it is a great counter against hero like Argus and Edith both only want to pop ulti when they are low hp to maximize their skill efficiency, but sky piercer can fuck up their timing.
I agree, it's a nice soft counter item against them to force them to Ult earlier. But as long as Argus pops his Ult on time, Sky Piercer won't do much to him.
I somewhat disagree and I don't blame you. And you did have a point. I use my ult as long as I hit 50% and never stunt myself for just 100% efficiency to last longer in bed I mean battle.
I think that the item is designed as a snowball amplifier. More kills means better effect, and vice versa. It definitely fits anyone that has the "assassin" or "finisher" labels.
@@hotroom3235 I would say it's suitable for assassin... I once tried using Eudora with sky piercer... It was trash I remember getting more kills when sky piercer wasn't out yet

Plus that requirement for stacks is you GET THE KILLS NOT ASSISTS OR SHET AND MOST OF THE FACT YOU LOOSE STACK WHEN YOU DIE... SO ONLY WINNING TEAMS CAN USE THEM.... Trash item honestly clearly broken to the core...

It's actually pretty effective if you have a strong early game hero, or you are a jungler that can one shot squishys, and at the late game you can just sell it.
PS. It's only effective if you are good in the game
Very well put together video. Honestly, I'm also of the same opinion. I think that some people of the community are really overblowing this stuff, constantly harping about how OP this item is when in truth, it really isn't and is actually quite balanced.
Its bane of tank and shield hero,
I play mostly as roamer its feel really sucks if your team behind in gold and opponents start snowball with sky you cant even tank their dps anymore and it keep snowballed out control.
And even when you comeback pushing for late game item slots they can just sell it and change it to other item anyway
Tip for everyone: If 1 or 2 teammates has already built sky piercer, DO NOT build it. You would not utilize its passive well as you can't stack it as much since your team also needs to stack it.
Too bad the teamates who build it literally die every kill they get..
This tip is more for coordinated teams or if you think the teammate that built it is reliable. Otherwise, giving them the kills is just a waste.
Well not really. Occasionally you encounter heroes like Frederin, Argus, Terizla, or any heroes that utilize their abilities and skills best with low hp. Sky Piercer is like the Ultimate cryptonite to these heroes.
While it's true that having multiple heroes with this item slightly negates its effectiveness (Considering the average accumulated kills per team in High Rank game is about 20-30). If you have {Roam : Saber/Helcurt/Natalia + Jungle : Any type of assassin/burst heroes + MM : Roger/Brody/Beatrix} composition. The item would still be pretty viable even with multiple heroes utilizing it
Edit : Although honestly this composition would be really weak and stupid if actually drafted in High Rank Games

Depends on your hero. If you need it, then build it.
I think the biggest problem with sky piercer is that it's just not fun to play against. Low hp escapes/outplays usually a good demonstration of skill and very satisfying for the player. Sky piercer removes or at least reduces the chance of these moments happening

Look at 'WON' for instance 2 second immunity to physical damage which basically makes all physical assassins useless for that duration

This item is good but it also has a massive gamble to it
I see myself selling it a lot of games because I couldn't get a lot of kills

- Comparison of sky piercer vs other ap item against the defence of squishy vs tanky heroes
- Comparison of sky piercer when used in good atk scalling skill heroes vs bad atk scalling skill heroes (basically just late game vs early game heroes)
I like building Sky Piercer after my 1st item (not counting boots) whenever I play an assassin-type hero, then at late game I just sell it in favor of other items. It is a bit inefficient, but it helps a lot to secure kills in the early game.
would love an in depth analysis on wishing lantern which is similar to ur stats analysis on malefic roar

Most meta mages like valentina, faramis deal more damage with wishing lantern than holy crystal especially against tanky enemies. But keep in mind that because of its proc requirements, you need to already have the damage to proc it, so building it as a 1st-3rd item is not wise and I suggest you build it as a 5th item or 6th after divine glaive
I found out that is also works extremely well with true damage heroes. I used this with Alpha and I can't tell you how incredibly good this item is for him.
Karina is the one who can use this item arcane shoes, starlium scythe, concentrated energy, and finally sky piercer,,,,, Fourth holy crystal and last bloodwings
If you build sky piercer early you will have very very weak damage
Sky piercer is like endless battle and starlium scythe but only works in low hp
The only solution to this to make this item op is built it as a 3rd item😊
For example for assassin blade of the heptaseas,,, malefic roar 3rd sky piercer
I think it is a must if the squishy enemy can escape very easily. If you have short duration cc or anything for them, it works the best... Take enemies like Aurora for ex- Freezes and flickers away, Or Roger.

