I think the only point that holds this theory back is that Moffat said Anitas character actually had a much shorter role in JTTW and wasnt that significant to the plot in the first drafts, and it was only after seeing the performance of Steph that they increased the size of her role. JTTW was written whilst RTD was working on Season 2 and if Anitas role was much shorter then its likely there wasnt any plan to have any connection to Mrs Flood which RTD likely woukd have already been planning out seperate from Moffat

I think you’re spot on! She knew that the doctor had a fixation with police boxes but when she saw one on the pavement in ‘church on ruby road’ she didn’t make the connection with the doctor until she saw it dematerialise.
I would much rather she is not, mainly because I deeply want her as played by Steph de Whalley to return as a companion in the future. Such a lovely performance and such a sweet scene. I would like it though if she does end up being Mrs. Flood as even though I want Russell to make her something new, a part of me fully expects him to make her one of the guardians of some other obscure thing from classic who.

I've got an even more 'out there' theory, encompassing All of Ncuti Gatwa's incarnation . . . Everything that's happened so far, and in the upcoming season 2, is taking place on War World! Could be why everything feels like it's a movie or TV show, to all the little glitches and 'Matrix' style events; they all seem to fit. It might even explain why there are no Classic Who villains such as the Daleks or Cybermen, and the TARDIS has been manipulated so that it is only travelling between the various Zones on the War Planet. The World War 1 Zone was so authentic at the time it managed to fool the Second Doctor, so who's to say one or more of the Pantheon of Gods (or indeed the Timelords) hasn't set up The Doctor again? It'd be difficult to pinpoint exactly when The Doctor was transferred to the War World, but if I were to have a rough guess, I'd say possibly either at the end of 'The Star Beast' (Things started to get a little bit weird after that) or after 'The Giggle'.
The problem with this is, Mrs. Flood doesn't know what the TARDIS is when it's parked outside her house in The Church on Ruby Road. She also looks utterly shocked when the TARDIS dematerialises later in that episode. So if you're right, none of this really makes sense.
She might not have known that it was a TARDIS at the time that the Doctor had one and all that. She just saw little police box figurines. She might have seen the doctor in between her not knowing and saying “never seen a TARDIS before?” Because she definitely learned either what one was or that that was actually one at some point in those few episodes off screen. I mean to be fair it’s the only police box TARDIS as well that we know of.
To be fair, even if someone did know what a Tardis is, they most likely would still be shocked if it dematerialized in front of them. I'm not saying i agree with the theory. But the scene where she drops her bags, has always fascinated me, cause to me that's her seeing something she hasn't in a long long time. Like even the Doctor would be a bit taken back if he saw a Tardis land right in front of him. Who was Mr Flood? If she meets him in the time hotel before meeting the doctor, what does that say? Of course, the manager she meant offering he a new post. To could be her an older version of herself, they sort of look like. On the other side of the doorway, it is possible Miss Flood could actually be the manager or critical owner of the time hotel? The other option is the flats Ruby and her stepmother live is part of the time hotel. Remember how the tardis reattached to the building. There's is strong possibility the whole building that's the hotel works it could be Gallifrian in origin a vastly improved tardis, recall the mystery doors and how the rooms were working very similar to how tardis would work. And it is huge. Larger on the inside and the centre of the hotel had a look of a console that tree like bulbs? Every door was an entrance to different earas in time. This was something we missed. A time machine is vastly powerful and needs a power supply or a time lord to work it. There are other races that dappled with time, similar to Gallifrians. Some were older than Time Lords. Some are from alternative realities, and some have stolen the knowledge from Gallifrey. Have a guess? But I like the idea of what you said. It needs a tweak in revealing the hotels owner name?

