- Got a new song on the burner, a couple actually. One Im working on with Adam Wright and the other incorporates the riff from earlier in the week when I was playing my blonde doozy.
Thank you to Keith Williams! / @fivewattworld
We have something cool coming down the pike that we will chat about soon. He was kind enough to give Ron Ellis and I a shoutout on his most recent episode.
My record WEST is now up on Bandcamp, link below. I worked really hard on this one and its momentum was killed by the pandemic. check it out.

After really loving "The Lost Tapes" I had to dive into "West"...another beauty ! 😊
"Hotel pillows filling up with voices in my head and I miss you"...loved that line and pretty much describes any night I try to sleep in a hotel away from my family.
I feel that mate :)
So sad, but so true
The first Dire Straits album is one of my all time favorite records. Probably listened to it 1000 times. Southbound, Settin Me Up, Down to the Waterline and Sultans. Just an incredible piece of art that I never get tired of. Cheers Jedd
Me too! Its incredible from start to finish. So much energy on that one
I fell in love with this album 18 months ago when I discovered Jed in the Shed. God Washed up is haunting. Hangin' for the next release Jed
Love that guitar Jedd and the story behind… plus West is becoming one of my favorites, thanks for what you do for us on this channel sir
Is there a video title and channel you can refer me to, pertaining to the story behind this guitar? If so, thank you very much in advance.
Jedd: Phenom playing as always, like your guitar tech work, virtuoso playing, great fellowship, you and uourctechcwork great friends in NV and best of the best in the music industry. The Sarah’s song “Big Blue Sky” you and Tom live accompanying you was so inspirational, what a fabulous writer she is. Those duos of those two, Tom and Sarah, in the Homeskollin early days are a special gift to us all. Those duo songs of Genesis and other groups of our era, I’m in my 60s
Loving your album West
You're such a great songwriter and performer.
The world needs more Jedd Hughes' songs.
One of my absolute favorite songwriters is Jackson Browne. You remind me of him : soulful vocals and music , lyrics with a story, authentic, you have something to say.
Keep chipping away at that big block.
Manhugs
Cheers mate! Love Jackson!!! I’ll have that Tele moving asap!
Whichever guitar you play you always get an amazing tone… man. its a gift and we are lucky that you share that with with us. Thanks
Ah mate, thank you so much
Killer new tune at the beginning Jedd...I've spent many nights trapped in CA!
"Funky Country"! Love it Jedd. Lovely new song, great to hear the creative juices are flowing again. Fair play!
Lovely tune
Nice one Jedd, beautiful acoustic phrasing, reminds me of Mr Petty and Amanda Marshall with some gorgeous harmonic overtones and lyrics to match - keep at it, it’s a beaut. Don’t think it needs a chorus, has that nice, cyclic feel to it. “Cracks tube”. Love from Costa Rica.
Thanks so much Mark!
Thought MK about 5 seconds in Jedd. Got to be one of the great debut albums. The new song you demoed at the start sounds wonderful.
West is a great album. Happy to have picked it up the moment it was released. The instrumental, "West" is haunting and beautiful. Favorites of mine include Sleepless, The Dreamer and of course Back To You and Thinking About You. West is your best work IMO.
Thank you so much!! Especially proud of that one ;)
Heel mooi!
Beautiful Jedd. Love the vibe
Thanks!
Slightly unrelated, but I listened to Thinking About You on Spotify the other day and man the solo tone was so unexpected for the song, but just worked so perfectly for it. I’d love to see you doing some producing
Love that opening song…..
Awesome
I like the vibe, subbed... (from 5 watt) I like your playing and commentary, I am sure more will follow.
Ah thanks so much for coming over! Love 5watt!
That opening piece was sooooo good! Reminds me of Neil Young’s amazing 70’s solo acoustic performances. There’s a beautiful loneliness to the song and the simple arrangement, just a guitar and a voice. That’s all it needs. When you record this, please keep it simple. I think anything more would detract from the beauty of it.
jonathan wilson vibe from this one, love it :)
Way cool Jedd! Thanks for the share!