Sky piercer is DEFINITELY overhyped, i had so many moment of having the item but it NEVER triggered to kill the enemies.. and most of the time i do get sky piercer is when we're at losing game therefore making it a waated slot when im not getting kills 💀
I main clint and build skypiercer as one of my 3 core items. Surprisingly it is very effective and usually has good results on ranked games.
i feel like its the current two meta characters: roger & ling, made sky piercer looks so overpowered to the larger audience. their ability to secure kill and instantly get out of the fight allows them to stack it with relatively lower risk than most of other characters. and as what you showed, the ability to deal 600-900 passive dmg from just poking low hp enemy with any kind of dmg sources is almost as strong as full dmg item upgrade.
This item reminds me of the old Magic Scroll(?) item, which gives you more Magic Power for each kills/assists. It also has the same mechanic where it loses value when you die.
Soul Scroll! I used to build that on Selena, that item would give mp equal to old bloodwings at max stats, but I never reached that many kills with it.

Imo sky piercer is not worth it.
You can build blade of heptaseas which gives 10 more phy attk, 15 pen and the passive deals around 330 more dmg as soon as you get the item and 1300 with full burst build.
Hunter strike gives 20 more phy attk, 15 pen, 10% cdr and the mvt speed passive which is pretty handy
You can even build the lifebane item which gives extra 20 phy attk, 20% attk speed and ofc the lifebane effect
So why gamble with sky piercer which will barely reach full potential in like 10-15% matches
@@mr.tentacles8660 because sky piercer can turn over the game during a team fight even if ur on the losing sight. DID you not see the match of C9 where they were almost winning the team fight but roger with sky piercer executed them all?

Ofc the 12% execute is very good and you will have clutch moments with it but i am just comparing the reliability of sky piercer with other items.
Even if you manage to reach 10+ percent execute in 5 or 6 out of 10 matches is it worth wasting your first item slot for 60 adaptive attk in other 4 matches? And how long can you keep that execute because its not like if you manage to reach 12% you will have it for the rest of the match you might still die later
@@mr.tentacles8660 even if u die it only removes 3 stacks that's 0.3% . And it seems you didnt get to see the real terror of sp before it's nerf. Haya, ling or any other assasian could kill you before you can even press the WON or winter crown. Even Heroes like Fredrin, terizla etc who has high survivality could barely survive a fed assasian with Sp. Not to mention Xavier, clint , Leomord these heroes got too broken. And they already nerfed Xavier
My issue with this item is the time you took to put then on the passive's range would have been better spent by other items. Even endless battle would just need 2 or 3 procs to outvalue SP
If you treat sky piercer as a boot, you are making a great value out of it.
This, i basically go sky piercer with either thunder belt/wind talker, fk boots 😂

@@ihateads1023 agility+wilderness blessing is top tier for midlaners too. So you can even do a funny comp like Kaja midlane with Thunderbelt (he's a broken abuser of it. I once got 80+ stacks in a 30+ min game) + Starlium Scythe for the true damage spam
Conceptually it's an item that should have never been added in the first place. It's a snowball item that offers no skill nor counterplay. You can't itemized against it, you can't rely on shields or sustain because once you are within the execute threshold receiving damage is enough to kill you without anything to mitigate it. The only reason why sky piercer is not dominating the whole game is because of it's mediocre stats and the hp threshold nerf.
A funny combo is cecillions ult and sky piercer, basically removes the need to hit a skill 1 on the enemy to last hit and just let your homing missiles kill them for you
What make it good is the ability to ignore shield and when straight to execute the enemy this make foto clutch less op

