    Considering he is not a horsy guy, I think Bradley did really well. He is obviously used to Torento, who is reputably energetic. The fact that he stayed so relaxed shows us how well the horse and rider know eachother. It was nice to see all the people on set respecting the horses. I know Bradley pulled the reins a bit but it was most likely just to get the horse to calm down, once he realised what mood the horse was in he walked him around a little to calm him down and relax him. I love that horse, and Bradley too of course :)

    That was the right thing to walk it round. If they have been in a stable for a long time or something - although these horses probably wouldn't have - they need a bit of a walking round at first! A beautiful bay Bradley was riding!

    I have horses of my own, and I've been competing ever since I can remember. The horse does look 'flighty' and on his toes and Bradley does deal with it in a calm manner. The horse, in my opinion, isn't misbehaving.. just fresh. Obviously he's not an experienced rider, and does move the reins a little too much, but considering.. he did pretty well.

  • @LexyMShadow
    @LexyMShadow 11 лет назад +22

    Between the sound of his horse shoes hitting the cobble stones echoing through the area, all the people around, and all the strange equipment, it's no wonder the horse was nervous. It's a lot like when you break a young colt in a solid round corral & then take him out in a show arena, that much of a change in an unusual place takes them some time to get used to.
    Bradley did well. He didn't panic & remained calm though I did see him pull the reins a couple times. Easy on the horses mouth. ;-)

    Grow up! Arthur is an actor, not a proffessonal rider. Yeah, he should know what he's doing but remeber that he doesn't ride unless acting; this was 2010- series 2/3! Horses for shows like this are very responsive and will act like that. Personally, being a rider, owning my own horse and seeing unexperienced people everyday I think Bradley did brilliantly as most people would have paniced! If your gonna analyse his riding, make sure you can say that you would have been better in his situation!!

    Some old comments are like "how did no one laugh?" and I have to say it's because it's a professional set, with an actor who was only trained in horse riding for this show, and they know that a horse can be challenging to work with if you're not experienced. It is not as simple and easy as "get on horse, start riding perfectly like a Disney character". There's a lot of language, muscle memory, and behaviors that professional horse riders know that a non-professional would simply not be able to pick up when it's for a temporary job. It's not really funny; everyone is there to do a job, and some of them are there to make sure that nothing happens to Bradley or the horse.

  • @CrisJZ1485
    @CrisJZ1485 11 лет назад +2

    My horse does this same exact prancing as my foot hits the stirrup its because he's is ready to go and get the work done the faster the job gets done the faster he can go back to eating. Bradley did very well for being a novice rider most people of would panicked and gripped tighter which with how trained this horse is that wouldn't of been a good thing, by the looks of it this horse is very responsive to the slightest touch.

  • @CunningFoxxyKitten
    @CunningFoxxyKitten 12 лет назад +6

    Some of these comments....wow...
    The horse was not nervous. That horse is a highly trained stunt horse, I very much doubt it was nervous of anything. Just a bit fresh. Ever seen a race horse stand still? No, because these horses are not used to standing still.
    Why oh why would Bradley put his heels down?! They didn't care about their heels in the 5th century! If this was a modern day drama, then yes he would put his heels down, but they didn't in those times.

    • @TrappedinSLC
      @TrappedinSLC 4 года назад +1

      Viv Taylor Keeping heels down is really a safety thing, helps reduce risk of your foot going through the stirrup. I can’t tell how much risk that is with the stirrups they were using, though. To me the horse just looked like it wanted to go somewhere already - looked quite happy when they started off walking. I bet if they’d headed off on a nice trail ride or something like that he would’ve behaved nicely. He looks like a lovely forward sort of horse.

  • @WhatOhThatErynn
    @WhatOhThatErynn 11 лет назад +23

    aw Bradley handled that well, although I was cringing when he started pulling the reins up and back instead of only back, for some horses that's a wonderful way to say "hey rear up now" at least that's the case with a few young ones I've owned/ridden lol

    • @jaylanperocho6662
      @jaylanperocho6662 7 лет назад +4

      WhatOhThatErynn It really depends on how the horse was trained. Not all horses are trained to follow the command of a voice or certain words and some are just really energetic and high strung, so they only react to physical pulling or actions :))

    It is a highly trained stunt horse, and is ready to go.
    Bradley as good as he is, could be slightly confusing him by telling him to go fowards but having reins in the wrong place meaning two different commands, he seems confused more than anything.
    To be honest...it's just one of those days...everyone has em x

    Bradley did well to stay calm, if you feel tense the horse will feel exactly the same. The rein contact maybe should have been stronger, that may have helped

  • @WhatOhThatErynn
    @WhatOhThatErynn 11 лет назад +2

    wow that horse is better behaved than mine XD to get onto my horse you either have to have multiple people hold her still or just jump on a she continues to walk away! Also whenever my mare gets impatient or won't stand still she ends up rearing :P All in all that horse was just a little antsy lol funny seeing people who are new to horses attempt to ride! Adorable XD

  • @hannahbananaroxsox
    @hannahbananaroxsox 11 лет назад +2

    You do realise they had to learn to ride for this and that many stunt horses are ridden differently to your average horse - a contact goes out of the window so things like bow and arrow, swords etc can be used and it's all about leg and seat aids. Bradley was riding exactly how I expect someone who has not ridden much before and has been told to not use too much rein to ride.

    Bradley rode several horses during the filming. Having ones heels down happened even back in those days as otherwise the riders would be leaning to far forward and would have difficulties reaching for ones sword. Also those are highly trained horses so energy levels would be high and an inexperienced rider such as Bradley may consider this kind of behavior unruly however the horse simply needs a firm remind of what it's supposed to be doing. Bradley does not do this.

    in all honesty guy horses used in film and TV production are usually very well trained and the likely hood is that Bradley, not be as well trained, is unknowingly giving the horse confusing or conflicting aids, creating a bit of confusion from the horse and causing it to try different movements in a bid to find out what he means.