Augh!! I can't believe I just wrote a long, ish comment here, something happened, and it all went away!! Dang it!! 8(
So I guess it's the "readers digest" version. LOL. Hi Jedd, That's cool that you met Keith Williams!! Keith, Rick Beato and I are from the same general area, and took somewhat different paths in life. I'm sure you know/know of Rick Beato. Just 2 hours ago I found out he had heart surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland Ohio. That's a very famous and reputable place, he's doing very well! I have no details yet. Just a few weeks ago Uncle Larry and GT(Trapp) did an interview with him, on his channel (that just hit 4mill subs!) about recording/mastering their new record! Rick has a recording studio in Atlanta Ga. I don't think he uses it much now. He is from Penfield NY, and a graduate of the Eastman School of Music. He was also a music professor at several collages before doing the recording thing. (he knows what all the dots on the paper mean LOL). Keith, I think went on to Syracuse University. He worked in the "admissions" dept at several collages. All while playing side gigs in jazz bands. His kids grew and left home, as did his wife 8( Now he moved back here to (I think) around Rome NY? He grows his YT channel and enjoys the people and guitars!! He has some kind of side gig working, Haven't been able to drag exactly what it is out of him yet! LOL He's been hanging with Rick, Rhett Schull, who you may know from Atlanta and a large YT channel and other musicians, like Jeff McErlain, David Barber, John Cordy, Justin Ostrander and Brian May. In fact, I was quite excited one time when I made a comment on a Brian May video, that resulted in trading ~3 short emails with Dr. May himself!! I smiled 3 days straight, one of the highlights of my life. 8) Anyway, I think it's going to be really cool, having all these guys together!! 8) Congrats mate, can't wait!! --gary
10 out of 10 today! Couple days, Mrs out of town, maybe a great time to quickly glance through those cds and lyrics? I sure would appreciate it, Jedd. As always, thank you for the terrific videos and kind correspondence. jimmy
G'day Jedd! Very cool stuff. I was working on "Southbound Again" myself the last week, not sure if it will work with my blues trio, but that tune sure is fun to play. Cheers.
Beautiful man! Thank you for sharing your gift with us!
I downloaded West months ago. I love the whole album. Animal Eyes is a great tune.
Thanks so much Mike!
Beautiful! Great words and guitar parts/riffs. Love that
Love your voice 😊 and playing also. But your voice gives me chills :)
Thank you so much!
That De Gruchy sounds epic!
Beatiful Jedd!
Really a nice song... the intro! Thanks
That’s a hit man! Beautiful! The guitar sounds GREAT recorded just like that!
It sounds very open. The sound of the guitar w/the room. Vibey in its own right.
So nice, man.
And that thing you played at the end. It immediately made me think of Crosby Stills Nash and Young. I mean that most respectably.
love the acoustic sound!
Gorgeous stuff! So glad Uncle Larry led me to your channel.
I’ve found myself on that section of Hiway 101 on few occasions where I could certainly relate to the lyrics in this tune! Truly a beautiful song. Jedd I’ve managed to pick up your offerings on Bandcamp The Lost Tapes and House of Mercy but would love to know how to find West. I really like how it moves the song along when you add the chorus hook to the end of the verse. Keith at 5 Watt world is a really great guy! Been following his UTube channel for about five years now. He and his channel have been an amazing resource for history and information on everything guitar related. I can’t wait to see what you two are up to! That intro you’re playing where you mute the bass string with the back of your palm sounds like a great new tune is on its way! Thanks for the post Jedd! Hope the weather stays great for you and your kids while your on solo kid care!
Thanks so much mate! I hear the zoo callin in the morning to burn off that morning energy! haha
I guess I saved the best for last. Excellent. Take my money, where do I buy the album?
Dig the new tune. It’s fun when songs are blooming like that, eh? What is the guitar you’re playing? Lovely tone (both of you 😉)
I am hearing space for a vocal after the D. The rhythm is like 'Anna-Linda'. Two sixteenths, two eighths. Then, on the C/G to Em, something in the rhythm of 'I'm wasting time' or 'Tell me you're mine' or 'Talmud in wine'.
West is such a great album.
The Sleepless into West combo is amazing. Care to share the tuning on those?
Lyrically, your best work, IMO.
Thank you so much Emily, Im so glad you dig that interlude, I was proud when that one came together. Its standard tuning with the G dropped to F#, I think its capo’d up a few frets and I play it out of B
@@JeddHughesOfficial Thank you, Jedd, very kind of you to share. That's the same tuning used for Animal Eyes, right? Just adding the capo.
I love it!
"Up on trial for killing time again,
What am I supposed to do when the bastard won't stay dead?"-Great line!!!
But my favorite is,
"...the price of free just keeps getting higher"- Amen...and so it goes.
Hey Jedd. Your song ‘animal eyes’ is a favourite of mine on quite a few levels. It has some really gorgeous squishy lead fills that I’m really curious as to how you dialled in the tone?
Legendary stuff as usual
‘ up on trial for killing time again, what am I supposed if that bastard won’t stay dead?’
Hi Jedd. Just wondered what the model of 65 amps is that sits in back of your room? Like others love your West album also. Was great to have Hollywood on an album at last. Cheers, Chris (NZ).
Sounds absolutely class, are you still working on the song about Donald Campbell?
Yes! Bluebird…its on the burner too!
I am new to the shed. I enjoy the easy going conversations. How do you capture a song in progress like the one you opened with? Do you keep them in your phone or to you score them to paper? Sibeleus?
Curious, Doug from San Antonio
I see now why Vince gill likes this guy.
Wondering if you might share what's on your current spin -listening list, Jedd? Are you a Thelonious Monk fan?
I'd buy that! Question: Do you do your own design work? It's good.
yes, my wife does not agree but I screenshot this and sent it to her to further my case! haha
Thanks for tuning in!
Who needs a chorus. Stairway to Heaven doesn't have a chorus.
