I am totally with you on the last part. Last year at Wacken this song was performed by the house-band of Wacken. They rarely get any huge crowds, as they are a coverband only. Well, after they played this song, I saw so many hard-af metalheads crying and shouting for a "Zugabe"... literally best moment of that day. This song heals, in many different ways.
James Hatfield and all of Metallica, make this version feel timeless and effortless. The words, harmony and rythmn are so deliberately calming, resounding and etheral. The song hits and resonates the heart! I love every version, but this is my favourite by far. I just started learning bass last week and this is the second song I've learned. Not the hardest song to learn on bass by any stretch but I tell you what....... after 4 or 5 hours of learning, when 5:26 hit and it felt like I was playing with them, I had tears in my eyes while I was playing along. It's such an epic piece of music and those horns in the background make it much MORE epic.
