Wtf that actually happens? I’ve been avoiding subscribing too much to avoid that very thing. I thought some shit like that would happen if I go past some limit or something. Don’t even get me started on how it seems like some of my subscriptions have just vanished. I seriously feel like I subscribed to way more people and now I’m paranoid that I’ll never come across those channels or videos I once enjoyed enough to save. Or when videos are deleted or privated and you just want the NAME so you can find it again but nope, all you get is “deleted” and feelings of not ever being able to remember what the damn video was ;-;

I remember the recommending system was weird back in the days. You'd watch a skit video and then there was a rabbit hole of alien spottings, paranormal cam footages and I remember "Allah curses" videos.
Yeah, technically it's gotten a lot better.

Back then, the related videos were mostly, you know, related to the video you were watching (or at least were what other people clicked on). Nowadays, nearly all of them have absolutely nothing to do with this video, and are instead related to shit I watched last week. "Personalized" my ass.
The current system is garbage and I hate it.

@@Mari99528 But the old CD-i Mario and Zelda YTPs and the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog YTPs have a really special place in my heart. I know YTPs got better and better over time but I still love the distinctive humour of these YTPs from that era. When I revisit them, I always laugh at them despite of watching them for the thousandth time. Old YTPs are still golden parts of internet comedy to this day.
They really overused the 9/11 meme though, and spaghetti, and Shoop da woop, and WTF boom, and mama Luigi, and You must dai.

I was about 8 or so when I started RUclips. I'm a 2002 baby, and I got a Samsung tablet for Christmas in 2010, and I remember watching so many Minecraft videos, and vines, and goofy, quirky videos that you couldn't find by searching them up. Good times.

I miss RUclips before it became a soulless corporation that markets repetitive content. The idea of discovering random videos and getting yourself lost into another world full of average joes like you and me making weird videos, is just so enthralling. This was the heart of RUclips, and now it's been taken away from us and that's something, I think, we'll never experience ever again....

@K We could replace it with whatever we please, but nothing would change. Part of the reason it won't come back is because everyone using it at the time grew up. The kids of then couldn't care less for politics or drama, but us as the newly introduced adults of now do. If a more interesting algorithm does interest you, check out vidlii; though their privacy policy is patchy in parts, it gives that old youtube experience as it was when you were a kid.

First 50 seconds gave me the chills
Yeah one thing that really upsets me is seeing a "deleted video/page not found" on one of my old playlists or my liked videos. Because it doesn't say what channel or video was deleted, it kind of lost that memory, and might never find it again. One I watched got deleted, and I didn't remember who it was until I found someone's reposts of it MONTHS later. But I might've missed it, and never seen anything from that channel again.

I'll be damned if I didn't feel depressed as hell, but still kept smiling like an idiot at the flashback to a simpler time of my life, and of internet culture in general. Also, the shout out to Ashens is seriously under appreciated. I love that dude and his content to death. It's so simple, relaxing, and entertaining. And the fact that he stays virtually 100% out of any youtube drama makes him so easy to digest and unwind with.

I'm feeling overwhelmed with sadness. You took me on a trip down memory lane that I've avoided for so long. I've spent so many of my days drowning in nostalgia that I decided to completely cut off that habit and focus on the future. Every once in a while though, things like this show up and make me feel all sorts of things.

Remember how you could browse NEWEST videos on the whole platform and try to find something cool there? That feature sure wouldn't work anymore.
Remember how your profile told you how many videos you've watched... or how about how you could really customize your profile? or what about those seizure-gif profile pages? Good times.
How about that little playlist-like thing you could open up above the video and browse the uploaders videos in chronological order without needing to go to their profile page.
Remember that horrible reaction system near the comment section where you could rate the video "Cute" and some other things?
But hah, I bet none of us miss the times when the video player required Flash, or how your quality choices were regular, or HQ (480p, I believe), a button which sometimes didn't even appear and you had to access with url code &fmt=18. Limited capacity playlists were also hell.

I love how most of us between 16-25 all have like similar memories of RUclips and late 2000s entertainment. Not even 20 years ago yet and having a nostalgiagasm.
hey misteramazing you probably get this alot, but your videos always manage to light up my day.
right now i'm in a pretty bad situation, i am 17 and i have had alot of conflicts with my mother. to the point where i decided to call up my dad and talk to him for the first time in years and move in with him. it's really weird saying goodbye to all of my friends and family and the stress that they experience from it and it makes me pretty sad as you can imagine. but then i turn on youtube and i feel like this is the perfect video to comment this, but as i turn on youtube i see one of your videos pop up in my recommended and i suddenly feel excited to watch and learn something instead of being down the entire day. thank you very much, keep up the videos because they are amazing to the presentation, editing and your soothing voice etc.

I was stupidly young but I still remember watching hypercam videos, YTPs and hearing With a Spirit, Dreamscape and Bodies over and over and over again on RUclips. I'm so happy others have the same kind of memories. I miss that version of YT.

This video just made me happy and overfilling with nostalgia. Just the old clips, the creative formula back then and just all the stuff came together and it was nice.
I just love the way how you want to show the time by using for example Windows XP to show to beginning and using Vista & 7 for the later times. Just didn't expect this (kind off) video from you but this is a amazing vid looking back, I'm may to young to remember al my memories from RUclips 2009 (I'm from 2005 so I literally grow up with RUclips) but I love to look back on the old times
