If you are going to protest you need to accept consequences, there’s no point protesting if you’re not willing to take the consequences. Muhammad Ali protested by refusing to fight in the Vietnam war; his belt was stripped and fines etc. but he stuck by his beliefs! People need to be willing to sacrifice if they want to protest against or for something, otherwise it’s just a fashion statement or meaningless gesture imo. Basically prorest ir don’t protest but don’t be wishy washy about it

And I never said that there was no reason at all to change the host in the first place but like I said they had 12 years to do something about it. The stick to football line doesn't work. Politics affects everything. Russia is currently banned, do you agree with this? South Africa was banned while under apartied rule, did you agree with this? In 1974 Arab nations refused to play Israel, do you agree with this? Germany was banned from football for 5 years after World War 2. The list goes on.
As you can see football has always been political. People say it hasnt but it has. That can't and shouldn't change. Footballs popularity make it a good reflection of society and some of the potential areas we need to work on and therefore makes it a massive voice for change, especially as it is the biggest sport with roughly 3.5 billion fans worldwide.

Roy totally right.. I fulliishly believed many footballers would do the right thing and refuse to play in protest .. how wrong was I... Football has unfortunately sold it's soul to the devil. I actually can't even comprehend what it must feel like to be in these stadiums knowing the blood shed... Our values are deminishing and a threat to society. Very disappointing.

You're thousands of kilometers away from qatar behind your phone screen making discriminating assumptions like that. You probably watch bbc and believe everything they say. Qatar is hosting a great world cup. There's no discrimination, great hospitality, beautiful sharing of cultures and all in all just a beautiful vibe. But bots like you surround themselves on some stupid media and believe everything 1 to 1. State the positive instead the very, less negatives. I guess you're the one selling his soul to the devil, making unjust aasumptions like that. Gay people still live and exist in Qatar, they just dont publicize it, just like heterosexual acts are forbidden to showcase in public. Its not only your anal lalaland having restrictions, its the countries law to not publicize obscenity for every sexual orientation, period. Dont be such a hypocrite and inform yourself the right ways, you conceited pessimist.

@@ryantarrant1982 half the population of Northern Ireland will tell you they think wearing poppies is a political statement. FIFA think it’s political which is why they banned it. The original poppy was never political but over the years it’s been hijacked by successive governments to glorify and sell war. Collecting pennies on the street for ex soldiers who, in my opinion, should have all the money they need from Government, not charity. Imagine the political reaction if the leader of the opposition, for example, didn’t wear a poppy on 11 Nov.
