I've been looking back at the footage from Diablo 4 and sadly it looks a LOT like Diablo Immortal, the same green arrow stat upgrades. It has like 2 stats basically attack and defense. Little generic "world boss events" where people auto attack some lame boss. Looks like it's gonna be super generic for people who don't want to have to think about their character's stats. And I bet there will be a battlepass/boon of plenty type of BS and they will say "We listened to our fans and decided to make Diablo 4 micro transactions a much higher value"
I saw NetEase's involvement in this game, and I think this a norm that westerners don't familiar with. China has been producing super hardcore pay to win games like this, and it makes a lot of money. This kind of games aims for wealthy people who does not have time and knowledge of the game, to enjoy stomping and being worshipped by non paying players. Non paying customers are just NPCs. This is very normal in China, where millions will be poured into the game by rich guys just to maintain their status. One company even manually release new update and edit level cap, just because the one guy who pay too much hit level cap too quickly. That guy can win a guild wars with almost no equipment against a whole guild. I am happy to see this tactics failed miserably when the game is facing international audience

DI looks like an experiment to me to see how much and easy they can drain the whales and big fishes out of their money. They thought of every possible way to make people start to spend money, beginning with low hurdle 99cent packs and after becoming accustomed buying the bigger 150+$ packs.

The problem is that 3d modeling and game design USED to be a niche where ONLY game lovers would join game making companies (audio people and every other job) but today there are so many different jobs in the game making departments and its so mass marketed as a "good paying job" that probably atleast half of the people that are NOW getting jobs at game companies arent REALLY into games.
Actually, the 3D / design areas of games are still filled with creative people who are filled with passion. You see it with how many games look amazing these days. Even WoW still _looks_ good, despite having terrible writing (diversity hires) and monetisation (shareholders). The problem is, these teams have to bow down to the suits out to make money (the non-gamers), and so many devs are happy to just have a job instead of working in a proper team to make good video games. That seems to be the domain of indie and Japanese game devs.
This is simply not true. Game Dev jobs are the worst paid jobs in the CS Industry, besides maybe being a frontend dev. The reason is that the companies justify overworking and underpaying you because you are creating games, which is fun. So you are looking at making possibly 80k per year while your buddy over there making financial software for a bank makes 150k a year.
As a primarily mobile gamer the arguement "the combat is really good" is just wrong. It comes from people who this is probably their first mobile game. Immortal is a copy paste of literally every other top down mobile rpg ive ever played. It had some unique features but they're all locked behind massive paywalls. I expected monetizatipn and fully went into the game expecting to drop at least 1000. I wasnt prepared to spend 1000+ just on leveling and i bailed at that point. If you want good combat from a mobile game go play Genshin Impact. At least the eastern companies know how far they can push their monetization for westerners before we say "no". Blizzard obviously doesnt. I mean shoot "Blades" was a much more down to earth attempt at mobile gaming than this ever will be

I’ve noticed by talking to friends and acquaintances both that the only people that are really hating on this game are the ones that are influenced by RUclipsrs that hate on the game. I know it has influenced me. But the ones who don’t watch RUclips are the ones that give the best reviews so far. Makes me wonder because I find myself being negative after watching all the negativity. But I’m just a filthy casual who rarely gets to play like I want because I have to many responsibilities these days.

The issue with the indicator is fairly visible. They programmed it so that the center of the spell is the boss. But the center of the indicator is not the boss, its ahead of the boss, where he is going to strike with his hands. The outer edge of the indicator is correct. Its like two different people coded the indicator and the damage spell, and they didn't speak to each other.

I've seen some of Asmon's older videos when this whole train wreck was starting, he is a WoW fan, a big one. He cares a lot about the game because it's one he that he has put a lot of time into, so he basically has a emotional investment. However, what is happening now, Asmon is not a fan of. He hates it. From my point of view, I think he's pining more than anything, pining for when the game and everything surrounding it was decent and fun to play and actually worth the time and money.

Practically what Path of Exile has been doing for like forever. And while Grinding Gear Games isn't really that tiny indie studio anymore, it still speaks for itself if a small tiger like them can get by without as aggressive monetization what a giant tiger like Blizzard could do.
The biggest problem with this boss is that nothing in the game before this really sets you up for the difficulty spike and situational awareness. Everything else you can pretty much face tank through with a potion.

None of this is surprising Diable immortal wasn't created to be good it was created to earn money. The individuals that made this game and or gave the go-ahead to make the game how it currently does so with the understanding that Diablo fans are hungry for the next stage of Diablo (Diablo 4) and they are simply capitalizing on that opportunity to make ridiculous amounts of money from the people that love what this franchise was supposed to be and how it started. Shining a light on crappy monetisation is a great approach. I was really getting into Genshin Impact at one point (it's a great game ruined by monetisation), and I was tempted to buy some loot boxes ("wishes") to get some stuff because, why not? I'm playing the game and I don't mind supporting the games I play. Then I watched a few Tectone videos of him trying to get something called "The Staff of Homa"... bro, that game never got a penny from me.

