Mitsubishi Electric / City Multi VRF Leak Repair - Part 1

This job was a long time coming. I found the leaks months before this video. Unfortunately they waited too long and the leaks progressed rapidly to where I had to isolate the system to prevent further damage.

These City Multi condensor coils always leak, they get pitted around the bends and develop pin holes leaks overtime. when it gets to that stage, its best to just replace the coil. or else you will be back out there again. replaced two already and one was exactly in that same spot where your leak is.

Agreed. It’s looking like the coil will be available in mid January. This is just a temp fix. Then we get to do this all over again 😂

You're right, flue gasses can be corrosive. Seems like it comes from the sulfur content in the fuel, which in turn becomes sulphuric acid. That coil probably wouldn't see huge quantities, but still enough to cause corrosion.

Thanks mate, that’s handy information to know. I figured even if it was small amounts, it’s been there for almost 10 years so it’s had time to eat away at the copper.

@@hvacraustralia If you watch any videos on condensing natural gas boilers (mainly UK installs), they always have to have a neutraliser on the condensate coming off the boiler for the same reason, strip away the acid before it gets dumped to the sewer. Hadn't actually looked into it before though, thanks for asking the question!
