I’m speechless Ramon…almost !! Absolutely stunning. Every time I think you can’t outdo yourself you proceed to outdo yourself. As always it is truly a pleasure to watch videos of your builds. And the directions on the bottom..simply brilliant and even that was done with flair.
What a masterpiece! I love everything about this table. The marquetry is beyond beautiful, Ramon. A heirloom piece to be handed down to generations to come. I would really love to make a similar table and matching chairs. There's so much inspiration here in this build. I've seen and built many tables, but your table here, Ramon far exceeds them all. Thank you so much for documenting this build and sharing it with us. Well done, Ramon! Well done, indeed.
What a great comment…I certainly appreciate the feedback. I wish I had good and easily accessible footage of the chair build. I do have a lot of video but it’s buried around 2016 on instagram 😆 Would love to see your version. This was a fantastic journey for me. Cheers
Ramon, you are a true inspiration! Watching your beautiful artistic designs come to life through superior craftsmanship is gift to everyone. Much like like your lovely lady, I too “love everything about it!”
Thank you…I appreciate you taking the time to watch. And I love that description “functional art”. Our best friend already spilled her beer across the marquetry! 🍺😆 She was in shock! No worries…it has a good finish and it’s just a table! 😬
The finished article is simply stunning, a masterpiece showing off your talents. Can't wait to see how you manage to top this in a future project. I imagine it's going to take something truly inspirational and have significant meaning to you and your family for it to be in the same league as the table and chair build. Congratulations on completing this build with such precision.
This is a true masterpiece, Ramon. Lisa and I watched the video together and we loved it. There is so much I could say about the table and chairs - your engineering skills, your attention to even the smallest detail, your ability to explain how and why you did certain things with the design and build, your choice of woods and veneers, your patience (along with DeYan's 🙂), even your choice of music with the video. Wow!! Congratulations on this amazing project!!! Thanks for the mention; I'm thrilled that you like the salt and pepper mills.
I’m glad you shared this with Lisa! It was such a great build for me. I learned a lot, and even though I was frustrated at times, there were some special “aha”moments! I know that I learned valuable experience! I appreciate your feedback especially…your attention to detail and improvement of accuracy is impressive. We looove the salt n pepper mills…they make our female friends gasp! 😆
I always find it interesting…it’s hard to remember all the trials, re-dos and re-engineering after something like this is complete. I found a box with pivot blocks and realized that I had made em three times until I got that part right! But yeah…you’re right…totally worth it in the end. Much thanks.
This is spectacular. Fabulous design and execution. I love the attention to every detail ranging from technical considerations to artistic touches. Congratulations on creating a future museum piece! 🍁🍁🍁
Now you need some custom coasters! God help the first person to leave a water ring! 🤣 Amazing work! Two questions. 1. What finish did you use? 2. For fun, what would you have sold this set (chairs and table) for if it was a commissioned project? 😁 Absolutely gorgeous.
Yes, coasters should be required! Funny thing, my lady’s best friend dumped her beer straight away when we sat down for Thanksgiving dinner! Right across the marquetry! 😆 She felt bad, of course but no worries…this has a conversion varnish…a superb top coat finish that is way better than lacquer and very water (beer🤪🍺) resistant. This table as a commission would have to be 60K plus. It was a massive amount of work. Thanks for the questions and thank you for watching! Please share if you would. 🙏🏼
I've had a very successful professional career and I'm close to retiring. It was a lot of work and very challenging at times, and I'm on the verge of retirement. But it's craftsmen like you who cause me to think whether I chose the right career. By the way, how did you learn marquetry?
Interesting. I’d say you did make a good choice if you can call it successful. Mine is a long story but looking back I’m glad I chose this path. Hugely rewarding and we made some good decisions with money early on. I now live a life creating, practically doing what I want every single day. I feel very blessed. I went to Anderson Ranch in Aspen, Colorado back in 2005 to learn marquetry. Over the years I’ve developed my own method and process. Such a fun craft! Many thanks
We have and…on Thanksgiving our best friend spilled her full beer across the marquetry! 😆 No big shake, it has a strong finish. But it will be a future conversation between us!😆 thank you for checking out the video
Very nice!
Thank you!
WOW, just WOW is all i can muster to say at this point
Wow? I’ll take that! 😬 Thank you for watching!
I just have to say that you are one talented and patient dude. Thank you for sharing this project. Steve

“Galleria de Valdez” 😬 thank you for watching!
Gorgeous work as usual, I hate to think how many hours went into that!
Thank you! You know, I don’t want to know the hours between the table and chairs! Good thing it was built for us! 😬 I appreciate you watching!
What does the lovely lady think? We all know its awesome......
She loves it. 20 years plus waiting…and now she says she loves everything about it.

Yeah! Sanding back the first seal coat👍🏼
Please tell me you don’t plan on actually using this! Way too nice for that. Great job Ramon.
