With a single video you gained a new subscriber. The blade itself is amazing, but that handle makes it an absolute museum piece. This is the kind of thing that motivates me to be a better bladesmith myself. Thanks for the inspiration.
Hello Christopher. Thank you for the awesome comment. Im so glad you enjoyed the video and that it left you inspired!. It is exactly that which motivates me to make these kind of videos. Im looking forward to see some of your work! Happy Bladesmithing!
Like who gives a thumbs down? Either they are "youtube police" doing it, or just some SOBs whose lives are full of misery. GREAT VIDEO AND SKILL, A TRUE GIFT!
Thank you for watching and for the kind comment. I know I'll never keep everyone happy...people's taste differ and that's fine with me. If people tell me what they don't like about the vids, then I can always try to improve on that.
Thank you...thats always a difficult question to answer. Depends on the materials used, and my biggest problem is shipping costs to certain countries, which are crazy expensive.
Hi, yes there are 2 reasons actually. Firstly, softer metal has more shock absorbing capabilities than hardened metal...it won't really make much of a difference on small knifes but on choppers and swords for argument sake it will be beneficial. Secondly is for drilling holes...you won't be able to drill hard metal unless you have specific expensive tools. In my case I drill the holes before heat treatment, so it won't make much of a difference, but it does leave some allowance for corrections if your handle is still in a "soft state". It happenes often that you decide to go with bigger pins, or you mess up a pin hole and need to go bigger...no problem on soft metal...difficult on hardened metal. Thank you for watching, hope this answers your question
Hi Bryan...for the video purpose I used 5160, which is readily available. I do prefer 01 toolsteel as a High Carbon steel, but this is more expensive, and then N690 for stainless steel.
Hi Dominick. I use a product called "Epidermix 372". It does have a creamy consistency and its a 12 hour drying epoxy, which gives me ample time to clamp up and clean up seeping out epoxy.

No...although he might have had an influence. Listening to it now, it seems a bit much, but it was cool at the time I was making this video. This was after all the perfect platform to practice my film and editing skills. But yes, have since then ditched the background music as I realised that you will never please everyone and viewers can get very upset if they don't like your choice of music. :)
Ball bearing flaring of the lanyard tube. Genius!
Thank you for watching....yes, ball bearings works well if you don't have fancy machines
Awesome job.

Awesome knife. What would a custom knife like this go for?
Thank you...thats always a difficult question to answer. Depends on the materials used, and my biggest problem is shipping costs to certain countries, which are crazy expensive.
a great design indeed < could you please provide the printable template
Amazing, simply amazing. Would you consider starting an instagram for the knife making? Would be fun to follow the prosess.
Yes, definitely. I will look into that shortly, and post the link once up and running. Thank you for watching.
Hi I love your videos. I always wondered why you don’t quench the handle too, is there an advantage to leaving it softer?

@@zeemanknives Thanks. Do you heat treat the N690 yourself? I want to start playing around with stainless, but not sure of the heat treat..
