners wide, cover your sector, aim slightly in front of the target." Slow is smooth, smooth is fast, was a good reminder for us to slow down and concentrate on doing it correctly.
You got me with number five... but I parried the first four.
Haha well done! This is an oldie - I should probably make an updated version and see how you fare 😆
Great channel, thanks for sharing these tips.
Thank you 🙏I've been on hiatus from these, I should really spend the time to make these videos again
@@NamazuRyuSaiken i know videos are time consuming, but very beneficial for those like myself that are self-taught.
@@samuraibyrd i will try to make some update videos too - im still learning and growing so maybe some of the older tips might not be as efficient 🙏
Hi, good Training ⚔️💯 tank you 🙇♂️
Thank you for watching 🙏
I've been practicing these for months. If I do ten of each in a row the first few are crap and only then I do some right. Long path.👍🌲
Its a hard one for sure 😄 especialy when we wanna make it smooth
What an awesome video. I got maybe 4 of them right, but to be brutally honest, it was a game of "Stone, Scissors, Paper" for me, and I just got lucky 🤣
Hahaha that's a great point! The choices are very much like stone paper scissors...😬
Love your teaching videos I always go back to them to get the little details.Luckily I do the same style as you Muso Shinden Ryu.By chance do you know the 8 direction drill?Do you plan to do this in video form in the future?
Hi yes I do, apologies because I've been really busy haven't had time to make any new videos
@@NamazuRyuSaiken Understandable life is full of distractions.

I don't believe I've seen any videos on your channel with actual cuts (on pool noodles or tatami) that would be consistent with kihon nukitsuke. Do you not have that is part of your practice?
Weird - there should be some vids of me cutting here. But this video was made last year - I need to update it. Also this video was showing basics leaning more for seitei Iaido way of Nukitsuke if that make sense? And the vid also meant to target the pure beginners....then again I need to update these old videos
Still practicing🔥🦾
🙏🙇♂️great progress already 😁
I predicted 1/10