The combat completely sucks And I cannot stand that your character has to literally stop running while he casts a spell… like wtf you mean cant cast and run at the same time, these hit boxes are disgusting and I have 2 seconds to react. Having only 4 slots for abilities feels extremely thin and I never know which abilities to run, idk if thats the style of diablo but that also sucks ass.

I will never understand why People play a game where they can't afford to engage in all the content in some cases. No one wants you in their Raids. No one wants you in their Dungeons. I downloaded it twice. First time I uninstalled was when it became clear it was p2w. I really enjoyed the gameplay so I reinstalled but never played it, then last night sitting on my couch debating spending a little money on immortal I searched ps store and bought diablo 2 & 3 instead. Approached the game with open mind. Initially, for the first 5 hours, it was actually not bad. Games itself is subpar to Diablo 3, but they way they managed to re-create 90% of D3 on mobile is a great merit for their engineers. But when the game approached farming legendary gem and started blocking story progress with levels i dropped it. For example, i couldn't do Zoltun Kulle part of the quest because if was lvl 30 and it required lvl 35. After grinding for a couple of hours, finally accessed Zoltun Kulle library and completed quests there. Got less than a level and then next zone required level 40. What the hell is this game design? All in all, game itself is a pretty good port of D3 to mobile devices. Not great, but not bad. But what makes it unplayable is a game design that continuosly reminds you that if you want to develop at a decent pace -- gotta pay money. I wish they just sold a game for $30-50 without any further microtransactions

It's important to note that the people that make the game and the people that choose how to implement microtransactions are two different groups of people. I don't know about Diablo, but I know a lot about Magic, and it's the same thing there. The designers are great, passionate people who love the game, but after they're done with it it gets filtered through corporate greed. It's not even marketing people that are in the wrong, it's just whoever sets price points and tries to squeeze more and more money out of the playerbase with every release.
that's a vaild argument but when does gameplay and microtransactions bleed together? you can't say they are entirely separate when the gameplay is designed around encouraging microtransactions and microtransactions directly increase the amount you can play, only to spend more. the design is predatory by nature, both the gameplay that entices you to spend, and the spending itself that creates a vicious cycle. when every aspect of the game can be picked apart to show how deeply the apathy towards the player go, there is no point offering sympathy for either the devs or the people implementing microtransactions; they are working together/are the same people
@@luckerowl8990 The financial people may *make* the developers do that, there's no reason to think the developers themselves are doing it. The developers have no real *reason* to want to incorporate microtransactions, unless they feel some extreme brand loyalty to their company and want to line the pockets of the higher ups. I assume developers work with a typical salary so there's little reason for them to do it, whereas the higher ups have much more to gain by squeezing every bit of money out of the playerbase, since they can personally profit from it. Basically, I'd say to look for who specifically in the company is benefiting from extreme microtransactions, and I'd say that it's pretty safe to say that they're the ones making it it happen, and I highly doubt that is the developers.
@@Kopekemaster I guess it varies between companies, but I feel that the level of sophisticated scammery going on here cannot be due to devs hands' being forced by higher ups. You just do not make such carelessly made products with such intense and aggressive microtransactions being shoved in the players face without being either conscious of what you are making, or just completely uncaring to the player experience. The devs make the game, but if the reflection of their vision for it is shit and riddle with microtransactions you can't say that one's deciding it's direction are solely at fault.

Technically you can buy gear. The season pass has a legendary weapon on it and it can be paid for instead of earned. In fact asmon did it himself in his first play. So it's a lie that gear can't be bought either. Because you can also buy legendarys from a vendor in West March with in-game currency. Yeah it's random chance but it still a pay to get gear situation

I feel that one of the main reason Blizzard games are still so successful is that that there aren't enough games like those that they make. Ya, Diablo is similar to Path of Exile and Torchlight, but they just don't provide you with the same experience. It's like the developers tried to hard to make them unique. I think what we need is for developers to not be ashamed to flat out copy all of the good parts of Diablo and make a good game out of it. Take away the monopoly that Blizzard had for such a long time.

If you have your settings on low (at least my phone) the walls aren't visible through everything that's happening. The walls on my phone are transparent but it's hard to tell where they're at unless you take a second to focus and look but by then it's too late.

