A decent quality violin ranges between $500 to $5,000. As you go up in price from that the increase in quality of sound tends to be less but there are usually little things that are better quality and the maker takes a little more care in making the instrument. The violin I use in most of my videos is in the $2,000 - $3,000 range. I wouldn’t recommend buying a violin without trying it first or if you don’t know how to play at a good level take a violin player or teacher to try it. Sometimes teachers and violinists can get commissions from that so it’s best if it’s a friend.

If you are just starting out you can find violins that are good for beginners at around $400 although make sure it’s set up by a good luthier.