The only flaw I can see in the theory is this: remember in either Legend of Ruby Sunday or Empire of Death when Mrs. Flood was with Cherry and she said something to the effect of: “Whatever God you believe in and I will make him suffer,” or something along those lines, it makes me think that Mrs. Flood is more than human or possibly even another Time Lord/Lady whom we haven’t previously met.
well thats how rtd writes, a lot of his surprise reveals werent planned until the last minute. He tends to start things without knowing where they are going and does not plan series arcs life moffat does. So it would not surprise me if this ends up happening when he stumbles across the theory
I’m not sure how Anita, even with access to the Time Hotel, could be one to “storm his (presumably God’s) gates of gold and seize his kingdom in my true name” as she says to Cherry in “Empire of Death”, but, then, that might have been a throwaway line. Seems odd, though.
Actually I don't think we can necessarily assume a god is immune to Sutekh's gift of death. Even the Toymaker said he ran from he who waits. Personally I don't buy it. I reckon the character was named Anita precisely to stir-up these theories.
Without watching the video i can tell you you are wrong. Moffat literally wrote that character off the cuff and they said as much in the behind the scenes. She wasnt planned to be more than a small cameo. So why would she be flood?
There are two options what that means. 1. The door just leads to the LOTR themed hotel. Or 2. LOTR is set kn the same universe. Remember, LOTR is set in our world before the 7th age. Its not a mythological world, its our world

If it's the case then it would be a really interesting paradox for Anita to be put on a journey to become Mrs Flood, who would then guide Ruby into joining the Doctor, only for her to leave him wear he then goes to the time hotel and meets Anita in a hotel room. Personally, I'm not a fan. What made Anita so likeable was how down to earth she was. If she was to return, I'd rather it be her original actress instead of Anita Dobson. Also I just don't really care for Mrs Flood, mostly because she hasn't done anything substantial and has to break the fourth wall to tell us she's supposed to be important, actions speak louder than words IMO.
@mrdr0161 My problem isn't not knowing who she is, my problem is she isn't doing anything outside of the fourth wall breaks, there's no action/plan we can try to guess the ultimate result of, nothing changes in the story if she was cut. I don't care who she will be because she's not doing anything now.

Like I said, if they just revealed what her plans are last series then that could ruin something that could've been a massive twist next series. That's how long arcs work. For example, look 11's era. In series 5, there was constant mentions of 'Silence' but we had no idea what that meant until series 6. And even the phrase 'Silence will fall' wasn't explained until Time of the Doctor, over 3 years since the first mention.
@mrdr0161 I'm not asking for the answers, I'm asking for clues and actions that aren't explained straight away but will make sense in hindsight, then it's a compelling mystery to figure out once the answer is revealed and a necessary addition to the story, her fourth wall breaks aren't clues because they are disconnected from the narrative and are just sign points telling the audience they should care but not giving a reason why. As is Mrs Flood is just a nosy neighbour who says weird stuff, if she ends up being the Rani planning to rule the world or something like that, how does sitting in a lawn chair next door to Ruby help to put that in motion? An example of a potential action could be have her motivating Ruby and the Doctor to travel together, that would at least being something, cause we can speculate her motivation, is it good or bad, but she doesn't, so currently she is no-one doing nothing, who'd should be cut to let better parts of these already rushed episodes breathe. I'm more concerned about the How's and Why's over the What's and Who's.

Even without the fourth wall break, that clearly shows she knows something about the Doctor and the TARDIS, otherwise why she wish Ruby luck? And the weird things she's says are important. What are her plans? And if she knows who Sutekh is and knows he's been on the TARDIS all along, why was she sad to die but didn't help the doctor? She clearly didn't know the Doctor would reverse it all because she was so sad to die and so happy to be alive again. She would clearly rather die than give up her identity and plans to the Doctor. But why? And why is she complimenting and praising him? And why is she now leaving her house in London? Why has she so many stickers and postcards of place in the universe and why is she cosplaying as the Doctor's companions? I don't know what more you want. Her scenes are setting the mystery up great.

well thats how rtd writes, a lot of his surprise reveals werent planned until the last minute. He tends to start things without knowing where they are going and does not plan series arcs life moffat does. So it would not surprise me if this ends up happening when he stumbles across the theory

I’m not sure how Anita, even with access to the Time Hotel, could be one to “storm his (presumably God’s) gates of gold and seize his kingdom in my true name” as she says to Cherry in “Empire of Death”, but, then, that might have been a throwaway line. Seems odd, though.
Anita was the best bit of the Christmas special, especially as the trailers ruined it showing the majority of action.

