As Russia's war with Ukraine continues, China is taking advantage of Russia's situation in several ways - including to settle old grievances in Siberia.
Now, Putin is having to give major concessions to Xi Jinping as the Sino-Russian relationship shows more cracks than either nation is willing to admit on the surface.
We talk about everything from Ukraine to Outer Manchuria, and why the future of Russia is threatened more and more with each passing day that the War in Ukraine continues.

if it happens the west will end up aiding Russia for the same reason we aided the COMMUNIST soviet union (who was our biggest enemy on earth) when the Nazi's invaded them. The same reason France and Britain aided Turkey against Tsarist Russia in the Crimea. Its not about who you like, its about keeping a balance of powers and denying gains to powerful enemies.

Ultimately that bit of land is nothing really, and importantly we don't know the reasoning. Ultimately the land the part of Eastern Ukraine that Russia will capture is far more substantial, logistically, as an industrial base and possibly greater control of the Black sea. He said China was buying up a lot of wood. They would buy a timber sale and sell the Russians modern logging equipment. The trouble was the Chinese would strip everything off the land. Then, they would charge a huge markup on parts for the equipment used to buy the sales. Or, not sell the Russians replacement parts at all leaving the Russians holding the back on stripped land.

This is sometimes difficult to catch when making dozens of animations for one video - especially when outside animators help with those. It’s not because I think Crimea is part of Russia. It’s because extra work needs to be done every time an animation of Russia is created to remove it, and that step can be missed.

Well, if China is going to make this move, it will have to make it relatively soon due to their own demographics due to the "one child" policy from 1980-2016. That caused a serious shortage of young Chinese men and an aging population. No matter what policy a government may choose, it still takes 18 years to make an 18 year old man while every year more men reach retirement age. Every year China delays, the weaker its armed forces become. So if your premise is correct, it will have to happen soon. Russia is at the lowest strength it has been in decades and they, too, have the same demographic problem. A problem made worse by the hundreds of thousands of Russian men lost in the war with Ukraine, the massive amount of military equipment lost and a shortage of men to work in the heavy industries required to make more military equipment. Interesting times!

In a case of a war of attrition between these two, the bottlenecks that Ukraine is actually facing in terms of human resources to fight against Russian invasion because of the population differential of both country (and the willingness of more human sacrifices in the front line from Russia), will be even bigger for Russia as China may have the same willingness of human sacrifices in the front line as Russia, but with a population differential far bigger in favor of China than the one between Russia and Ukraine. And Russia will never risk a nuclear confrontation with China that would let them both wiped out, letting the USA the sole superpower in the planet..., so, any confrontation between China and Russia should be only a conventional one.

The money he has wasted on the war would have finished his northern seaport and all the housing and infrastructure necessary. Nuclear plants for power. Vehicles and highways for transport of timber and ore for processing. It would have employed over a half million people. The same number that have been killed.

"China will not stand by as aggressors use force to destroy our rules based peace. We stand by our allies in the west!" yeah, russia is not using nukes in ukraine, since it is bordering ukraine, and radioactive smoke would reach russia too.
that is 1 reason, and reason number 2 is russia is not being invaded by ukraine, to use nukes on ukraine.
      “If China just took Siberia”
yeah, just took, it’s actually that simple.
relations with west and china would not improve in that case, since china would become behemoth with 1.4 billion people, and with the landmass around 22 million square kilometers.
that would be larger than united states and europe combined. it would be even bigger competitor and threat in that case, since china would then not only have much larger landmass, but much more resurces, and access to arctic sea.
china taking over siberia is much bigger fear of the west than russia itself.

Give it a few months and they'll start to run completely empty of artillery systems, tanks, apcs, ifvs, etc. That's assuming they make it to that point before the catastrophic casualties Russian personnel experience does not lead to a collapse of the front. Not so fast...Russians are really building-up their military industry to produce more than they are losing in the front-line by transforming their economy in an economy of war...which, is true, it is also undermining all their future economy.
So, an economy collapse must be more likely than a military collapse. And, it is true, China is awaiting that this happens to take back these Russian Far East lands...
But for that, Russia may reach a point of strength as low as was the one of China in 1858, after losing the opium war with western nations...losing a war with western nations...any one see the parallel?
For that happens, we have to give to Ukraine far more than what we have given until now, in fact we have to give them what we gave to the USSR to fight Nazi Germany in the WWII, comparatively, no less!