I dunno, sometimes it's a waste of space for those one shotter already like Lesly or Eudora, it's already proven they can one shot even when it's not released yet, and it's better to choose a different items to significantly increase damage (because sky piercer if you didn't know only deals like below 100 damage, and if you instead used like blade of despair or holy crystal, your overall damage could go higher than when you have shy piercer), or replace it with ice crown
its an overrated item, after the change they made in adv. server in dmg output, it wont be an op item.
@@Bagas-rd1lk it's only a redesign, nothing's changed, but with that, players could actually see how much damage sky piercer dealt to an enemy (players will now see how little the damage is of sky piercer 😹)
I’ve been playing for +5 years and been reaching mythic for +4, I think I haven’t built this item on a single hero yet, I just find it so lacking, it might work on heroes like Baldmond, Martis, Dyrroth, Hilda, all this type of heroes that can easily get the enemy to low hp with their unique ults, but still I feel I get way more value for an actual item with better passives, more damage or active skills.
Sky piercer is a noobtrap item, other items provide much better utility AND damage such as Thunder belt for tanks/fighters and Thunder truncheon for mages.
Thunder belt on tanks/tanky fighters can easly hit for 500+ true damage and hit multiple enemies, same goes for Thunder truncheon except its damage scales to 800-900 depending on your mage's build.
Maybe we should build both items then ;)
My angela with sky piercer: BRRRRRRRR I was soloing on rank one time and got teamed up with bad team mates but thankfully our core is good. But tho he is good, he won't be able to handle 3 to 5 heroes at once and with mage being Zhask who is very annoying with CC mage items. We managed to won this painful 30+ mins round with me having 14-3-21 and my core is 18-4-26.
The hidden unique passive is preventing emotional damage from enemy escaping with 1 hp.

@@dino339 cuz it's... gonna be useless. Better buy other items cuz sky piercer is actually trash if you can't get a lot of kills. It's specifically good for early game assassins that focus on kills and snowballing enemies but falls off in the late game. They can now end the game early easier with that item

Isnt it also good with trinity users as they deal almost to no dmg when hp are low hp so sky piercer can secure them(i use it on mellisa)
It's pretty nice with Trinity users, yes, especially if you have high stacks and are fighting tanky targets
Don't try with Claude and basic atk MMs. I watched Enemy Killer(Global 1Clint) stream it was horrible.

I had good results with building it on wanwan as well. It helps the ult a lot in team fights.
True, although the stats are not super beneficial, but the Passive is great if you get high stacks with Wanwan.
Imo this item should have cd on execute enemy or just made it give u additional true dmg, works similar with hepta sea but trigger when enemy is low hp

Sky piercer i think its meant to buy for burst mages to better dodge skills, shoot and kill enemies, but not for asassins.
Sky piercer is not really op but it can be deadly if you play heroes who can snowball easily like fanny, ling, hayabusa and other assassins
Sky piercer is amazing in my server because everyone somehow escapes at 1hp so this item helps me secure those kills
Technically if you buy other attack and you have higher attack damage they will not leave with 1hp

When the upd drop and I was just playing checking out new item but the enemy team said I was hacking bc I deal 9999 true dmg(that was the funniest match and I think they forgot read patch notes)
Sky piercer is only good when you get so many kills right in the early game. Piercer will help you snowball.
But if you're behind sky piercer is useless.
i think it's really overpowered because assassin buy sky piercer in an earlier game when they are the at the strongest and dominate the squishy target. i'm quite sure that in higher ranks this item is completely broken because i never seen sky piercer with 0 stacks. they always have 40 plus consistently. i'm a mage user and it's been terrible experience because the meta right now is a mess. there are assassin with sky piercer, very tanky (impossible to kill heroes) like hylos and gatot, and the fighter healer like terizla. it's a complete mess. meanwhile the marksman and mage kept getting burst out to death in an instant. it's ridiculous.
There's a similar item in league wildrift. Its called the collector. Get it. Cus u collect the kills lol.They were making such a big deal out of it when it released. Putting it on every champion like its broken but in reality its not. I see that in mlbb too sky priece is good but not broken imo. Also only good when you snowballing other wise like Ruby said there are better item.
Instead of nerfing sky piercer, they should buff Malefic Gun. Like how often you see players buying Malefic Gun? Mostly Layla.
i only buy it on heroes that buy both heptaseas and hunter strike, i dont finish my hunter strike i only get the pen item then buy sky piercer, no idea if its efficient

Ling is pretty good with this item, especially if you're good on him. If you're consistently snowballing, then it'll be a very valuable item. Especially true against tanky enemies.

