I am one of the Joshua developers for MXR. One thing you Majorly missed is out pedal name “Joshua” is a reference to The Joshua Tree by the band U2. We worked exclusively with The Edge and his guitar tech Dallas Shoo to recreate Edge’s signature sound. Our new chip is based on The Edge’s twin 1981 and 1982 blue series Eventide H3000’s with his original effect of “delaying the delay”. As most U2 guitar fans know the overly modest Edge does not put his name on his signature products. Next time you review an MXR product I highly suggest you do your research. More importantly, everything I just said is a load of BS. I don’t work for MXR. I don’t even have a job. I don’t need one, because I’m 52 and my mom still gives me an allowance. Gotcha. I was just “Joshing”. Who loves you, Ryan? That’s right. I do.

i didn't have any expectations for this pedal, but it seems like they have some really musically interesting functions - like just enough weirdness. the modulation particularly sounds great in the sweet spot..
I am getting whole songs referenced with just a few notes. The very first thing you played sounded like you were going to do 'Sunshine Superman' by Donovan and at around 30:20 it sounded like the opening to 'I Am A Tree' by Guided By Voices.
Hmmm, gotta check that one out. Chase Bliss does some great pedals…but I’ve been out of the pedal loop for a little while… (Read: I don’t keep up.) Google, here I come…
I'd say so, especially the modulated delay. Both the Memory Man and, I think, the Korg SDD3K, units used by Edge, had a modulation circuit for the delayed signal.
If someone needs a multi effects this is good. I am interested But sometimes it is better to have several individual pedals to get exactly what you want. A few years back i was looking for a delay pedal. So I purchased a Fender Mirror image delay, then the Boss Super Overdrive SD-1 In December 2023 I bought the Behringer SF-300 Fuzz and an Azor Tremolo pedal.
Loving this. Simple control set, some get too tricksy for their own good, you end with choice paralysis, as well as too much of a learning curve. It gets plenty weird enough for noise monkeys like myself. Lesser digital delays can suffer from nasty unusable scratchy clipping, I'd like to think this has the MXR massive headroom tech that they have on the MXR300 reverb, I'm also wondering if there's an internal dip switch, to flip it to stereo, using trs jacks instead of ts regular mono jacks, you'd think/hope so, as they did it with the 300. All in all a great reveiw of an awesome delay, and I've got one or two or 10. It's a must for experimental, I love using a bunch in parallel all sent through a send/return slightly modulated delay to make great vintage sounding room verbs.
You got two of the Alabs pedals on there. Nice. How are you liking those Ryan? I am loving the 3 Series Oil Can Delay into the Cetus reverb. It's amazing.
Or, get either the Mosky Magnetic Delay or the DemonFx Tape Echo. All of these, including the Falling Star are based on the Keeley Mag-Echo. Falling Star sound a little grittier and does have an on/off switch for the modulation part, but turning the depth pot fully counter clockwise acts the same way, bypassing the modulation. Also, the mosky and demonfx have a separate led visualizer for the modulation speed.
This definitely was one of your most interesting and out there pedal demos. Some may not appreciate everything you do, but I was pretty amazed on how with something so???? I can't even come up with a word for it you are still able to either put chords or notes with working a tremolo to give some outrageous sounds. But I still have to say I'm somewhat captivated by the Guild. How do you decide on what you're going to pull off the wall to demo with? Do you try a couple first before you decide? Especially for one that's on the chopping block. Unless maybe you filmed this prior to knowing it was going to be? Hmmmmm?
Smart marketing to call it that...there's easily 100K players that will instantly get the association and keep it "in mind". Not very compelling, though. A dual delay w/ up+down octave shift going to mono out, no separate mod rate control. Pass...
It's stereo output (via TRS or dual mono), TRS input, and there are tons of secondary parameters to adjust basically everything - including independent mod rate/depth. From the manual: "By default, the MOD knob controls both the depth and rate of the modulation effect, but each can be adjusted independently. To adjust the modulation depth, hold down the TRAILS button and rotate the MOD knob as needed. To adjust the modulation rate, release the TRAILS button, and rotate the MOD knob as needed. The MOD knob will continue to function as a rate control until default settings are restored through a factory reset (see RESTORE DEFAULTS section below)."
