Okay that's your taste, and that's great! Personally I love the rough and unpolishness of the concrete. Marble would have been very expensive because it's a very large surface!
I often feel this way, but then I am in cold, wet England. When I visit hot countries, the cold hard stone and concrete is often a blessed relief from the heat.
Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. But a fabulous way to lord it over the many poor and struggling of Mexico and catch a great view of the smog, full points for that I guess.
And some struggle and succeed. And that is somehow wrong or unjust? We live in a reality where struggle and aggression are far more apparent than some imaginary Eden of perfection. Maturity of humanity requires that we recognise and adapt to that reality. Jung said somewhere that neuroticism is a failure to adapt to reality. Escape, for that is what it is, into various idealisms is a disaster for us all. Adaption to reality could save us all. Let those who succeed in such adaptation be a beacon for us all. The material achievement of a beautiful house integrated into its landscape is a literal adaptive success.
Martin Cook Some struggle and succeed, others reach the top of the shit pile by exploitation or at the least turning their backs on the plight of the workers. Beacon my arse.
@@DR-nh6oo What is and what we individually judge as what ought to be are separate. It is all too human to stand apart and judge. It is easy to give free reign to the mind. The mind can effortlessly do whatever it wants. It costs it nothing to separate entirely from limited reality. Adaptation on the physical level to that reality is difficult and costly. And we often fail. We aren't talking about forced labour or slavery are we? We need collectively and individually to reconcile to what is. Exploiting the workers? I don't know, but creating jobs and a market place to help distribute food et al isn't a terrible thing and his success is self evident. It doesn't stop you trying to do better does it?

As with all architects, he's clueless about how to design spaces for humans to live & work. His projects are however sculptural in nature. He probably should have been a fine artist and NOT an architect.
Okay it's true that his houses are sculptural works of art, but most of his houses are actual very comfportable to live in. I never been inside the Arango house so I can't give my opinion about the living standards of that house, but because the house is build in a place where its always nice weather, it feels like sitting on a beach under the shadow of the sun shield. Through the thickness of the concrete, the sleeping quarters below are very cool. So I guess it's pretty comfortable.

It's stands tall for almost 50 years now. This week there was a hurricane in Acapulco and even it survived even the hurricane.
❤❤❤️
Nice house.
Did Tony Stark live here?
No, but Tony Stark did live in a house that was inspired by another John Lautner home: ''The Beyer House''.
Its great but not a masterpiece. To make it a masterpiece he could have covered up the concrete with marble. Fin
Okay that's your taste, and that's great! Personally I love the rough and unpolishness of the concrete. Marble would have been very expensive because it's a very large surface!
What's up with the crappy sax player?
That home seems a bit cold, hard and sterile !
I often feel this way, but then I am in cold, wet England.
When I visit hot countries, the cold hard stone and concrete is often a blessed relief from the heat.
This is better then these fking square houses
Fan- freaking- tactic
I wonder how many times he had to say, "Jeroninmo with a J, not a G..."
Yes, the ''J'' in Spanish is pronounced as a ''G'' . But its confusing for non Spanish speakers.
Martin Cook I cannot assume; nor disagree entirely.
@@DR-nh6oo martin cook s words sound fair and measured. DR not trying to be smart but you sound like a hug is in order.
Egzibicionizam.
Many thanks for this channel. It definitely had to be done. Nice job.
Not exactly what I think about that dumbass who decided to place a railing on an already perfect (= virtually untouchable) staircase. Argh!
Great that you like the videos. This stimulates me to make more content. The railing on the staircase is indeed a waste, but it was done for safety reasons. Stay tuned, a video about the Case Study house 22 will be uploaded today.
I know that it was intended for safety reasons. The only possible ones. Yet, it's not justifiable. Silly and criminal. You don't just "put things" on an art masterpiece. Let's hope the pool bridges won't get the same treatment...
Case Study? I will certainly tune in! Thanks 🙂
Needs a power wash.
Is diferent but is not functional, not thanks
It is a bit weird to see myself swimming in the Arango pool. Sorry, you can't use these photo's without permission. Please get in contact with us and we will figure something out.
Okay my apologies, I just responded on the message on my youtube page. Lets stay in touch with each other.
Can you prove it?
@@karroketo Prove what?
@@Krook71 … that it’s really you 🙂
@@aeropilot4419 I (Tycho Saariste) am the author of the book Lautner A-Z which I wrote together with Jan-Richard Kikkert, who took those pictures when we visited the house on August 10 2010. You can read the full story in our book. I am glad to send you more proof after you have bought our book 🙂
No children allowed....haha
Ugh.
So I guess it's pretty comfortable.
watching these videos i have been struck by how warm and homey they seem. including the arrango house. i can imagine myself sitting reading a book and watching the light change on the ocean.
He was both.
@TyroneShoelace: So, according to you, “all architects are clueless about how to design spaces for humans to live and work” ? Damn. You must be some supernatural savant to be able to formulate that finely nuanced judgement. Thank you for allowing us to receive your wisdom.
i'd be very happy living in any Lautner sculpture🙃
Beyond horrible. Yeccccchhh!
Okay that's you taste.... I love it! :)
You would prefer a cabin like in a Kincaid fantasy painting, no doubt....
Please hire a narrator for English.
i have no trouble understanding the narrator and his accent
Thank you!
I'm Dutch, English is not my first language. But I practise on it.... .. please be kind :)
I love his accent, its like fine corinthian leather.
@sputnick94115. Can you post a link to all the amazing videos you have created in a language that is not your native one? We would like to see how a true master like you does it.
Thanks for making this video🩷🩷
That's really helpful to me💗
