  • This is a modification of PropMaster's prop head movement project adding arm movement. My goal is to build an animated talking pirate to stand on the deck of the pirate ship I will be building in my yard this fall.

    This is a great modification. Wish I had used this for my stirring witch. Everything is compact enough not to interfere with clothing, etc. Thanks for the video

    I'm building a three witches' scene and I like what you have done here. Do you have the plans for this? Along with the parts list?

    They are really hard to find now. If you look around the electronics surplus sites you can find some good deals on motors.

    Vent motors. They are really hard to find now. Reindeer motors used on Christmas displays work well.

    I know many ask about motors. I recently (Oct 2013) purchased mine from LU Solar online. They are about $7 each. They will take about 2 weeks to ship, but as of now, shipping is free. Word to the wise, build lightly as these motors do not offer much in the way of torque.

    I’d like to see close your arm set up please want to build a prop that just moves his arms up and down first time I do this so trying to do it easy. Nice job by the way.

    Ha! $2.95. I got them at a surplus place online. They are some kind of surplus automotive DC motor. I also purchased a wall adapter for them. All together, motors, adapter and shipping was about $23 when all was said and done.

    The place I got the motors no longer sells them, unfortunately. One option would be to use motors from reindeer outdoor decorations. You can find just the motors online for about 10 dollars.

    Matt, Great Video, thank you! Any idea where to buy these motors now? What RPM and torque should I be looking to get? Thanks for your help!

    • @digitalpressworks
      @digitalpressworks  10 лет назад

      Nobody has these motors anymore from what I have seen, unfortunately. You want something about 5 RPM. You don't need a lot of torque. I've used Christmas reindeer motors for this kind of prop and it works great.

      Don't have them anymore, unfortunately. The most important thing to know is the size of the PVC pipe. The large pipe is 3/4" and the smaller pipe is 1/2"

      Just looking around for ideas for next year's Halloween. Did some stuff with PVC pipe and this has given me some inspiration. Won't ask you about the motors because otherwise you'd have to block me 😉. I might go for servos.

    Hi, this is so awesome and exactly what I want to do for my plague doctor in my medieval black plague cemetery setup for Halloween. Is there any way you'd mind emailing me the blueprints? I'd sooo appreciate it! :)

      The larger ones are 3/4" and the smaller ones are 1/2". You need both for this configuration.
