U know the cpu a beast when your ssd worth more than your cpu
You could probably find a SSD for like $1 off of ebay. Probably wouldn't be very good at all but at least it would be worth less than the cpu. Or maybe you could win a high-end CPU and just use a normal ssd. In that case the SSD would cost more as well.
you are a living legend , that really helped me a lot thanks bro for your effort
You're welcome! I am glad I was able to help. Also thank you for the complement! 🙂
Found One Of These While Salvaging Internal Components Of A I Mac Found On The Street.
That's awesome! Which was it? The i5 2400? Or the "s" model of it? Also thanks for being here! :P
Watching this on an i5-2400 with a GTX 1070. still love this PC
That is awesome! Do you play any games? Also how is your day going?
@@digitaljon1109 My day is going great, thanks for asking! I play CSGO, Fortnite, GTA V and many more! My main PC has an i7-6700 with a GTX 980 Ti but I’m getting a new PC soon
@@bentechyt9052 I like the GTX 980 Ti! I Don't own one, but it would be fun to mess with!
Also, do you think you will stick a i7 2600 or something in your i5 2400 PC?
@@digitaljon1109 Probably, the i5-2400 is definitely showing its age, and i7-2600s are very inexpensive, so I will probably get one soon
@@bentechyt9052 Also, you want to check for Xeon's too. They normally support most motherboards. You often can find 4 core, 8 thread Xeon's for about 1/2 the price of the i7's.
If you wanted to look on the used market for them, here is a website I recommend taking a look at, they have a list of all the CPU's for socket LGA 1155.
www.cpu-list.com/lga1155-cpu-list/eng/
I also recommend looking for something like a Xeon 1245, as they are 4 core, 8 thread, and can be found for about $20 USD. For example, the i7 2700, a similar speed CPU is $40. Double the price.
I am watching this video because I bought a computer with the core i5 2400s Greetings from Mexico :)
Thanks! Also all of my neighbors are from Mexico! It's great! I need to learn Spanish. I am in southern California!
How do you like it down there? ;p
Guess you don't have the motherboard available anymore for testing ?
Would be interesting too see the 3770k on there & maybe 2x8 gb ram sticks instead of 4x4 gb too see if there is any general performance difference there for hyperthreading going proper dual channel.
Been enjoying my Ryzen 5600 swap from the I5 2500k at 4.5 ghz here.
I mostly run fps limiters too reduce power usage & via ryzen master for webbrowsing run the 5600 at 2 ghz which is more then enough actually for some games as well like left 4 dead 2, killingfloor 2 on lighter maps etc...
That is a quite big upgrade you got! Also I have the motherboard, but I live at 2 houses. And I wasn't going to be back at the house with the motherboard before the video would be posted.
I have an i5 2400 and based on the performance, it would make a decent conductor for all the other components like the GPU, RAM etc but it'd definitely be better to work with a better cpu.
The best thing to do would just be putting in a old Xeon or a i7 with four cores and eight threads. You can get them pretty cheap.
If you want to keep your same motherboard I would recommend the i7 3770 or i7 3770k.
I pulled a i5 2400 processer from a printer of all things! It belonged to a Bizhub PRESS C1070 from around 2011 which was being junked, hopefully I'll get myself a board to mess around with it
I think you will enjoy messing with it! A printer?? I didn't know they had CPU's in them. I want to tear apart old printers now! (:
Right? Mind blown 🤯
thank you man, I love u
Thank you Ivan! (:
Theres alot of prebuilds thst only support up to midrange i5s like this one. Nice to see its alive atleast 😂
Wow! I never seen a LGA 1155 motherboard that didn't at least support the i7 3770. That is sort of disappointing.
@@digitaljon1109 well acer made there own bios locking it down.. i tried 3770 and 3570 but no.
@@martinlinden4129 Awwwwwwww! That is no fun at all!!!
im using a i5 2400 with a gtx 1050, 1TB SSD and i use a custom iso named foxos by the fox tweaking community (disables most non needed windows apps and over processes,) i get average 140 fps on fortnite in br. I use stretched resolution and 918 x 640 on a dell 120 hz 27 inch monitor, I would honestly upgrade as it is very slow and isnt very good at multitasking, Im thinking of upgrading to a prebuilt of currys uk that is a ryzen 5 3500 and a rtx 3060 in the next couple years via saving up. then i'd probably import my ssd from my current pc into there.
edit: also 8 gigs ram too
I highly recommend building your own computer, as it really isn't that hard. If you would need help with that, just ask and I will try to help. As it is much cheaper to build it your self, than to buy a pre-build.