Actually I don't think we can necessarily assume a god is immune to Sutekh's gift of death. Even the Toymaker said he ran from he who waits. Personally I don't buy it. I reckon the character was named Anita precisely to stir-up these theories.
Mrs Flood is a regular old woman. She's only "special" because we think she is. Lol. That's a Ruby's mom callback just in case.

Without watching the video i can tell you you are wrong. Moffat literally wrote that character off the cuff and they said as much in the behind the scenes. She wasnt planned to be more than a small cameo. So why would she be flood?

This is really good theory!! If it's the case then it would be a really interesting paradox for Anita to be put on a journey to become Mrs Flood, who would then guide Ruby into joining the Doctor, only for her to leave him wear he then goes to the time hotel and meets Anita in a hotel room. It's not Doctor Who without a wibbly wobbly reveal.
I was thinking she may of been River song or a relation because well flood yknow? And like the drs the timeless child and gave up her energy to him and since they have infinite regs then River gave up NOTHING. So perhaps the bright light she died in was her regen and then the dr uploaded specifically that form of River and obviously river would know full well that he needed to believe she is dead dead. Ik its a wild one but cmon flood, with a husband, turns up everywhere, knows the drs end and everything about him and she said box of tricks(something amy said a lotttt) wished ruby luck, winked at us (seems very river does it not?) and said he waits no more, “no more” is a very very very specific words which only Rose, Clara and River would understand and she’s clearly not rose or clara and the white coat miss flood wore looks like one of rivers outfits to, look up river song white outfit to see what i mean.

Personally, I'm not a fan. What made Anita so likeable was how down to earth she was. If she was to return, I'd rather it be her original actress instead of Anita Dobson. Also I just don't really care for Mrs Flood, mostly because she hasn't done anything substantial and has to break the fourth wall to tell us she's supposed to be important, actions speak louder than words IMO.
That's how storyline work. It builds up. It would really ruin the mystery of her if she just revealed what she can do in her first episode
@mrdr0161 My problem isn't not knowing who she is, my problem is she isn't doing anything outside of the fourth wall breaks, there's no action/plan we can try to guess the ultimate result of, nothing changes in the story if she was cut. I don't care who she will be because she's not doing anything now.
@@mrdoctorgilmore yes, because that stuff adds to the mystery. We find out her plans, what she's capable of the same time as the Doctor does. Like I said, if they just revealed what her plans are last series then that could ruin something that could've been a massive twist next series. That's how long arcs work.
For example, look 11's era. In series 5, there was constant mentions of 'Silence' but we had no idea what that meant until series 6. And even the phrase 'Silence will fall' wasn't explained until Time of the Doctor, over 3 years since the first mention.
@mrdr0161 I'm not asking for the answers, I'm asking for clues and actions that aren't explained straight away but will make sense in hindsight, then it's a compelling mystery to figure out once the answer is revealed and a necessary addition to the story, her fourth wall breaks aren't clues because they are disconnected from the narrative and are just sign points telling the audience they should care but not giving a reason why. As is Mrs Flood is just a nosy neighbour who says weird stuff, if she ends up being the Rani planning to rule the world or something like that, how does sitting in a lawn chair next door to Ruby help to put that in motion? An example of a potential action could be have her motivating Ruby and the Doctor to travel together, that would at least being something, cause we can speculate her motivation, is it good or bad, but she doesn't, so currently she is no-one doing nothing, who'd should be cut to let better parts of these already rushed episodes breathe. I'm more concerned about the How's and Why's over the What's and Who's.
@@mrdoctorgilmore Mrs Flood was the one who told Ruby that the Doctor was in the TARDIS and wished her luck. Even without the fourth wall break, that clearly shows she knows something about the Doctor and the TARDIS, otherwise why she wish Ruby luck?
And the weird things she's says are important. What are her plans? And if she knows who Sutekh is and knows he's been on the TARDIS all along, why was she sad to die but didn't help the doctor? She clearly didn't know the Doctor would reverse it all because she was so sad to die and so happy to be alive again. She would clearly rather die than give up her identity and plans to the Doctor. But why? And why is she complimenting and praising him? And why is she now leaving her house in London? Why has she so many stickers and postcards of place in the universe and why is she cosplaying as the Doctor's companions? I don't know what more you want. Her scenes are setting the mystery up great.