Question. My level 42 character is using legendaries. I noticed on Wowhead the end game legendaries require level 55. They have the same names and skill perks as mine. I've been looking back at the footage from Diablo 4 and sadly it looks a LOT like Diablo Immortal, the same green arrow stat upgrades. It has like 2 stats basically attack and defense. Little generic "world boss events" where people auto attack some lame boss. Looks like it's gonna be super generic for people who don't want to have to think about their character's stats. And I bet there will be a battlepass/boon of plenty type of BS and they will say "We listened to our fans and decided to make Diablo 4 micro transactions a much higher value"

This kind of games aims for wealthy people who does not have time and knowledge of the game, to enjoy stomping and being worshipped by non paying players. Non paying customers are just NPCs.
This is very normal in China, where millions will be poured into the game by rich guys just to maintain their status. One company even manually release new update and edit level cap, just because the one guy who pay too much hit level cap too quickly. That guy can win a guild wars with almost no equipment against a whole guild.

The problem is that 3d modeling and game design USED to be a niche where ONLY game lovers would join game making companies (audio people and every other job) but today there are so many different jobs in the game making departments and its so mass marketed as a "good paying job" that probably atleast half of the people that are NOW getting jobs at game companies arent REALLY into games.
Actually, the 3D / design areas of games are still filled with creative people who are filled with passion. You see it with how many games look amazing these days. Even WoW still _looks_ good, despite having terrible writing (diversity hires) and monetisation (shareholders).
The problem is, these teams have to bow down to the suits out to make money (the non-gamers), and so many devs are happy to just have a job instead of working in a proper team to make good video games. That seems to be the domain of indie and Japanese game devs.
This is simply not true. Game Dev jobs are the worst paid jobs in the CS Industry, besides maybe being a frontend dev. The reason is that the companies justify overworking and underpaying you because you are creating games, which is fun. So you are looking at making possibly 80k per year while your buddy over there making financial software for a bank makes 150k a year.
Game companies pay terribly compared to the rest of the industry.
This game will end up having more Uninstalls than Installs. Impressive.

As a primarily mobile gamer the arguement "the combat is really good" is just wrong. It comes from people who this is probably their first mobile game. Immortal is a copy paste of literally every other top down mobile rpg ive ever played. It had some unique features but they're all locked behind massive paywalls. I expected monetizatipn and fully went into the game expecting to drop at least 1000. I wasnt prepared to spend 1000+ just on leveling and i bailed at that point. If you want good combat from a mobile game go play Genshin Impact. At least the eastern companies know how far they can push their monetization for westerners before we say "no". Blizzard obviously doesnt. I mean shoot "Blades" was a much more down to earth attempt at mobile gaming than this ever will be

What I find strange, is how this game was suddenly hyped near it's release, when no one was happy when it was first announced.
I think there were a lot of the diablo fan base that were excited about it.

The issue with the indicator is fairly visible. They programmed it so that the center of the spell is the boss. But the center of the indicator is not the boss, its ahead of the boss, where he is going to strike with his hands. The outer edge of the indicator is correct. Its like two different people coded the indicator and the damage spell, and they didn't speak to each other.
I tried pvp as a wizard and I couldn’t see other characters because I literally die so fast it goes to the death screen.

I've seen some of Asmon's older videos when this whole train wreck was starting, he is a WoW fan, a big one.
He cares a lot about the game because it's one he that he has put a lot of time into, so he basically has a emotional investment.

To be clear Diablo immortal has the potential to be a fantastic game and do justice to that which has come before it. BUT currently is is a FAR CRAY from that and unfortunately will never been what it could/should have be/been
the very moment they announced it would be mobile only it was known that it was going to suck ass. then they released it on pc as well, which is incredibly ironic considering it's a skinner boxxed up D3 clone, assets, design, gameplay, and all.
Shining a light on crappy monetisation is a great approach.
I was really getting into Genshin Impact at one point (it's a great game ruined by monetisation), and I was tempted to buy some loot boxes ("wishes") to get some stuff because, why not? I'm playing the game and I don't mind supporting the games I play.
Then I watched a few Tectone videos of him trying to get something called "The Staff of Homa"... bro, that game never got a penny from me.
i actually got that piece of gear. I looked at it and was like wow this is one of the dumbest things ive ever seen in a video game, actually thought the same exact thing. if this isnt complete incompetence in game developing idk what is.
Stupid question maybe, but what exactly is dumb about it? Is the description badly written or is this about the mechanic? All games have stuff like that that is very niche or backwarded and rather dumb to use.
The combat completely sucks And I cannot stand that your character has to literally stop running while he casts a spell… like wtf you mean cant cast and run at the same time, these hit boxes are disgusting and I have 2 seconds to react. Having only 4 slots for abilities feels extremely thin and I never know which abilities to run, idk if thats the style of diablo but that also sucks ass.
There is only ONE good free2play game and it is Starcraft 2. That's it. Blizzard will never repeat this success ever again.
Idk wolf team was pretty dope without the hero's and holiday weapons, turkey drumstick grenades were way to strong.
This is the you I enjoy. 1:14 is something I've told People before. Basically, the Fodder is just as big of an issue as the Whales. I will never understand why People play a game where they can't afford to engage in all the content in some cases. No one wants you in their Raids. No one wants you in their Dungeons. Yet, they will happily accept you as Fodder in PVP. Have some damn respect for yourself.