What I hate about Sky Piercer is it's made to counter tanks. Not just jungler tanks, all tanks. Can't even last in teamfight with all these damage being thrown.
whenim using harley or granger for jungler i have allways full stack of sky piercer making my enemies look like bot😂

as ling main, i most of the time build it while using ling as second item (excluding boots) after berserkers fury if i have got 2 or 3 kills by that time or if i am outfarming enemy jungle because then i have a high chance of getting more kills ahead, and from sky piercers passive i get all the kills (yes i kill steal some) that gives me more gold and i am able to build other items faster. but if i am having a tough early game, i dont build it. But sky piercer is a must build item for hayabusa, i build after building fury hammer (hunter strike sub item) then i go for sky piercer. i dont build sky piercer for heroes like julian (jungle) because i cant replace any other item for sky piercer , all other items are to crucial for julian build. sometimes its even better not to build it on roger.
meanwhile I have teammates that build sky piercer first item and feed.
Because my main is xb on exp, sky piecer seems not effect xb much as my experience XD
It can work with him, but other items are much more useful for him IMO.

This item is a no for me. Unique passive has too many variables to work consistently (getting kills, not dying), all of which only comes online after getting the item in transition to mid game.
If devs could throw in a 10% cdr that would be great haha.
yet another item to punish tanky heroes. i'd say it's overpowered when it's still 6% but now it's okay. Few heroes can maximize the potential, but some of them is on meta... sooo it might be bit overpowered
Kagura is also a very Special case for sky pierce when it comes to squishys
Kag with execute does stupid damage but lacks mobility in high rank matches and falls off in endgame
However with sky pierce and 1 big dmg item you can play execute kag but with significantly more range making existing pretty much impossible for marksman’s and mages in the early mid and endgame even when they’re with their teammates (I’ve so far reached glory with 78.9% winrate this season on kag because of this)
This proves that on kagura sky pierce is a more effective buy for vs squishy but a less effective buy for vs tanks as on kagura execute with pen is significantly better for tanks
Other tip is this. If the game doesn’t go your way, swap out Sky Piercer instead.

It's good as 5th or 6th/last item slot for almost all dps hero, and more effective to finisher type hero such Aamon, Brody, Lesley, etc. Less effective as 2nd or 3rd item, since it's still need core item.
idk but i think skypiercer is overrated its just lowering the enemy hp by 90%. other items can crit to 1500 hp per damage
Its a severely toxic item tbh, its a general thing that late game is basically who hits first wins but because of sky pierecer the gameplay is way limited. It really downgraded mlbb by a notch

btw yall is this build ok i mean im winning and getting mvp but im also getting harassed -> tough boots (rn i have favour but should i get dire hit), sky piercer, flask of oasis, glowing wand, magic crystal, immortality (backup items include enchanted talisman if im spaming skills and recalling a lot, and dom ice so its easier for me to switch to tank) also im taking like support emblems ToT( i like the main one to be support bcoz of the 60% movement buff compared to assassin 40% but even then what emblems should i take... (im taking agility, wilderness blessing and quantum charge rn but idk if i shd change it) i tried taking assassin emblems but i didnt do well tbh help pls...

Try sky piercer with Masha, she is dealing 1 shot hit to almost every hero if not build tanky items.
for my natan.. i build 4 items then only sky piercer... u can feel that instance kill pleasure with natan high burst damg late game...
It's really overrated penetration items such as hunter strike, heptaseas, and genius wand deals a lot of damage in early game, instead of rushing this overrated item, I think even fury hammer is better than this in early game and its so much cheaper
I stopped playing MLBB because of sky piercer.. I'm a roamer so it makes the game less fun if I can't escape a one-sided team fight without dying. I'll stick to HOK

Early. In good case scenarios, it's very useful from mid-game.
You ain't stacking much kills without dying at late game. Never buy it late.
the execute needs a cooldown
its completely abusable as it is right now
ruby never really glossed over heroes that can weave in and out of combat just to abuse the no cd passive
in the hands off the un butchered phovious (revamp phovious is butchered its trash) its a guaranteed no escape item
even a hylos can run it just for the execute since he can shave hp to the threshold for the execute
hayabusa can just go in and out of battle just to fish for the execute there is no counter play for the passive aside from raw healing
