I love how chaotic the old special were. You had giant missile coming from the sky and had to constantly dodge killer wails

Pyroland I have numerous reasons to want it
1: it’s easy to find people that are hidden in ink
2: you could see if anyone is sneaking up on you
3: in a game like rainmaker, splatzones, or anything else, you can see if anyone is close to the objective so you can splat them
4: special combos
I remember shooting the inkzooka over walls in the middle of the map and accidentally splatting everyone

Pinkrs 220 Would sometimes be annoying. You are battling with people, then go hide behind a “indestructible” and typically Inkzookas or some snipers.
This made me realize how much more turf focused the Splatoon 2 specials are. The only non-turfing special is the ink armor, which still gives the constant footprint effect of having just stepped out of ink.
Who else realised how different the rainmaker is from each game? Remember how powerful than rainmaker was in Splatoon 1? It was insane. Absolutely insane.

@@DailyFunYT. No it isn't. The inkstrike is one of the special weapons from Splatoon 1. The rainmaker however, on a fully charged shot, can produce an inkstrike-like attack. It's much more powerful than the rainmaker in Splatoon 2.

The Kraken lived as an overrated op special and died the same way I never really liked that special I prefered inkstrike but we will definitely never forget either of them

Chuggaaconroy described the change of special weapons very well. Splatoon 1 specials were very powerful, and could turn a player into a one Squid army. While Splatoon 2 specials are more focused on assisting the team rather than racking up splats.

I love Splatoon 1, simple to understand weapons and simple to understand specials, Competitive galore. In Slatoon 2 still easy to understand but later complex enough for this to keep people engrossed in terms of weapons, and specials. Plenty of fun to be had but competitive wise, it’s not as great as Splatoon 1 but still interesting.

@@anonhuman9790 It's not, the kraken is invincible and is a one hit KO whilst the with the baller you have to hit people a few times in order to splat them and enemies can easily break the ball to stop you.

I remember making a combo with my friend where she would use mass echolocation then I’d use the seeker rush. They target people who are visible and the echo locator MADE them visible, great times...

I played Splatoon and I'm still playing Splatoon 2. And it has to be said Splatoon looks sharper and cleaner than Splatoon 2. I also miss some fantastic maps such as Flounder Heights, Museum D'Alfonsino, Hammer Head Bridge and Mahi Mahi Resort. I also miss so much the Gamepad. But I love Octo-Expansion and Salmon Run.
Splatoon was an instant Classic and will last decennies.
Bluefin Depot and Saltspray rig were defo my faves on Splatoon 1
@@alicegrievson8850 I'm still thinking that Splatoon is definetly sharper much defined, refined than it's sequel. Much beautiful,brighter, colorful. Some maps appears much clumsy and simple in Splatoon 2.
Ancho V is the perfect demonstration, it looks like a Beta version. I think the Switch is tied due to the hybrid versatility whereas WiiU is a dedicated home system.

The weapons in splatoon 1 are much cooler and unique and they have a charm to them
Nah most of the Splatoon 1 specials are pretty generic shooter specials, like just straight up an airstrike. The Splatoon 2 specials are mostly less flashy but are a bit more unique, like the Bubbler and Bubble Blower.
@Anti Yeah I guess. I do just think it's nostalgia though, I do miss a lot from Splatoon 1 but when I think of what it was like to *actually* play I realise it's just a general sense of nostalgia rather than actually wanting anything back. All of the Splatoon 3 specials seem a lot more creative and well balanced to me than either Splatoon 1 or 2, and the way they reincorporated / redesigned older specials to be a little more involved is very nice. Except missiles. Missiles suck.
@Anti I definitely think it's better to take old specials and redesign them, alongside adding new ones because we've seen very clearly why every single special being brand new is a bad idea, since some of them can end up uninteresting, unbalanced, or not actually a new special (looking at you, Bomb Launcher) at which point you're basically just doing "old specials can come back, sometimes with tweaks if they need it"

Thing is, a lot of specials from splat 2 are toned down versions of specials form splat 1. Inkstrike > Tenta Missiles. Kraken > Baller. Killer wail > Stingray. Bubble shield > Ink armor. Having every special in both games wouldn’t really work. Only special I would keep from splat 1 is echolocator. Subs would work, as they are extremely similar in splat 1 and 2. Gear I guess I would work, and the main problem with ability is with strength up, which is sub up and main up combined.

T S U K I N O No hate but kraken is the special weapon I hate the most.. however my favorites are killer wall, inkstrike and splashdown (I forgot the name omfg)
I still wonder why they couldn't have just brought back the old specials and nerfed them. All of the replacements we have are completely different things that just do underwhelming worse than the originals. The booyah bomb could've literally just been an ink strike, but they decided to change you into Goku. The only new special that I actually find unique and interesting is the bubble blower which is admittedly pretty underrated.

Mmmmmmm I see I have caught myself in a salt war. Splat2 is in general better than Splat1 (except for single player) splat2 has more modes for ranked more specials more subs a dlc and salmon run....
the specials in general aren’t really worse than splat1
Splashdown is one of the more unique ones where you can super jump and do it midair
Although your not invincible as baller you have a wider range than kraken
Bubbles is probably the more unique of them all
Ultra stamp is pretty bad
Booyah bomb is a nerfed inkstrike but supports teammates
And I’m still waiting for fizzy bomb and torpedo rush :)

I love how the shield bubble from Splatoon 1 was absolute in its defense, because the ink armor sucks.

Luke Clayton like I said it depends on how you use it. If you have all four teammates alive it can be useful. I’m not saying that I don’t miss the bubbler though. It had its pros and cons. Also within that time you could kill one other teammate and your teammates can do so as well. It can save you depending on the situation.

Something to note is that in Splatoon 1 the bomb rush was whatever sub-weapon came with your kit whereas in Splatoon 2 bomb launchers always had different bombs than your sub-weapon.

The Kraken, Inkstrike, and Killer wail are all iconic and I do miss them. However, overall I prefer the specials in 2 and think they did the right thing by making them totally new. A lot are similar, but I find the new mechanics of them interesting. Having to find a good place to blow up the baller is a cool difference from the Kraken and also makes it better for splat zones, being able to change location and move the stingray makes it more versatile than the killer wail, and the Booyah Bomb is more of a panic special than the Inkstrike. That's not to mention that the unique ones from 2 like the Bubbler and Ultra Stamp outshine the unique specials from 1 like the Echolocator, which just made Ninja squid pointless and didn't contribute all that much.

But I prefer how they work in the second

Echolocator was absolutly amazing. It was so helpful when you were a sniper or a gatling, I wish it was back in Splatoon 2, but kinda nerfed because it is too easy to activate and longs 9 seconds, that's a lot.
This brings back memories of splatoon 1 and it’s op specials god I miss them :p

As someone whos been with the series from the beginning, seeing the Triple Inkstrike and the Inkzooka return in Splatoon 3 demo made me very happy. As broken as they were, they were very fun. Now if only we get ones like Echolocation and Kraken back…..