I don't think people get how naive other people can be. Yep, I installed it. Waited to see how it shook out and still have not even touched it. Maybe a part of me hopes some aspect of this awful level of cash grabbing will be removed but I am sure it will just sit unplayed on my HD until I delete it.

Approached the game with open mind. Initially, for the first 5 hours, it was actually not bad. Games itself is subpar to Diablo 3, but they way they managed to re-create 90% of D3 on mobile is a great merit for their engineers.
But when the game approached farming legendary gem and started blocking story progress with levels i dropped it. For example, i couldn't do Zoltun Kulle part of the quest because if was lvl 30 and it required lvl 35. After grinding for a couple of hours, finally accessed Zoltun Kulle library and completed quests there. Got less than a level and then next zone required level 40. What the hell is this game design?
All in all, game itself is a pretty good port of D3 to mobile devices. Not great, but not bad. But what makes it unplayable is a game design that continuosly reminds you that if you want to develop at a decent pace -- gotta pay money. I wish they just sold a game for $30-50 without any further microtransactions
I gave up on mobile games and I pay 60 dollars but not a penny more i read reviews and see how bad the grind. i wanted to play assassin creed Egypt one i waited 3 years to play it paid 5 dollars on sale so i can wait.

It's important to note that the people that make the game and the people that choose how to implement microtransactions are two different groups of people. I don't know about Diablo, but I know a lot about Magic, and it's the same thing there. The designers are great, passionate people who love the game, but after they're done with it it gets filtered through corporate greed. It's not even marketing people that are in the wrong, it's just whoever sets price points and tries to squeeze more and more money out of the playerbase with every release.
that's a vaild argument but when does gameplay and microtransactions bleed together? you can't say they are entirely separate when the gameplay is designed around encouraging microtransactions and microtransactions directly increase the amount you can play, only to spend more. the design is predatory by nature, both the gameplay that entices you to spend, and the spending itself that creates a vicious cycle. when every aspect of the game can be picked apart to show how deeply the apathy towards the player go, there is no point offering sympathy for either the devs or the people implementing microtransactions; they are working together/are the same people
@@luckerowl8990 The financial people may *make* the developers do that, there's no reason to think the developers themselves are doing it. The developers have no real *reason* to want to incorporate microtransactions, unless they feel some extreme brand loyalty to their company and want to line the pockets of the higher ups. I assume developers work with a typical salary so there's little reason for them to do it, whereas the higher ups have much more to gain by squeezing every bit of money out of the playerbase, since they can personally profit from it.
Basically, I'd say to look for who specifically in the company is benefiting from extreme microtransactions, and I'd say that it's pretty safe to say that they're the ones making it it happen, and I highly doubt that is the developers.
@@Kopekemaster I guess it varies between companies, but I feel that the level of sophisticated scammery going on here cannot be due to devs hands' being forced by higher ups. You just do not make such carelessly made products with such intense and aggressive microtransactions being shoved in the players face without being either conscious of what you are making, or just completely uncaring to the player experience. The devs make the game, but if the reflection of their vision for it is shit and riddle with microtransactions you can't say that one's deciding it's direction are solely at fault.

Technically you can buy gear. The season pass has a legendary weapon on it and it can be paid for instead of earned. In fact asmon did it himself in his first play. So it's a lie that gear can't be bought either. Because you can also buy legendarys from a vendor in West March with in-game currency. Yeah it's random chance but it still a pay to get gear situation

I feel that one of the main reason Blizzard games are still so successful is that that there aren't enough games like those that they make. Ya, Diablo is similar to Path of Exile and Torchlight, but they just don't provide you with the same experience. It's like the developers tried to hard to make them unique. I think what we need is for developers to not be ashamed to flat out copy all of the good parts of Diablo and make a good game out of it. Take away the monopoly that Blizzard had for such a long time.

So Diablo immortal is now sitting at a 4.6 on iOS, I can’t add a review that is 1 star. It won’t go up but I can review any other game instantly on platform. Fishy? Only as fishy as 99% perfect reviews for 47 hrs cause ratio was 60/40 5 vs 1 star reviews and now is literally 90% 5 star. I call shenanigans

Question. My level 42 character is using legendaries. I noticed on Wowhead the end game legendaries require level 55. They have the same names and skill perks as mine. Will my legendaries get upgraded somehow or do you have to get new ones? I have to pick a legendary reward night now and the answer to this will determine which one I pick.