Also, have you considered putting a i7 3770 or a Xeon E3-1245 v2 in your motherboard? I ask a that Xeon E3-1245 V2 is about $25, and is quite a bit faster than your i5 2400.
Just make sure your motherboard is compatible with that CPU. If you don't know how to check, just let me know what motherboard you have, and I can check for you.
Hey bro,,im watching this video cause one of homies does have one i5 2400, should i take it for valorant? Pls suggest me if possible,,will be greatful
Yes! It will run great! Sorry for the late reply.
can i ask if what windows can they run both of them?
hi is gtx 1660 super good in i5-2400
i can play fortnite and valorant and more with high fps?
with 12 gb ram
I would say that is a good pairing. Yes the graphics card won't be maxed out most of the time, but games are becoming more intensive anyway graphically so it will be good having something more powerful like that. Plus you can always upgrade to an i7 later down the line if you need to. So I would say it is a good pairing. If you can get 16 GB of RAM that would be even better but 12 GB will do.
What frame rate do you want in fortnite? And are you going to be trying to play cyberpunk?
@@digitaljon1109 i want to play with 120 fps+ and cyberpunk idk maybe i will in future
@@digitaljon1109 okiiiy
Watching this cuz this cpu is on Facebook marketplace for $5 Australian...
$5 Is a nice price! I would pick one up for that price.
Sir, could i install Windows 10 on a 2nd Gen Intel Core Processor? Have you encountered any driver issues? Thanks in Advance, I'm Still on W7 with GTX560M 😅
Yes! Windows 10 will work great! Even 1st generation Intel will work good with Windows 10.
Now, Windows 11 is different.. Even some modern computers "can't" run it. But it can be fixed by modifying the install files. The CPU can run Windows 11 smoothly, but Windows 11 will just not install on it normally, due to the lack of secure boot, and TPM.
I have the i5 2400 but all my proccessor games like fortnite csgo and valorant are low on fps ublike yours with gtx 770 event on lowest settings
I just brought i5 2500s rathen than i5 2500 because of the watt it use and also i only use stock intel cooler and as far as i know the s is more cooler than non s. Also i pairing it with a rx580 i know its non logical pairing but i got that gpu cheap from my friend like he sell it just about 30 buck soo yeah😂
That sounds like a nice set up! With the stock cooler, on that socket, the stock cooler will even cool an i7 3770. So you don't need to worry about the cooler not being enough. But it does save power in the long run having the i5 2400S. (:
How do you like your set up?
Xeon e3 1240v2 will be better than i5 2400?
Yup! That Xeon is a lot better as far as I can tell!
I just want to say I have a i5 2400 and I run my game at 120 hz with a gtx 2060 and I never have problems or lags, I think I just depends on your all around PC part s little more that hold it up In shape
Okay, so, when you say 120 "HZ", are you talking about your monitor? Or are you talking about the frames per second the game is getting?
Also, what games are you playing? Also, are you sure you don't have a i5 12400?
@@digitaljon1109 my games are getting 120 fps, that's the reason I got a 120 hz monitor I didn't even expect for my stuff too run very Good
@@MichaelJacksonfan627 Nice! What games do you play?
@@MichaelJacksonfan627 u couldnt run warzone in above 35 fps with i5 2400 even in other games it would struggle

Your opinion on my humble rig, I have a GTX 1060 and i5 2400 and 8 gig ram been using it for flash animation and Photoshop my games are L4D2 and warface, and used it for almost 8 years.
Plan of changing my mobo asus p8p67 le, any suggestions? tnx
I think you have a quite nice computer! I do suggest trying to get your hands on a 4 core 8 thread Xeon that fits LGA 1155, or maybe a 4 core 8 thread i7. As 8 threads will likely help, if not now, it will help in the future.
Here is a link to where you can see all the CPU's for the socket LGA 1155: www.cpu-list.com/lga1155-cpu-list/eng/
Also 8 GB of DDR3 RAM isn't that much. Upgrading it to 16 GB might help, but it depends how much you are using of the 8 GB currently, and willing to spend on upgrades.
@@digitaljon1109 wow thanks for the info
@@captjerski4165 Thanks! (:
no i have an i5 2450h in my PC and its garbage. cant even have 2 applications open for lowest settings. i have 16gb ram and a 1650 and I have issues with performance.
Would this make a good difference compared to an i3 2100 with a gtx 750 because i have a dell and it doesnt support the i7 or xeon
It would help a decent amount, but I wouldn't really bother upgrading over it, unless you can find one for like $5.
I saw a guy selling this cpu (only processor) for 5£. Should I buy it or is this the actual price of this processor?
It depends on which one, as I showed 2 in the video.
I am unsure how much it sells for there. But here, you can get a i5 2400 off eBay for $5-6 USD. And a i5 2400S for $6-7 USD.
I have i5 2400 and a gtx 750 ti and i want to upgrade to gtx 1660 or 1650ti but i would ask if there is a bottleneck if i change the graphics card?
幾乎只能720p。
yes,gtx750ti幾乎只能720p ,update can get more 1080p fps
Could you redo this with an i7 for comparison?
Yes, in the future I will. I own an i7 3770K.
I recently did a video testing a Intel Xeon E3 1230. It's 8 threads like the i7, but a bit slower. It's similar to the i5 3570.
Which is the best gpu for i5 2400? Without any bottleneck
Well, you will always have a bottleneck in any computer no matter what. But I would say, for 1080P gaming, I would go with a Nvidia GTX 970, or a AMD RX 570. Both of those GPU's will not be maxed out for the most part when the CPU is maxed out.
But that is good, as you are at least getting the best performance possible out of that computer, and you don't need to limit settings much, so the game will still look nice.
@@digitaljon1109This is my current setup as my other build was stolen. Now I just need to get an SSD and 32GB RAM then I'll be fine for a while.
Great video buy the way
I got an Rx 570 and i5 2400, my GTA5 looks better...
on my 150 buck PS3 from 2013 was it😂❤
Is a i5 2400 usable for an inexpensive music production PC?
I don't know anything about music production, but I would say it should do just fine. Is music production pretty hard to do for a computer?
@@digitaljon1109 Thanks. Yeah, it's pretty computer intensive.
@@johnstrange6799 Hmmm, you might want to opt for a i7 3770, or a Xeon
E3-1260L. The Xeon is cheaper, but it is in between the i5, and the i7. And it will work in most LGA 1155 motherboards.
@@digitaljon1109 I did end in fact end up going with an i7 and 32gb of ram.
@@johnstrange6799 That is a pretty awesome PC! Even if it is old. (:
I installed 16gb 2 dual channel but pc only recognizes 8gb, help!
This may sound silly, but take the RAM out, and put it back in. If that doesn't work, only put the new stick of RAM in, and put it in the slot where the old stick is, and keep the old stick out, then see if it works.
If it still doesn't work, then your new RAM stick is bad. If it does work, take the new one out, and try it in every other RAM slot in your motherboard to see if it works in all the slots. If not, you may have something wrong with your CPU, or motherboard.
If it works in all the slots, but just 1 old RAM stick, and 1 new one don't work together, it is just some weird compatibility thing.
why 1440p not 1080p?
Why did I test 1440P? Likely I paired it with a higher end GPU, like my RTX 3060, and it won't make a difference if I go with 720P, 1080P, or 1440P.
i have one of these, its able to run most except rust,
Yup!
I am able to run run rust on 100fps on a intel I5 2400
What is the suitable gpu pairing for this cpu?
Hmmm, maybe a AMD RX 570 (or 580), or a Nvidia GTX 960, GTX 1050/1050Ti, or a GTX 1650.
All of those have similar performance, and will get every bit of performance out of this CPU at 1080P in almost any game.

Nope! I record all of my videos with a capture card. Meaning I am not recording on the computer I am testing, which prevents any performance loss. Instead the computer is being recorded from a separate computer.
The only exceptions may be using OBS (my screen recording software) to record the specs of the computer if I forget to. Or if I am testing OBS in the video. But when I am benchmarking the computer in games, I will not have OBS open. If I do, I will mention it. (:
i got this cpu for free, would it even be worth it to buy a motherboard and make a pc? or is it complete trash in 2023 xD
I am not sure if it is worth it or not. Do you have a use for the PC? Or do you plan on selling it? If you plan on selling it, it might not be worth it, as parts tend to not be that cheap. So you would make little to no profit.
But this CPU is decent in 2023/4. So I would say, if you have a use for it, go ahead. It is a fun project.
